Food was exceptionally good - really interesting menu. Room was generous size with comfortable bed. Will stay here again with no hesitation.
Bathroom a bit small.
excellent food, accomodation and staff
Everything, location, food, hospitality, local transport, hornblower was very informative, cinema is lovely. I could go on and on and on
Fantastic Location, Food Is Amazing !!! Highly Recommend Eating Here, We Stayed In Room 8 Which Was A Large Room Comfy Bed & A Up To Date Coffee Machine :-) Lush Will be Coming Back :-)
Amazing food and ultra friendly staff. Lovely room and linen. Food unexpectedly good. Real cuisine, not just gastropub.
No lift and lots of stairs. Parking tricky.
Very reasonable bar prices
Slow service at breakfast
I would have liked to open the bedroom window, and I couldn't make the shower work - both my fault - I could have asked!
Wonderful hotel ideally situated for roaming the city. The menu looked inviting but we were visiting relatives and had an evening meal with them, otherwise we would have eaten in. Breakfast was very nice and sufficient. Staff-wonderful.
Car park. It was difficult to find down a back alley very limited space and the surface was muddy as it was raining. Alternative parking would be beneficial if it can be arranged. Otherwise a wonderful stay.
Breakfast had gluten free breadh
Thought fair price £50,?80too much.
Great staff, really delicious food and much care and attention has been put into making this a real gem. Definitely recommended!
Wonderful comfortable room and friendly staff
Water pipes made a racket, this was an old building so kind of understandable.
Car park was very small and didn't feel safe.
Very comfortable room and good ensuite. The staff were very warm and friendly and the breakfast was superb as was the food ordered from the evening menu. A wonderful view of the cathedral from the room.
Sometimes we found the room a little too warm at night and did not want to open window as we were close to conversations at the outdoor smoking area BUT NOT every night.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room with large comfy bed. Great bar and restaurant area, evening meal and breakfast was fab, really Can't fault a thing!!
the character that the management is trying to sustain, the location, the staff even the workmen were friendly, the hotel will be even nicer when renovation finished, but they did not intrude in our stay in any way
the sausages but that was a personal taste thing lol
Good food, excellent Sunday lunch, beef to die for. Good location for cathedral
Workmen started 5am repairing roof in bar. We're never told prior to booking , little disappointed , but I guess this will be a one off.
This is a lovely pub with excellent choice of real ales, the meals in the restaurant are very good also the pub is close to all amenities and for the price we paid very good!
Rooms not 4 star odd paint splash /chip, loose tile etc but nice 3 star for money
Timothy Taylor's beer Food
No hot water for a shower No key upon arrival Poor inexperienced staff serving and behind the bar
The location was excellent and the staff were friendly
The room was cramped largely because the bed was too big for the space. The water in the shower was tepid and the extractor fan was not effective so the room smelled a bit damp. The décor was tired
Comfy Rooms excellent Breakfast very friendly staff and a well stocked Bar. Will definitely be back.
Friendly and helpful staff Really excellent dinner and breakfast Quaint layout Warm comfortable rooms Fast wifi with no signal drop out and no password to remember. Very reasonable prices for room, food and beer.
Limited free parking (pay space close by)
Where the Royal Oak is located
Parking is very tight
location was good
The Solicitors alarm system across the road -we were advise had been a problem for some time which operates randomly. As we were in the front room it meant we were kept awake for most part of the night as the alarm operated several times. These solicitors are not inconvenience by this problem because it happens at nights and the week ends--thanks very much!!
The food was outstanding and the room although a bit on the small was very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming. Would stay again without hesitation.
This is a fine old inn, just a couple of minutes' walk from the main square in one direction and the cathedral in another. The rooms are well-appointed with modern fittings. There was a good selection available for breakfast and it was beautifully cooked and promptly served. The dinner menu looked enticing, and there are many other eating places nearby.
Because Ripon is an old, hill-top town with narrow streets, it's a little difficult to find the hotel, and one has to go around a couple more corners to access the parking at the rear. Those who have difficulty with stairs should be aware that, by the nature of this sort of inn, there are several flights to negotiate.
