Close to town
What an untidy grotty hole...dirty bed sheets..filthy carpet..I had to pull a clump of hair out the plug hole in the bath to allow the water to drain away...could only fill the bath with the shower due to a dirty yellow colour water coming out the bath tap
The room was quite nice and large with nice four poster bed. location was very good and close to centre of Harrogate.
Very poor exterior on arriving and nobody on sight although to be fair we did arrive early. There was no breakfast on sight it was at another hotel over the road. The gardens were very messy. Car park at back of hotel was like a scrap yard. The decor in the room was very out dated and needed a bit of tender care. the room was overpriced compared to the hotels we stayed in following this visit on our road trip. Would not stay again which was very disappointing when I saw the hotel online it looked very nice.
Dirty Carpet,leaking shower
It is literally a couple of minutes walk from the centre
There is no reception or any staff on location. If you need any assistance then you have to use the phone in the lobby to call, I presume, the owner who is obviously elsewhere. So as a result checking in times are very restricted as the front door is locked all other times. Although they clearly they have the facilities to provide breakfast they don't. All they offer is a pre booking service for the restaurant in the hotel next door which costs £12.50 per person. Apparently you must pre book and cannot just walk in. Or you could do what we did and get breakfast in Wetherspoons for £3.50 pp, which is conveniently half way, en route to the centre and pretty good for the price. When I sat on the toilet in my room a load of water came out of the back and covered the bathroom floor (and I'm not a particularly heavy guy being just under 13 st) so I had to lay one of the towels on the floor to soak it up. When I came back the following evening I noticed that the towel had been left exactly where I left it on the floor but someone had remade the bed. The decor was quite tired with gaps and mould in the tile work and poorly replaced wall appliances. The bedding wasn't particularly comfortable either. I probably wont be staying here again!
There was no one at check in. There was no heating in my room and after telling someone they just said they would sort it the next day. No help for me. My room was freezing.
No one available to check in. We were left buzzing for ages until a long term resident let us in. Someone finally came to let us in but she was very rude. room was actually ok but did not appreciate a stained carpet in the bathroom. Place very odd and run down. I would avoid at all costs.
Badger experience and walks by Ryland Water. Visiting Grasmere.
We booked for the weekend not knowing what to expect. On arrival Friday evening the place was deserted, although a Japanese lady answered the entryphone and turned up 10 minutes later. The first thing she did was take our credit card payment, which seemed odd although I now see why. The first drama on arrival was that none of the lights in the ensuite bathroom worked. So, instead of going out for a meal, we had to sit around for half an hour until the Polish handyman turned up with a stepladder to do his stuff. The next issue was a broken window. It was too much to expect this to be fixed. No breakfast was on offer, and the shower produced only tepid water. The house appeared to be empty, although the following morning we heard sounds of a scuffle in the corridor. We planned to make our escape as swiftly as possible. Unfortunately, Harrogate being swamped with conference delegates, no other hotel was available and so we had to brave another night. This establishment is a disgrace and has no right to charge £115 for a double room or anything like it. The common parts were filthy in places. A door marked 'cloakroom' hid a deserted bar with unwashed glasses. Another room that looked like a residents' lounge was locked to visitors. Someone has posted a review online suggesting this is 'by far the best hotel in Harrogate'. Presumably it's the owners - anyone else would need their head testing.
Too many stairs and no breakfast and parking lot was full we booked a room for 3 but the room only had 2 cups etc
Location is good
Price No breakfast No staff Out dated decor Nothing provided Highly d
The owner was very nice. The location was excellent. The car parking was okay.
The sheets were clean but there was very little cleaning carried out in the room. The hotel was rather run down. There was no food available in the hotel. There was no bar facilities in the hotel.
I am looking for my money back. No staff on site. Room was filthy with old slippers and dirty tissues under bed. Unbelievable there were toe nail clippings on the floor andf bedside table. The bath had hairs in it. The shower head was broken so squirted water out of back of shower head. black hairs in bath. Leaking toilet so smelly wet area at base of toilet. No coffee or tea or milk on drinks tray just sugar sachets. Phoned the manager who sent someone to clean room but they only emptied the 2 waste bins. After dinner we returned to room and decided the floor and room generally was so filthy that we went searching for a hoover and cleaning liquid and cleaned the room ourselves! This was not an accident as we did have clean sheets so somehow the chambermaid had ignored the rest of the room. But this was not dirt and dust accumulated over a 24 hours period. This was filth and dust built up over a long period of time! The lounger door was locked. There was no breakfast available as no staff apparent We tried to find other accommodation but everything was booked so had to brave it out.
Close to work
No receptionist. No phones answered. Bedroom phone didn't work house was open but no one there. Felt a bit like a horror movie
Bed was a good quality, we did sleep well.
Nothing in room worked, or wasn't supplied like stated on website.
Very dirty room Cleaned quickly for us badly
The room was very comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful and it was very clean when I arrived.
The shower had extremely poor water pressure.
Entrance dirty and scruffy. There was no breakfast provided as advertised and still being advertised . No Bar available as advertised. Room not very clean and I had to phone ask for it to be made up on the second day. Also in the room it stated there were newspapers available these did not appear. No staff were ever around car park was full of refurbishment building materials. owner rude when we asked for a discount which she begrudgingly gave then sent someone to our room on the first day to ask for payment up front we were most insulted. I am sure this hotel could be prosecuted under the trade descriptions act. We have travelled the world and this is the most disgusting hotel we have ever stayed in. How it is four star we do not know.
Nothing couldn't open the window because had spiderwebs all over it so it hasn't been clean shower didn't work room was a mess the hotel was a mess
Location - quiet but near to centre of Harrogate. Have stayed there several times before and like it as a small independent family run hotel.
On this visit, due to refurbishment, there was no bar or breakfast available. Were they expecting us? -On arrival - no one at hotel and contact bell to phone did not work. Fortunately, we had the hotel number on the booking confirmation and was able to make contact but did have to wait on the doorstep for about 10 minutes. We did get a bedroom upgrade as a compensation.
The actual bed sheets were clean.
No reception , so no welcome on arrival or departure, just collect keys off table - very Un secured property. Very dated, £89 wasn't cheap yet no breakfast or any food facilities not even a vending machine . Ran a bath and it was filthy ! Carpets looked grubby as did decor, although kettle tea/coffee left No milk ! And cups where stained . And advertised as parking at rear, well next to the skip bins and rubbish room for 3 cars ! Not impressed with this hotel, 5th visit to Harrogate and highly recommend Cairn hotel 3 min walk up road, paid £75 and got a full English breakfast included.
Didn't bother to unpack. We did not stay after we saw the room, we went home after discussing the situation whilst in Betty's Tea Room.
Broken hotel sign not a good welcome. Parking was for only four cars, and it was full of rubbish. Had to wait 20minutes to be let in, even though there was a staff member inside. Ask to pay before we saw the room (Yes! I know I am stupid). Although the price did not include breakfast, we thought we could buy breakfast - but no - we were told we could go to Weatherspoons. Family room up three floors - no lift. Used soap, hairs in the bath. Empty pint glass, children's bottle tops etc left in room. Nasty black scale in kettle. Very difficult to exit the hotel grounds; some very nice local people offered to stop the traffic so we could get out. No wifi. Certainly not an 'hotel'
The decor was modern and minimal. I was particularly impressed by the morning wake up call advising of their breakfast facilities. All it is by far the best hotel in Harrogate - I will be returning for sure. Savage House provides spacious bathroom facilities with a comfortable flooring under foot. The security was top notch and the room was ready earlier than expected. All in all I was very fond of Savage House and would quite happily spend a fortnight there
The hall had a bad/stale smell. No staff onsite, note on table said to phone a number. Woman arrived 20mins later to say our guaranteed room had been given to someone else but she had an alternative in Ashley House and to follow her there. On arrival, the alternative was totally unacceptable so we declined and left. Customer service was non-existent. Would not recommend either of theses properties, they are definitely not 4* and definitely not worth the £115 being asked. This is also room only as both places say kitchens are being re-furbished. Harrogate council say they have had their food hygiene licence revoked!!! We also believe there are issues with Fire Safety at both premises.
one member of staff in the whole place, nice lady but spread too thin
breakfast was not provided as kitchen was closed, cost did not reflect this. hairs in shower.
