Score from 648 reviews Good
Bit shabby, not easy to find car park.
Staff very helpful and pleasant.
Decor in room needed a lot of up dating.
Friendly staff. 24 hr access.
Mattress was very uncomfortable. Easy entrance when pub open but long winding walk with lots of steps to get in/out when pub shut. Especially when you're on the top floor and dragging a suitcase with you.
In the centre of the town. Bedding was lovely and clean, fresh towels put out. Staff friendly. Couldn't hear any noise from the pub downstairs even though they had a disco on til 2 in the morning. Free on site parking.
To be fair there's nothing I can complain about, only 'bad' thing I can really say is the decor is rather dated and shabby.
Very friendly staff
No lift - long climb to the top floor
Window in bedroom would not open to allow air in during hot weather could do with a lick of paint .
location; friendly, helpful staff; excellent food; reasonable prices.
bar closing at 8pm and food at 7pm on Sundays
Spotless bedding. Cheap for outskirts of London.
Noise front and back of hotel. Room could have been cleaner. Beds not made in the morning. Tea/coffee making facilities not cleaned or topped up in the morning.
Ideal location for local amenities and not far from M25.
Room at the front next to High Street meant fair amount of street noise.
Very poor hotel
Staff very rude
Breakfast is good, parking is easily accessible once found. Hot water is piping hot, sheets are changed every day. relatively quiet.
Parking was hard to find as its on a multi story section behind the hotel.
The location and cost was spot on (and the only other plus was the door man who directed us to a lovely indian restaurant just round the corner) .. however !!
If I had known that a quiet room (which was actually meant to be a family room) meant being kept awake because the room was over the main bar with loud music till 2 am then I might have risked asking for a noisy room instead! I realise this is a budget price but that doesn't usually mean that it involves a reduction in sleep too .. we needed a nice overnight stay after a long drive ready for bsb racing at Brands Hatch the next day but instead got hardly any sleep
Clean, great value for money, main building has great character.
Very basic, room furnishings and fittings in need of updating.
The staff are friendly and helpful, the food was nice plenty of choice. The bed linen and towels clean and fresh.
Very scruffy decor, could really do with a refurbishment. Its not very clear where the carpark is. Once in the car park there is an entrance to the hotel, which is great. Maybe if it was refurbished a better system for the doors could be installed as there are 4 separate keys to enter the hotel after the doors are locked.
Ovn high street.
Could not order food after seven.very hot room, no fans.very noisy till two.not much sleep at all.
Door left unlocked by cleaner, thankfully nothing missing. Dreadful whine from McDonalds extraction fan up the road. How did they get permission for that thing to whine 24 hours per day? Room tired and uncared for - looked like dor had been in a fight, and doorframe replaced? Arrived Sunday evening to find they stooped serving food at 8, last orders 7.30. I was too late. And the car park is near impossible to find - had to ask a policeman!
The cleanliness of the room.
Staff didn't explain what key was for what door and show how to get out of building when pub door was shut.
We found the breakfast excellent and not a lot of waiting around. Hotel suited us price wise. Water hot, bed clean. Room had all we needed. We would stay again as central to locations needed.
Expected with date of place to be OLD but in places needed a face lift. Could do with sign saying Name of hotel for parking. Room not cleaned twice. Girl knocked once, checked we had tea but didn't return later when we went out Confusing getting to room. Had to ask in bar for coffee.
Comfortable bed, location
No breakfast at weekends, but thankfully plenty of other choice locally even on a Sunday
Better demolished! Bed had springs sticking through, poorly ventilated, primitive plumbing. Inadequately staffed, bad to find car entrance. Noise all night 24 hour loading and unloading of lorries behind, impossible to sleep.no breakfast included Sunday or monday,or dinner .either. This definitely gets a Z.Z.Z. Rating, and for the reputation of booking.com should be struck off immediately.
Pub had character, was very local to all amenities and the theatre, with free parking. Was a bit shabby but clean and you get what you pay for. All in all I would stay again and thought it was good value for money. Staff were really friendly and accommodating.
Bathroom was a bit too shabby.
I very much enjoyed staying in such an historic building and found the staff to be very friendly.
Price and ease of check-in and availability
Desperately needs a new shower!
I liked the bar area and the staff were polite
The rooms could do with an update.
