We liked the inn with the courtyard and rambling layout. We'd come again if we needed to be in the Newmarket area. It would be nice to have a shower that was more than a dribble! |

It is very well located for visiting family and it is well worth the money at this time of year when the price is right. Excellent The only thing which was disappointing was the noise from the tank when someone was using their shower next door. It woke us both up and it took a while to settle. |

Well-located in Newmarket. Reasonable price and sufficient facilities. Mediocre food. Slightly faded rooms. |

The Hotel is well located for Newmarket town centre. The race course is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel The bar area did not have comfortable chairs to relax with a drink after your day out, it was set up with table and chairs only. (no easy chairs) |

Friendly, helpful staff; rooms cleaned to a high standard; excellent location for Cambridge and the Suffolk/Norfolk countryside. Ample free parking. The quality of the cooked breakfasts could be improved upon slightly. |

The hotel was nice but the rates were too expensive for that hotel.I could not see it passing any health & safety Reg. My room was 351 and it was a chore to find it every night. When I came down in the morning if I forgot something I would'nt go back up for it. The stairs was too narrow and too steep. You would have to be young and fit to stay.If there was a fire it would be hard to get out even with the exit beside it Service was bad.Too long to serve breakfast.Bar staff were slow. Slection of drink poor.Closed the bar when we arrived in after work on Sunday at 6ish |

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was a lovely building with a wonderful array of staircases and routes to rooms. The room and some areas of the hotel seemed to be rather warm. |

The hotel has maintained it's standards over many years, and represents excellent value for money. Staff were particularly helpful, and interested in their guests. Breakfast was of a higher than average standard for a hotel at this level. However, to serve inferior brand jams and marmalades was a poor economy, when a known name and quality would maintain the otherwise high standards. |

the staff were very nice people the bed was clean as was the room but this hotel is in need of some serious renovation carpets have holes in them and paintwork requires totally renewing. You can tell it was over 40 yrs ago since the cast of dads army stayed there i think the decor etc is still the same .I would not reccomend this hotel in its present state. |
