All good room compact but comfortable bed an all mod cons - wifi and tele a bit temperamental but mnothing major - staff great evening meal good and nice friendly staff - breakfast was great value good quality and loads of if - locals friendly and parking FOC all round good experience
The environment and proximity to the motorway. The Royal Oak atmosphere was very enjoyable, with the local personnel/regulars very friendly. Breakfast was good and service was as expected throughout . The comfort of the beds afforded a very good nights sleep
The bathroom door had no means of securing shut , in that it didn't latch on the frame sear and had no bolt . One of the rooms that our elderly friends stayed in had an odd smell of damp/fustiness and was hardly bedroom size ( more box room). It was necessary to back onto the toilet , as the shower base gave no space for the toilet access. My friend caught the shower base prior to using the toilet , fell over the toilet and damaged their shoulder . The outcome was his inability to continue to drive down to Devon , 4 hours in Barnstaple A&E and only the use of one vehicle for the majority of our fortnights holiday . I wouldn't recommend this location for other personnel . The staff are very amiable , assistive and do a good job , but we would not use the Royal Oak again , if the only room was the one our friends had .
Every thing, had a good laugh and a few beers. Great pub food. Will certainly use again.
Nice little pub, staff and locals very friendly, good food.
Was disappointed our room wasn't actually in the pub, our room was very small and smelt a bit damp. We stayed for two nights and our cups were not changed.
Very friendly welcome, lovely location, good breakfast, although not pleased with the state of bathroom we would stay again.
Bathrooms need attention - tiles need to be put down in bathroom, carpet very unhygienic. Radiator needs painting, all rusty. Needs shelf above sink.
Service at the restaurant, Good location
Separate bungalow type rooms with own front door. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful. The breakfast was superb.
The room had a slight smell of the toilet which was a saniflow. I had trouble checking out could not find anyone to take payment.
location and facilities
bathroom was in need of a full refurd
Very small room, otherwise everything was good.
Clean rooms Friendly staff Really easy to reorganize booking
Cannot fault them, everything was great
Breakfast too late no alternative offered
breakfast was reasonable. price of room was good.
requires a good cleaning .
had to leave early missed breakfast not much effort to accommodate anything no cereal no milk no coussants just a bacon sandwich from previous night although checkout is from 7
Friendly staff, clean room, good breakfast, very pleasant location, very good value for money.
Wifi did not work for me. Our particular room had everything we needed functionally but was a bit too cramped for our taste. I think other rooms may have been larger.
Friendly atmosphere, good food, comfortable room.
pleasant friendly staff nice rural location
We needed to leave early the next morning. The owner very kindly supplied us with sufficient cereals, milk etc for our breakfast. So we could leave at our required time. The staff were very helpful Thanks
Giant cooked breakfast included in very reasonable room rate. Good reasonably priced pub food for dinner too.
Good value, clean, tidy, dog friendly, helpful staff.
Had to leave before Breakfast as didnt start serving until 08.30 even though checkout times started at 07.00
Couldn't fault the place, staff brilliant, lovely and clean. Will recommend and will be returning!
The effort being made to accommodate guests. Evening meal very good. steak cooked perfectly, banana fritters to die for.
The carpet and tiles in bathroom.
Like the location and atmosphere
Bathroom needs updating and some of the pub does too
Varied and extensive menu in pub - although one of our first choices had run out 2/3days earlier. 3 cask beers at the bar but only one available.
Tiny room at the back of the pub - past the kitchen and calor gas bottles. The room was so small I had to 'edge' past the bottom of the bed. Generous tea/coffee sachets but the cream cartons were out of date. Smallest sink in the ensuite, that I have ever seen! The toilet cistern made an awful noise when refilling. Wifi only available in the bar and not in the room. Breakfast was poor - no cereal or juice, bacon lukewarm, I could count the number of baked beans on two hands! Cartons of cream - out of date again. After breakfast when we wanted to check out, we found the premises locked and bolted with no one around - we could have been told about this at breakfast -half an hour previously.
The staff were all very friendly & accommodating. Our 3 year old was asked what she would like both for dinner & breakfast. The room was lovely & clean & the price was excellent - great value for money.
No wifi unfortunately but it wasn't really necessary for 1 night.
Staff friendly. Clean bedroom. Good breakfast. Good location. I would stay again.
Toilet seat did not fit. Why carpet on bathroom floor?. Breakfast table not laid up. Side plate missing(had to request) No sauces,Jams/butter on table.
