The Royal Hotel  

The food was good and the Reception and waiting staff were excellent. They worked extremely hard to make up for the lack of sufficient staff to run the hotel smoothly.

The lounge was very small and next to the bar where there was a big screen tv. which meant it was noisy in the evening as it was mainly tuned to a sports channel. There was nowhere to sit with a book or to stay in the hotel if you wished to avoid bad weather, or just to have a quiet hour writing cards or any other activity. Staff shortages meant that the bedroom was regularly still not ready for occupancy at the end of the afternoon when we wished to shower and change for dinner. The management were nowhere to be seen and everything seemed to be left to the Receptionist and waiting staff to ensure that guests received the service they had the right to expect.

On arrival at the royal hotel, the external presentation is poor - especially at the rear of the hotel where even a coat of paint would have helped. The reception was not staffed and the supposed hair dryer that you can get from reception did not exist so had to borrow one from another guest. To top that no wifi unlike stated in brochure and seriously dated rooms and facilities in need of updating, such as the alarm phone in the room a 1980's piece of Tec that did not work just add to the constant frustration. The Satellite television had only approx six channels that could receive a signal -absolutely useless!! The breakfast was ok and the girl serving was very nice, but overall we did not get the impression we were valued guests and would not use the royal again - very dissapointed.

Very "tired" hotel in need of a complete refurb. Poor value given the price of other excellent 4 star hotels in the area. Noisy area at night.

Hotel had a nice feel to it felt at ease straight away , the decor is in need of a refurb as quite tired but then it is old . the ground floor areas were lovely and the staff were excellent. Breakfast was also 10/10. compared to other hotels in Llandudno we have stayed in, this one is a definite winner

Choice of meals for different days poor.no evening meal on saturday due to a wedding.breakfast choice poor and hotel lacked atmosphere.the hotel seemed tired and dated.

It has a mad internal layout almost like a tardis in nature.

It needs some serious work inside (redecoration) to bring it up to the standard that the name suggests.

It was a pleasant old-fashioned hotel with some good public rooms and an outside terrace with good views over the gardens and to the distant mountains. The vintage lift worked well provided patrons remembered to close the doors on leaving it! The location was good - between the East and West Bays, close to the Cable Tramway, and convenient for restaurants, etc.

The Bedroom, which had a lovely outlook, was remarkably spartan - no chairs and only the single bed faced the tv (excellent) which was fairly high upon the wall, and wasn't very comfortable as a settee from which to view it. The old-fashioned dressing table and wardrobe were awkwardly placed and the drawers hard to handle. Dinner was available some evenings.It was good value for money at £15 but not very exciting. There was not a single hook in the bedroom or bathroom, and we were only provided at the outset with a single small tablet of soap.

Friendly from the minute we arrived - the staff couldn't have done more for us.

Absolutely no complaints

I arrived 20 minutes before check-in time, but was welcomed with a complimentary coffee whilst the room was made ready. The Reception and Breakfast Room staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The comfortable room had a useful surface for a laptop, with power-supply, for use of the free wi-fi facility. The cost of the room, including an excellent breakfast, was very good value.

The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. One of our party was disabled and they changed the room as soon as they saw the problem. The room for disabilities was very good, a shower with a seat and wide enough for a wheelchair. Food was good, cooked breakfast with fruit juices, cereals and fruit to start. Plenty of toast and all meals were served on hot plates.

It was on a hill which was difficult when using a wheelchair.

Very relaxing and peacefull. Hotel staff extremely friendly and helpfull Nothing was too much trouble.

Dissapointed with en-suite - Was advertised as luxury which it was not, shower head only four feet high.
