Nothing couldn't open the window because had spiderwebs all over it so it hasn't been clean shower didn't work room was a mess the hotel was a mess
The decor was modern and minimal. I was particularly impressed by the morning wake up call advising of their breakfast facilities. All it is by far the best hotel in Harrogate - I will be returning for sure. Savage House provides spacious bathroom facilities with a comfortable flooring under foot. The security was top notch and the room was ready earlier than expected. All in all I was very fond of Savage House and would quite happily spend a fortnight there
Tthe list is to long . Booking.com need to inspect this property or better still go and stay a night just to see the state it is in!
Strange Hotel, no reception, arrived at 5.00pm, and the lady on duty couldnt find my booking but checked me in anyway? We went to the room but it hadnt been made up...AT 5.00PM? I was asked to come back...which was a pain as I was already tired and just wanted a cool shower. The room was ok, a little dated in decor but ok. Their was no milk or non decaff coffee in the room, no staff to ask for extra, and no breakfast offered.
Avoid this hotel if you know whats good for you!
Very shabby No breakfast Carpet in bathroom yuk
Décor tired and grubby, bathroom needed renewing, shower a warm dribble!
There was no one in the hotel on arrival, we had to phone a number and were told a key was on the front desk - they thought we were in room five !!! We were admitted by a remote intercom entry system. They do not offer any breakfas, although advertised on their web site and the room was very shabby with wallpaper peeling off. Suggest you look on Tripadvisor for the thoughts of other guests and delist The Ruskin of your hotel list. This is the worst value for money hotel I have stayed in, and would strongly recommend others not to stay there.
We expected the worst after reading the reviews and The Ruskin wasn't as bad as we anticipated. It is very dated and a little run down. Clearly no money has been invested in it for many years. There's no reception but we were met and given our key. There are no food facilities. We had a large double which, though dated, was roomy and clean. The bed was comfortable. The shower was only a trickle though. We stayed one night and we're going to a trade fair - it's just opposite so couldn't have been more convenient location wise.
Simple. Big tv.
Shower didn't work. Not much provided by way of toiletries or facilities.
Price Ability to leave luggage
No meals No staff Not clean enough
Nothing very much. We only discovered on arrival that they had no room booked for us & we had to find our way to the Ashley House Hotel that they had transferred us to
Being told that we had a booking with the Ruskin Hotel & then found that my credit card had been debited with £115, by the Ashley House Hotel, before we arrived. We'd never heard of the Ashley House Hotel & despite you efforts to contact the Ruskin to find out what was going on we've not heard back from you.
Advertised as bed and breakfast, kitchen refurbished not told there wasn't any breakfast, they did give us a refund of £50.00 after we complained, wouldn't recommend this place to anyone,
Good location, easy late check in, big period property, large room with good facilities, comfortable bed, relaxed atmosphere, private parking at no extra cost
Breakfast was not available on site although included in the price. Needs more attention to detail around the place.
Location was good for the exhibition i was attending
No staff around - apart from when I arrived (and they took my payment) I didn't see anyone. Kitchen was closed so no breakfast (which I was not informed of before I arrived) shower was boiling hot, pillows were very hard - and there were 2 pillows inside one pillowcase - i like to stagger my pillows so had to take one out of the case which was unpleasant.
Size of room and bathroom. Four poster bed although on the small side
No toiletries in room other than soap. Check in time 4.00 pm bit late most hotels are 2.00 pm. Lack of double sockets.
Dirty linen on doorstep Lack of greeting on arrival No breakfast despite it being booked Peeling wallpaper and damp Old TV on landing with Hoover outside room door Etc etc
Proximity to central Harrogate
A shabby, uncared for exterior complete with dirty mattress stuffed in an industrial wheelie bin inside the entrance. Bags of dirty linen on the front terrace on a Saturday arrival - still there when left on Sunday. Dirt and dust in the room. Exceptionally tired, worn and shabby fixtures, fittings and furnishings. Check in from 16:00!! No one physically on reception. A pleasant enough woman eventually phoned at 17:30 to ask us to return from town to pay for the room we hadn't been able to check into because she wanted to go out. Needs complete overhaul. Avoid for the moment.
Room looks dated and tired and could do with a spruce-up
Nice room , great location , Comfy bed.
We could not get in the hotel when we arrived at 1.30 pm told to come back at 4. We had a wedding to go to. We did not see the hotel owner till the next morning. We only had 1 towel and did not know how to get hold of anyone.
Did not like one single thing
It was dirty. We booked B&B but the owner told us there was no breakfast and to go to weatherspoons. The 3 cups for the tea and coffee were soaking in the bathroom sink and there was no tea or coffee in basket by the kettle. There was only one towel until we informed the owner. there were cobwebs everywhere it was generally disgusting and the bathroom well words cannot describe it mould on the shower head. It was generally disgusting a weekend ruined
Not a 4* by any stretch of imagination The room was not cleaned in 4 days as the owner would show-up right at the time I had just come back from work Impossible to reach owner if not 'bumping' into her (which meant I could get my receipt for expences claim only by sheer luck)
This hotel & owner should not be allowed to advertise on your web site. The hotel is an absolute disgrace with regards to cleanliness & service.
Friendly welcome, nothing too much trouble, excellent service at all times. Location very close to centre of town.
nothing, absolutely fabulous stay and service.
Quiet, pleasant, clean, ideally placed for town centre and main attactions. The owner was very pleasant and accommodating. The room was small bur well equipped with a small shower room in one corner and a wash basin in the opposite corner. This was obviously the result of a conversion to an ensuite room. A single bed just fitted the rest of the room. However, this was a nice room. I was in room 1, which is the first room and has to be passed by everyone else, so I thought I may be wakened by frequent passing of other residents, but the only noise came early in the morning in the form of a rather pleasant mating call from a bird. Some refurbishment was underway, so the kitchen was closed. The lobby had some oriental style furniture which was very interesting. As a single traveller I would recommend this hotel and would go there again.
There was no reception. A key for the room was left and instructions to use the phone on the table. I don't normally look under beds but having dropped something I had to lift The bed which was very dirty underneath. The view from my room was poor overlooking next door's back garden. Access to the car park is terrible. To the right hand side is a rather steep downward slope, which was made more Perilous by the owner’s car which was parked adjacent to it. Turning space at the bottom was very restricted and on leaving the next morning a bigger car was parked there, making it a much worse manoeuvre with one wheel over the edge and the underneath of my car was scraped.
