The room was compact but comfortable and quiet. The location is central and close to a few nice restaurants and bars.
The breakfast buffet was quite basic and limited, although the croissants were lovely.
The attentive, helpful staff, the size of the room, the décor, parking on site, the quality of the breakfast, located to very good restaurants. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you!
A minor point: Not centrally located but at the same time we very much enjoyed the 1/2 hour walk into the centre of the city.
Friendly and helpful staff Location, easy stroll to bus stop and commute to Edinburgh centre Room; spacious and cosy Off street parking
No cooked breakfast offered
Good location - near to the meadows and the wedding venue we were going to. Comfortable bed. (Although difficult to sleep as was cold). Room and bathroom nicely decorated. Good breakfast selection.
It was very cold in our room, and despite searching high and low we couldn't locate the radiator panel mentioned in the guest brochure. We also couldn't ask a member of staff where it was, as it was after 11pm. After 11pm they don't have any reception staff, so if you arrive after this time then they sellotape your door key to the front door which doesn't strike me as that secure. The shower went from extremely hot to very cold in random bursts. They failed to inform me I'd left behind a jersey in the room, I contacted them a day later and they told me they'd put it in the "lost property" box. Even though it was clear it belonged to me and if they had contacted me I could have picked it up before I left Edinburgh. Then they tried to charge me to have it sent to London, until I complained and said I thought it was unacceptable. The matter was resolved but I think their initial attitude wasn't good. Room is VERY small - the sq m is on the website when booking, what wasn't clear was that this also included the bathroom floor space. The shower and toilet were about a metre away from the bed in a glorified cupboard. It is overpriced for the space and service you get. £185 for 2 days is too much for that room. Slow to respond to emails - staff didn't respond to my emails for several days and a few chasers later.
sleeping soundly with out interruption from outside noise; view of gardens fro the room
room was somewhat cramped
Our room was warm and comfortable. All of the staff were great...at reception and in the resturaunt (breakfast and dinner).
Size of room and excellent staff. We really liked this hotel and you don't mind paying if the service and location is as good as this. We had a few personal requests and all were dealt with personably and professionally.
We worked out that hotel was on a one way street, but it needed a bit of research to find the best way there. Not cheap but then again if you're going to Edinburgh you know you have to pay for anything that's half decent.
Excellent hotel with friendly staff , free parking at hotel , large comfy room , plentiful continental breakfast and added bonus of restaurant onsite with its own excellent reviews , hotel on quiet road off main route to centre of Edinburgh but with plenty bars and restaurants within walking distance , will be 1st choice when planning next visit to capital
Only a 1 night stay , the check- out time for us being on a leisure break was a bit early
Sink back was cracked. Bathroom heated towel rail had been removed for some reason leaving sharp brackets protruding from wall. Bathroom wall & behond door was dusty.
Very good room, big, recently redecorated, staff was very kind and some of them speak Spanish. Breakfast was very good but they didn't offer hot food. It is close to town centre by bus (walking distance is more or less 20 minutes), there are plenty of buses that go to Royal Mile and a single ticket is just 1.5 £. Very good hotel, I would stay again there.
The sofa bed wasn't very comfortable, I would say medium quality
It was a change from modern hotels. Old style house, with high ceilings. With everything you would expect in a four star hotel. Tea & Biscuits, Bottles of Water, Hairdryer, Fluffy Towels. Clean & Lovely helpful staff.
Bathrooms where small. Shower water was intermittent, hot then cold! Beds a bit old, 'springs' & noisy! No hot breakfast, only Continental!
Spacious room. The hotel is in a very quiet area.
Receptist is often absent with poor attitude. The water provided in the room are opened, seems like the hotel refilled the water bottles that have been used before.
Spacious room for a group of three. Clean with comfortable beds. Enjoyable dinner at hotel restaurant, wonderful daily specials. Good continental breakfast buffet. Attentive staff.
Comfortable, restaurant excellent, breakfasts great...
Would never say this is a 4 star hotel
Modern comfortable room, very comfortable bed. Lovely and quiet overlooking the garden at the back. The lighting in the room was quite dark which made doing any work in the evening quite difficult.
There wasn't a great selection for the continental breakfast but they did have cereal, toast and some pastries.
Everything was perfect, all your staff has been very friendly, but Kinga is out standing.
Breakfast was brill Room was just what we needed , would stay again
good selection for continental breakfast
The batteries dead on remote for TV. They did not replace towels left on shower floor for replacement as directed by signage in the bathroom they hung them up again and were still damp that evening.
This hotel lacks attention to detail. Our room was noisy in the morning (perhaps only a problem for rooms by the stairs).
Loved the location which is near the a Commonwealth Pool. Comfortable beds but room a little cramped with pull out bed for our son. Breakfast was good too. On site parking and near bus route.
Pull out bed a little uncomfortable but might be okay for smaller children.
Staff in the restaurant was nice!
They will charge a fee of 2% if you pay with Visa or MasterCard and 3% if you pay with Amex! Cleaning was ok but they left a pair of gloves and a bag of garbage in a corner of the room for 2 days! My room was in the lower floor facing a wall, just by the toilets of the restaurant!
Decent location close to bus stop. Large comfortable bed. Good continental breakfast.
No hot water at eight o'clock on Friday night so had to have a cold shower. Breakfast coffee had been stewing so was very, very strong. I chose tea the second morning.
lovely large light family room with space and character - Georgian windows and wrought iron juliet balconies, very comfortable beds, lots of towels, and plenty of tea, coffee making etc in the room. Parking on site and 15 minute walk across the park into the city .....would heartily recommend.
Couldnt fault this hotel everything about it was excellent, will deffinatly use again. Receptionist very friendly and very helpful. All staff very friendly and always smiling. Food and service top class. Id mark it 10 out of 10
Couldnt fault it. :-)
