Was a nightclub, wasn't stated in advert, filthy rooms, manky bathroom, spoke to one friendly member of staff, all round disappointment unfortunately.
whole place needs an urgent refurbishment.
to meny stairs bed room light hanging over the bed bathroom plaster falling away from the wall under sink bedroom windows not cleaned inside one window catch not working.
Out of date, poor decor. For such an old building potential for character lost.
Staff were friendly.
No bad experiences but the guest side could do with a bit of a makeover. A little dated but not expensive so no real complaints.
The staff were freindly, the room and bedding was clean. We had an evening meal in the bar which was exclent "pub Grub" and we were pleased to find our that the drinks were discounted for guests. The full English breakfast was freshly cooked to order, a nice start to the day. Good value for the money
It was a perfect location for where I was working
Very basic with old and worn furnishings and fittings. Noisy town center streets outside on a weekend
It was a bed for the night at short notice with very friendly and helpful staff. Bed linen and towels were clean and plentiful
The free "Disco" on saturday night!
HARD TO FIND CAR PARK
CENTRAL FOR TOWN
In desperate need of a paint job. The hand basin badly cracked although the bath was clean the handle on the side was corroded and bathside badly chipped
The bed linen was pristine and room was clean
Bed is too soft, and the so called Free WiFI doesn't really work in the room, due to the signal being too weak in the room (to far away from the WifI routers, or not enough WiFi access points)
location and services
There were hairs in the bath & a shelf behind the bed was very dusty. Crack in wash basin. Cups weren't cleaned properly.
The lady on reception was very friendly & helpful. Good night sleep & lovely fresh linen on the bed.
location excellent, staff very friendly, comfortable room. No noise from bar.
as a tall person it was a bit low in places
If I hadn't been before it would be impossible to find. No signage from entry to car park except a hotel sign there was no name. The mattress was the worst I have ever slept on, ALL the metal springs were sticking through, very uncomfortable. Room 311 I did mention it at reception when I checked out Would I like breakfast? yes please, no menu or choices I received a full english
Long bath which I could lay down in Quiet location
Bedroom was very cold even though we left the heater on all night.
Central location to town. Reasonably priced for an overnight stay.
Door lock jamming, difficult to open, impossible to lock. Bathroom condition poor. Parking hard to find, need to supply a map.
The musty corridors. The confusing fire exit route. The room and the bathroom.
The bar . The car park . The staff
The smoky corridors, filthy room and sharing with DSS!
Milk for tea and coffee was out of date, slightly warm water but no hot water, hair in plug hole almost blocking it, general cleanliness was not good
bed uncomfortable..room cold..milk not refilled..shower/bath needs updating..
The fact that I reserved a table for dinner at 7pm on the kingsfeast website on the 22nd for 2 people got confirmation by email, Then when we got there may I add at 2.55 with 5 mins to spare to check us in as the lady on hotel reception was leaving at 3 she informed me there was no reservation for dinner but because it wasn't that busy there was no need to book. We explained to a girl behind bar that I had booked a table for dinner however it wasnt noted she told us the kitchen closes at 7 (why did I get confirmation that a table was confirmed) we said we would be back before 7 for dinner. We came back at 5 to watch football set up a tab for the evening, when upstairs to our room to freshen up came back at 6.40 only to be told the kitchen was closed, after explaining my situation the bar staff member he said he could ask the manager who is also a chef to make us what we wanted which was a 3 course dinner each! He came back said thats not a problem. The manager appeared to say that everything was shout down in the kitchen but she could make us 'a sandwich' which we declined and went somewhere else for food. We reclunctanly returned to the victoria and bull hotel as we had paid for a bed for the night in the hope that we could enjoy a game of pool and relax in the back bar as it was queit and the most relaxing part of the bar. Asking for change to play pool was informed the pool table would be closed and we couldn't sit in the rised bar area as the funiture would be kept there I assume this was the table and chairs from the bar as they made a large dance area. So after being most disappointed and upset about not being able to eat at the rvb (the kings feast menu is actually the best pub grub I've seen in a while)and not being told that infact the chef decides when he wants to close the kitchen. All in all our experience wasn't what I thought it would be. Don't get me wrong I know i didn't pay 5star prices but it's the principle.
We liked the thought that we could of had a nice evening with all amenities available, food, bar pool table, live sports.
Disappointed with the cleanliness of accommodation.
Very interesting hotel. Lots of quirky features.
Shower in poor condition Mouldy windows Location of car park (hard to find)
