The pub has just been taken over by a new landlord who was a great host and very accomodating. Throughly recommend to anyone.
It is in the middle of nowhere, so no shops anywhere nearby, and despite arriving after 8pm, we were still able to order a nice meal. The staff were friendly, the room was comfortable, the breakfast was fine, a nice carefree stay.
The hotel beauty and the setting, the staff were very friendly and obliging. Good food and excellent ambience in the restaurant and outlook from our bedroom.
The roads were dangerous getting to and from the hotel. Several rude and intolerant drivers encountered, obviously locals who knew the roads. NOT the hotels fault so no reflection on the accommodation and staff.
The peace and quiet and the breakfast!
A lovely 15th century Inn in the middle of a beautiful village, off road parking available, the room was comfortable and clean with en suite (our room had a large bath but no shower) there was plenty of hot water to fill bath. Staff where friendly and helpful they didn't mind bedraggled travellers. We would defiantly go back and would recommend to family and friends a great place to stay.
A little difficult to find (can be found with sat nav) well worth finding. Room was a bit on the small side but it is a 15th century building
Location is superb
Strictly limited choice of refreshments at the bar. Not everyone is a fan of real ale! Pricey, too. We'll soon be at the £5 glass of wine stage. This establishment had a Michelin rating in 2008, but that was probably before the garden was allowed to overgrow and doors and gates were broken.
Nice rural location, polite and helpful staff, good food, building had lots of character.
Had to go down very narrow lanes to get to it.
The location is beautiful, the building is wonderfully ancient and full of history. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. At £65 it is relatively good value for money compared with other BnBs in the area.
It was a long way to get to it being so remote. We couldn't find the front door when we got there the place was closed it wasn't clear how to get in! The breakfast was a bit average (the coffee was very weak).
Peace and quiet, good food, lovely room.
Fantastic location. Some may find it isolated. The Inn is about to change hands. The staff were only temporary but excellent as was the food.
No mobile phone signal.Land line available but not in the room as yet,the same with a television. The Inn was difficult to find,no sign on the road and no sat nav signal .
LOVELY PLACE TO STAY STAFF WAS VERY WELCOMING BEER WAS GOOD ROOMS WERE VERY CLEAN LOVELY PLACE TO RELAX WILL RETURN AGAIN
THINK THERE COULD BEEN MORE TO CHOOSE FROM ON THE MENU NICE PLOUGHMAN WOULD BEEN NICE OR SOME HOME MADE DISHES
Location is ideal for those who like peace and quiet. Very welcoming and pleasant owners. The tiny bar is a friendly place, although on Sunday's is only open for a short time, also if there on a Sunday, there are no evening meals, but a 5 mile drive to a nearby village pub had meals. We enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful location. Good food which was reasonably priced. Quick service at breakfast with hot food cooked to order. Friendly staff. No televisions.
Michelle and Stuart made our stay very enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble for this hard working couple. The food was excellent. Good value for money. Will definitely be back in the future.
There was nothing we didn't like.
We had a very nice 2 night break at the Royal Oak Inn in mid May. Very pretty location, spotlessly clean rooms and good food. The couple presently running the hotel were amazing, really couldn`t do enough for you. We would definately return.
There was nothing to dislike here.
very good price and lovely setting, helpful and friendly staff
Helpful staff Beautiful location
Friendly service. Staff friendly, nice food.
Not much to do in this location.
Waking up and looking at the view. The way I was greeted, the breakfast, the cleanliness. Its a shame that there wasn't a spar and free bar on arrival - I may have marked it excellent for facilities.
NO TV IN ROOM OR SHOWER.
Liked the babbling brook, the cleanliness of the room and the cooked breakfast
Too far away from Dunster, no phone signal, no tv in room
It was old and quirky. Very quiet and peaceful. The location was a perfect English countryside and enjoyable
The atmosphere The location The clean, spacious room The friendly. helpful staff
location olde world charm price helpful manageress (when there)
breakfast staff did'nt turn up and as it was manageress's day off the place was deserted with no access into bar etc, we just dumped keys with a note and left-hungry. spoke to pub next day and reduction given but cost of food in D.unster means we are out of pocket
