Newly refurbished, clean and free parking!
Was good for a night out, however as its a grade II listed building there is no double glazing and the floors leak sound from the nightclub below. This is no problem if you're planning on having a night out, however if not then I would not reccomend for regular use. The hotel has also very recently been done up, and the room we were in had been done up as well so it's all very modern and well kept.
Clean and friendly with great food. Excellent bar selection with Doon Bar on tap
Beds a little lumpy and the occassional spring boooonging in your bum. Music in the bar is more suited to the younger generation
Very helpful staff, clean rooms, good tv
Bed was a little hard
The location was great for what we needed, nicely decorated and modern, yet classic. Didn't try the restaurant or bar but looked nice. Nice staff.
The noise at night was a lot worse than we thought it would be, due to the fact that they have a club at the hotel underneath the bedrooms. Although they do send you an email to warn you about noise levels, it seems to carry on well after 3am (probably drunken wanderers). Just be warned of that problem, otherwise it was nice.
staff we're very helpful and polite.
The bar was spacious modern and good variety.
limited car park space and the key swipe for rooms was awful.
The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful and very well turned out. It's just a shame that the hotel wasn't up to the same standard.
The hotel room we received was not as advertised or what we paid for. The furniture in the room was damaged there were drawer handles missing the glass tops to bed side tables were smashed as were the side table and condiments table. The bath had a crack in it and the sinks were dirty. I won't be visiting again and I would advise others not to.
Breakfast was ok
We were very disappointed that there was no bar due to renovation, we were not informed of this and were very dissapointed, we have stayed at The Royal numerous times over the years, and the bar was the highlight of our stay, if we had been informed we would possibly have booked in somewhere else.
The hotel was comfortable and good value I had an issue with a window which would not close to keep out the noise the staff were very apologetic and the issue resolved and they gave me a free breakfast
New bar looked really nice x
Dirty room black long hair all over floor looked like had not been hoovered in a year, bathroom door had holes in looked like had been a fight. My bed was broken, very noisey untill 3am and cold due to windows no good at all.
The location staff were helpful
I was put into 2 rooms already occupied, one by the bride getting changed for her big day. Breakfast was atrocious - very poor quality ingredients
Breakfast Staff TV Tea/Biscuits
Wifi did not work in room Creaky floorboards Leak of toilet
The look of the bar restaurant that wasn`t open
On arrival I was told kitchen was not operating, so no breakfast. Unprepared in other aspects also.
Could only use hotel as a bedroom, for reasons above.
Arrived at the hotel to find no bar facilities, no breakfast facilities, woken at 7.30 on saturday morning by circular saw
No breakfast, restaurant or bar due to renovation Slightly expensive for current state of the hotel Renovations not up to a very high standard Room still smelt of paint and other building materials
The location is two minutes walk from the office and very close to restaurants, so very convenient for business. They also have a large car park and allowed me to leave the car there all day until I had finished my business.
The hotel was under refurbishment, but I didn't know this until after I had booked the room. I would still have stayed, as it was conveniently located, and there was little availability elsewherethat night. My room was on the side of the hotel. A skip was loaded up outside my window, which was noisy - it would be better to keep the skip away from bedroom windows. Presumebly this is only a temporary problem during refurbishment.
with wifi near commercial centre
bed is hard and toilet become wet cause the bath tub don't have cover.
Major refurbishment going on. Just a building site. No facilities such as bar / food. Couldn't park the car. Lost 2 hours which I had allocated to do some work. Got re-located at greater cost to me.
Staff was kind and helpful.
Downstairs of this hotel is a pub/club with live music playing extremely loud music till at least 3 am. All we needed was a good night sleep and that's the one thing the hotel couldn't provide. Everything else was fine. Showers weren't great.
Not clean, not comfy, over priced breakfast if not having the full English. Not warned about scaffolding going up at 8 am on a Sunday morning right outside room window!!! Need to pay more attention to hotel side and not just bar and nightclub side!
Staff were very friendly
My room was on the road and the sound of the cats passing by was too loud
Staff very good. breakfast good..
Stairs, noise, also black tape holding draws... in bedroom .
Everything was amazing
