the main hotel was very nice and the bar food excellent! staff were friendly ! the cooked breakfast was really lovely!
The bedroom was supposed to be a double but was actually 2 single beds pushed together with a dip in the middle! very uncomfortable and not good for cuddling!!! The uncooked breakfast was not great! Milk not cold, croissant stale and cheeses and meat did not look appealing as had been standing out too long!
Excellent location, wonderful food and very professional and friendly staff. We had a lovely stay.
The only thing that I would fault was the shower which was maybe down to water pressure but it didn't spoil our stay.
Receptionist was lovely. Room was a good size. Breakfast was brill
Booked a double room. Our 'double' was two twin beds pushed together
The location right in the center of town is fantastic. Breakfasts were of good quality.
The very busy A6 main road that had to be crossed to get from the courtyard bedroom to the facilities in the hotel, in the dark. Not good for an elderly couple. I did not expect to have to put on a big coat in order to go for dinner or breakfast. There was no safety mat for the shower - when undressed ready for my shower I saw the small notice saying you had to request a safety mat from reception. At reception I was advised that I could take one back with me. Wonder what health and safety would say about this omission The booking was made 8/10 weeks before and at no time was we advised that we were not in the hotel. Had I know how far and how difficult is was, for us, to get from the courtyard to the main hotel I would have cancelled the booking The car parking was impossible - we were advised to double park and leave a key at reception. The accommodation was situated between two car parks with no view of anything - the photograph advertising the hotel showed the front of the hotel - not the courtyard. All in all a very disappointing stay for what was to be a special night out. A charge of £119 B/B was excessive for the poor experience £11
very nice break.
Rooms in the courtyard are newly refurbished and tasteful with good facilities and very quiet and comfortable.
Having to cross a busy road to get to the main hotel and facilities such as dining and bar
The hotel was clean, the rooms were in good condition and the breakfast was excellent. It was very convenient for both work and going out for few drinks in the evening
It was a little frustrating that the wifi did not work in my room, while it was ok in the room next door. Also, while the parking was fine in January, I suspect it may be a little harder to find a space in the middle of the summer
thé hôtel was in a great location.very clean and tidy. the outstanding member of staff was Dave. he was so very Kind to my wife and i. he Flips not Do enough for us.
we got a very frosty welcome from the receptionist and that is what really counts as she is the First One you See. after that it only got better.
Great tastefullly furnished and decorated rooms, warm and inviting. Hearty breakfast.
Handle on toilet cistern a bit loose but easily overlooked unless someone had mentioned it. Would be good in literature to have idea of where car park is for hotel visitors as its not that easy to spot.
A very traditional hotel
Staff excellent and breakfast good. Rooms in courtyard nice and warm.
Main hotel looks tired and needs a decorative overhaul! The bedroom 10 was small and didn't warrant the price paid! Bar area needs more comfy seats. Overpriced for rooms.
Central to all amenities. Local dog friendly pubs. Excellent breakfasts. Huge comfortable bed.
We were charged £40 more than stated on our booking form through booking.com.
size of room
location of room not actually at hotel did not realise would be away from hotel over a main road room very cold no warm extra bedding outside door left wide open making it extra cold fely was not part of the hotel and price did not match facilities
Location was great on site parking was good room was excellent and breakfast was really nice and staff were brilliant
location, historic ambiance in main building, restaurant
room in annexe a little small and road crossing quite difficult/dangerous. noise from street
The location in the heart of Bakewell, free parking, the bed and the grand hotel staircase. The staff via email were very good at communication back and giving information.
We were informed that there was a wedding on, which was not a problem to us; however the staff still did not give us a friendly welcome and we felt like imposters (not by the wedding party who were lovely) rather than guests celebrating their anniversary!
Very clean room with all facilities we might need. Lovely towels. Openable Window. Lots of parking (free). Very efficient and friendly staff. Central location in a beautiful town.
Radio being played loudly in bar in the evening - would have preferred gentle background music.
Convenient Location Service From All Staff and Mgt Was Excellent. Breakfast Was First Class
Bed Mattress was in need of replacement. Room was a little small for the money.
Bed location staff food
Room was luxurious.
Bathroom furniture was too big for room.
All staff very friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Very comfortable stay in beautiful surroundings. Hotel in prime location. Nothing is too far away. Lovely decor throughout the hotel and all rooms. Thank you so much.
No negatives. Oh......we didn't want to leave. Could've easily stayed longer :-)
the food was lovely
didnt have enough time to wait for the bath to fill up the plumbing needs more pressure
We booked this hotel for a one night stay and we're not disappointed. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful from arrival until departure. The room was very spacious, clean and tidy and the bed was so comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and substantial. I would definately recommend this hotel if staying in Bakewell.
the location the beautiful building friendly welcome comfortable bed We saw the hotel in the town when we arived and immediatly looked online for availability and prices for that night. We found a much better rate on booking.com than we did on the hotel's website. We booked our room on the phone outside and a second later walked checked in.
While I appreciate that booking.com is able to regularly update their site with prices, I felt that we should have had the same deal when we walked into the hotel - but that is down to computer programmes.
