The staff were really pleasant. The rooms are really old fashioned and not in a quaint way. Furniture was well past its best. The food I ordered in the restaurant did not taste of anything except old cooking oil. I was booked in to stay 2 nights but checked out after my first night. Hope all overseas travellers don't think this is the standard off all hotels in Scotland.

Friendly staff, excellent food, quick service. Didn't have a lift, would be a problem with mobility issues, and it's not mentioned on the web site.

Cannot fault this hotel. Would have liked a bigger room + a bath but for the price - absolutely cannot complain

It was awful and very unfriendly and unhelpful staff. I was asked to pay bill upon my arrival which was very rude and I was not given a refund when I complained about my room.

The reception area was nicely decorated. The bar was friendly and cosy. The meal we had was excellent and reasonably priced. The room we had was adequate, but quite small. There was a bar of wood across the door to the en-suite which could be tripped over - this was mentioned to the owner.

When arrived staff was very friendly and helped carry bags to our room. The room was small but enough space and was clean. Bathroom was clean and had an excellent shower and clean towels. Bed was very good and had clean liner and had good heating. We had dinner on second night and menu was very good and food was cooked very well and prices were reasonable.Over all we were pleased with our stay and at £100 for two nights for two people including breakfast it was excellent value for money and we use The Royal Hotel again Mr. D. Madden Ayrshire Car park was a bit small and had to phone hotel to get in after midnight but took less than a minute for staff to let us in this did not make any differance to our stay.

The staff were friendly and the room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The food in the restaurant was very nice and the service was excellent. The Hotel was in a perfect position to explore the town and Scotland. Parking was limited to about six cars so if the Hotel was busy you would have to park in one of the town car parks a short walk from the Hotel were you would have to pay a daily rate.

This is the closest to Faulty Towers that I have stayed in. They have no idea about customer service - can't serve breakfast at a reasonable hour for people to go to work. Offered to provide a packed lunch for breakfast. There was a fire alarm at 8pm and nobody from the staff knew what to do. Thank goodness it was a false alarm.

Friendly, welcoming and very helpful staff. Comfortable bed, nice clean linen and towels. Great shower. The breakfasts during our stay were adequate but poor in comparison to previous stays and disappointed there weren't more staff to deal with a hotel that was very busy.

The staff were very pleasant and the receptionist were especially nice. The easiness of getting to the golf courses pleased us. The parking for cars was not good at times. We felt that a little shelf in the shower would have made a difference when having a shower. Otherwise the breakfasts were excellent and although we only ate in one night the food was well cooked and of a high standard.

bed was very comfortable. Breakfast very good. There is a bar inside the hotel that seemed crowd and enjoyable but we had no time to try. one of the towel was previously used by another guest. I was there for one night and I did not complaint, However staff should be more careful when cleaning.
