Food & wine was great & the hospitality of both staff & hosts was excellent. Bed lovely & comfy & room was clean.
The front of the hotel looked tired. The suite we booked didn't live up to expectations. The only picture on the website was of the bedroom, which to fair was the same but based on the pictures of the other rooms our suite overall was disappointing & lacked the wow factor expected. The TV could be slightly bigger & please scrap the random pieces of plastic furniture , as they just look out of place in a quality hotel.
the location itself , the tean room and the big garden around the house
small lobby, very little room to sit down with more taan 10 people.
The gardens and the architecture of this Luytens house
it would be helpful if they clarified if they serve dinner...or not.
Comfortable accommodation Fresh milk in fridge for tea and coffee Warm welcome
Starting to need a little maintenance (shower handles off, toilet handle not working) Breakfast is standard, nothing exciting, but at these prices the service and table preparation has to be excellent, but wasn't.
Excellent hosts, beautiful gardens, walking distance to everything, close many good places to eat.
Comfy beds, fantastic breakfast, besutiful house and gardens.
Creaky floorboards in the room above!!
What a superb and special place! Great Atmosphere and staff very friendly and accomodating! Cant wait to go back!
House and gardens
Grubby and tired decor
Stunning house Plenty of places to eat and drink in the area Excellent breakfast
Reception area is not always staffed, leading to long waits for keys to bedroom
The hospitality and the laid back weekend. The owners are nice people and friendly staff
Beautiful house with lots of interesting history especially for keen gardeners. Very friendly welcome. Lovely location
Beautiful location, fab staff, excellent hospitality!
We loved everything about our stay at the Salutation. The house itself is absolutely stunning, with many beautiful features and the room was extremely comfortable. The Secret Gardens are lovely and we were lucky enough to have a beautiful view from our room (Edwin). The hosts Steph and Dom could not have made us feel more welcome, especially enjoyed our drinks with them before and after dinner! Breakfast was plentiful and delicious and again, lovely setting in the dining room. We'll be visiting again and would highly recommend to anyone thinking of visiting.
We had to move the mirror from the wall in the bathroom so that I could use the hairdryer in the actual bedroom. We couldn't find a plug and mirror together for this purpose.
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful house and gardens. Very welcoming.
Warm and friendly welcome to Salutations Good size, light and airy room with excellent views of garden and surrounding locality Large walk in shower unit Comfortable beds Charming and friendly hosts. Obliging friendly staff
Radiators too hot Having to go home
welcomed by lovely Dom at the door, I felt very warm with his hospitality. The staff are all very friendly as well. It is situated in a lovely medieval town.
The only thing I'd say is the automatic spray in the hotel which can be little strong.
The amosphere is awesome I guarentee you will have never stayed anywhere like it! The hotel itself is amazing, finished to the highest level and the facilites there are second to none! the gardens are also a lovely treat! Worth every penny and then some! If I was able to get away more this is where I would re-visit over and over again!
The whole experience was positive... Dom and Steph, the hosts, had ensured great attention to detail and their company was engaging. They were able to create a welcoming atmosphere which broke lots of the social barriers that are normally associated with a bed and breakfast. The quality of everything was fautless, from the beautiful white linen to the exquisite breakfast. A wonderful, feel good experience that I would love to repeat.
Great hosts, stunning location. Good access to local facilities including many pubs and restuarants within walking distance.
Price is a little steep so regular visits are prohibitive, but that being said, you do get a great standard of accomodation. I guess you get what you pay for.
Service levels very good. A grand residence which has been expertly furnished with many personal touches that are interesting and show taste. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice (including a Bloody Mary if you want it) and quantity. A relaxing place where you are not only invited but positively encouraged to help yourself to a free drink. The salutation is much more of an experience than a standard B & B. The world is a big place so we don't usually return a second time, but in this instance we will.
Its not cheap, but it is worth it! If you like a good quality TV in your room as part of your stay then you may be a tad disappointed, but as we don't, then this really is representative of how hard it was to come up with something we did not like!
