Central location to town. Reasonably priced for an overnight stay.
Bedroom was very cold even though we left the heater on all night.
Door lock jamming, difficult to open, impossible to lock. Bathroom condition poor. Parking hard to find, need to supply a map.
The bar . The car park . The staff
The musty corridors. The confusing fire exit route. The room and the bathroom.
The smoky corridors, filthy room and sharing with DSS!
Milk for tea and coffee was out of date, slightly warm water but no hot water, hair in plug hole almost blocking it, general cleanliness was not good
bed uncomfortable..room cold..milk not refilled..shower/bath needs updating..
We liked the thought that we could of had a nice evening with all amenities available, food, bar pool table, live sports.
The fact that I reserved a table for dinner at 7pm on the kingsfeast website on the 22nd for 2 people got confirmation by email, Then when we got there may I add at 2.55 with 5 mins to spare to check us in as the lady on hotel reception was leaving at 3 she informed me there was no reservation for dinner but because it wasn't that busy there was no need to book. We explained to a girl behind bar that I had booked a table for dinner however it wasnt noted she told us the kitchen closes at 7 (why did I get confirmation that a table was confirmed) we said we would be back before 7 for dinner. We came back at 5 to watch football set up a tab for the evening, when upstairs to our room to freshen up came back at 6.40 only to be told the kitchen was closed, after explaining my situation the bar staff member he said he could ask the manager who is also a chef to make us what we wanted which was a 3 course dinner each! He came back said thats not a problem. The manager appeared to say that everything was shout down in the kitchen but she could make us 'a sandwich' which we declined and went somewhere else for food. We reclunctanly returned to the victoria and bull hotel as we had paid for a bed for the night in the hope that we could enjoy a game of pool and relax in the back bar as it was queit and the most relaxing part of the bar. Asking for change to play pool was informed the pool table would be closed and we couldn't sit in the rised bar area as the funiture would be kept there I assume this was the table and chairs from the bar as they made a large dance area. So after being most disappointed and upset about not being able to eat at the rvb (the kings feast menu is actually the best pub grub I've seen in a while)and not being told that infact the chef decides when he wants to close the kitchen. All in all our experience wasn't what I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong I know i didn't pay 5star prices but it's the principle.
Disappointed with the cleanliness of accommodation.
Very interesting hotel. Lots of quirky features.
Shower in poor condition Mouldy windows Location of car park (hard to find)
Great location for Orchard Theatre, railway, etc. Very quaint and historic old hotel, decent range of beers. Good to have car parking available. Simple but clean, fair value.
Parking hard to find if not a local - need better instructions, such as a map.
location, price and staff
no TV remote and no breakfast on a number of mornings
Position Low noise food and drink available downstairs easy access to room spacious, comfortable room
Couldn't close one window properly and cars were parked immediately outside my window-security risk
good atmosphere, food in bar, also small lunch counter reasonable prices. Wifi worked in most areas of hotel.
need newer mattress, was difficult for senior couple with heavy suitcases to navigate stairs.(carry your own)
The central location. Interesting, historic building.
No cereal, fruit etc at breakfast
The history - 18th century connection with Richard Trevethick. Nice clean, fresh sheets.
Set in a pedestrianised area it is very difficult to find by car. I drove around the town twice to find the back entrance to the car park. Almost got trapped in the wrong car parking area. There were no helpful suggestions or signage. A bit of a nightmare in the dark when you are tired. Food very standard pub fare; breakfast poor - no cereals, no fruit, no bread and marmalade...
The old character of the building
The disco downstairs was so noisy it made the room vibrate, & this went on till 2 o'clock in the morning!!!
It was convenient to a wedding we were attending. Pleasantly suprised not as bad as the reviews had said. It wasn't the most modern place but it was spacious and had character. We didn't hear any late night music even though it was on until 2 am. It was clean and the staff were friendly. We would stay here again.
There wasn't any toilet roll and the bathroom needed a bit of love and care.
Bit shabby, not easy to find car park.
Staff very helpful and pleasant.
Decor in room needed a lot of up dating.
Door from car park was locked, no bell to ring, called the phone number given but no answer. Had to wait for a fellow guest to let me in. Very noisy room - was overlooking Dartford High Street on a Saturday night.
When you are dying for a wee, from a long journey and no staff assisting you finding your room that took you and your family to find plus a baby crying it was a terrible experience. You're so tired and need to sleep but you can't because of the noise from the disco area.
Friendly staff. 24 hr access.
Mattress was very uncomfortable. Easy entrance when pub open but long winding walk with lots of steps to get in/out when pub shut. Especially when you're on the top floor and dragging a suitcase with you.
In the centre of the town. Bedding was lovely and clean, fresh towels put out. Staff friendly. Couldn't hear any noise from the pub downstairs even though they had a disco on til 2 in the morning. Free on site parking.
To be fair there's nothing I can complain about, only 'bad' thing I can really say is the decor is rather dated and shabby.
Very friendly staff
No lift - long climb to the top floor
