Liked the owner and management. They were helpful. The hotel is central to the town and it was fun. Did not like the many, many steps because of my arthritic knees.

Location and Breakfast ! It was pleasant enough for our one night stopover travelling back from Scotland....! It is typical of all similar Victorian properties nowadays and good luck to these owners in attempting to keep them alive! Don't pay any attention to any negative reviews....if you expect 5Star treatment go elsewhere and pay the 5Star prices...The Royal was excellent value and suited our purpose!!!!

We had a very clean, comfortable, quiet twin room overlooking the river with lovely outlook. Staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Breakfast very good in the lovely dining room. What a shame so many of our elegant Victorian hotels are being allowed to fade away because they are often so big and expensive to maintain. You really feel a bit special in surroundings like these...we really should try to support them so that they aren`t allowed to fade away. The solid walls built by the Victorians ensure a quiet night in a way that many modern buildings never will. Nothing that immediately springs to mind.

Lots of cafe restaurants, in vicinity, breakfast excellent. Easy route to snowdonia.. Good parking, if its not full. Llangollen really just for tourists. Parking free overnight, suggestion that hotel could help with letter for later morning start, but didn't test this. Very busy in the summer.

The hotel was built a long long time ago so this is felt in the creaking floors worn stair carpet and aged feel. It isn't exactly a luxury hotel but things like fresh towels and toiletries every day where nice little touches. The staff where very quick polite and helpful and the location is beyond excellent. I have booked to go again in the autumn. nothing
