Very good,

“ Rowena a excellent host, nothing was to much touble, made us feel so welcome, we've already booked to go back and try a special event night. Food in the restaurant was amazing, So tasty, only problem we didn't have time to try the deserts as we had to go out for the evening. The whole place was full of character. ”

it was handy for Oulton Park We where overcharged £65 the hotel did not honour what we booked however Booking.com sorted the problem as the manager was very rude and didnt care. The chef was fast asleep int he bar sunday evening the waitress was more interested in her mobile phone than serving dinner. Bedrooms had peeling wallpaper and the bathromm ceiling had mould on it. O the whole the hotel was very much in need of some cleaning and general T.L.C. The staff apart from the lady serving breakfast ( which was very poor and tasteless) were very unprofesional and not a good advert for the hotel.

I liked the quirkiness and attention to detail.Very comfortable and "homely". A real bonus that WiFi was free. Lovely gardens. The bar/restaurant arrangement in the evening was a bit hit and miss , but the property is small so probably not to be surprised at

Near to Oulton Park, Breakfasts were budget food.Wallpaper pealing on bedroom walls, mould on bathroom ceilings. They decided to alter our booking resulting in an overcharge of 65 pounds, when we queried this we were met with the reply, so you were better off very rude, Thankfully Booking.com sorted this out. Waitress on Sunday dinner time was half asleep and the manager was asleep in the bar, very professional!

Food was good. Staff friendly and chatted. For people wanting a themed hotel it would have been perfect. In fairness it would have been a different experience with other people staying/eating in the restaurant. Being slightly psychic myself I felt rather 'spooked' by the whole experience. A hotel caught in time wasnt for me (1902) and didnt work as it was far too personal. Having perhaps 1 other person stay at the hotel didnt help - the staff (1 person) went to bed to leave me feel like I was in a haunted hotel surrounded by personal effects of ghosts. The room was stuffy/hot and the TV awkward to watch as it ran the length of my bed.

Very attentive staff. Had booked a table in restaurant and a couple of days before, we were advised they were planning to have entertainment. The excellent singer made it a very special evening. The food was very good! Let them know when you're arriving as it is a family run hotel so don't expect a reception desk open 24 hours

As the page suggests the Sandhurst is a family run Hotel, this means a welcoming warm atmosphere with a personal touch to return after a day working away from home. If you are looking for a generic anonymous chain hotel then book at a Hilton, some other reviews on here are trying to compare the Sandhurst to larger chain hotels and I do not think that is fair, the Sandhurst to me offers a comfortable friendly home away from home environmental where I can feel relaxed; to me that is worth it's weight in gold. If you want a hotel you can retreat to in the evening and relax with decent food, real ale and pleasant company whilst away from your home comforts then look no further. Whenever I visit the area in the future this will be my first choice of hotel. The rooms are clean, the showers have decent water pressure and the bed is comfortable. Keep up the good work Rowena and crew! :) To be honest I cannot grumble, I frequently stay in big city hotels and whilst you cannot call reception and make ridiculous demands at the Sandhurst, the friendly atmosphere and willingness of the staff to do their level best to see to your needs more than make up for it.

Beautifully renovated edwardinan house. Very good food. Excellent staff all very friendly and helpful. We made a late booking and only one room was available which was at the top of the house and although very spacious and well furnished we had to stoop a little in places.

It was very comfortable and clean with all facilities available. We only stayed two nights bed and breakfast and enjoyed the breakfast too. Our stay was to visit family living close by but are sure that other meals in the hotel would be just as good. I am sure we will book to stay again as our son and daughter-in-law have three children and do not have a spare bedroom now. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. There was nothing to dislike.

Our weeks stay at The Sandhurst Hotel was delightful, from the moment we arrived the staff were helpful and friendly. Our room was large and comfortable with a well appointed bathroom and so very clean. Breakfast was delicious and accommodating to all tastes. The Chef, Neil, goes out of his way to please and dinner is always scrumptious. The Proprietor Rowena is wonderful and runs a great establishment with flair and ease. One can tell all her staff are very happy which trickles down to the guests. You will find this hotel A Delightful Surprise, and we will most definitely stay there again when visiting the area. The landlady and all her staff where very friendly and nothing was too much trouble to any of them. The room was very clean and the food was very good and cooked to order without any delays. Keep up the great work of making all whom come through your doors welcome. Enjoyed our short stay Cannot write here as nothing to dislike about the place

As an elderly couple we thoroughly appreciated the effort put into the atmosphere of the old fashioned elegance of the establishment. The staff were all most helpful, and as for Her Ladyship, "beyond reproach".

Cleanliness Deco The Owner or " Her Ladyship " as she likes to be known. She was ignorant, and thought that her opinions and facts were correct everybody else was in the wrong. My husband and I arrived 22 mins before last check in . We were totally insulted in front of other guests, her ladyship insisted that the last check in was 22.00 hrs when it stated clearly on our booking form that it was 22.30hrs. The door was locked when we arrived, Upon opening the door to us she immediately started complaining in a loud obnotious way that we were late, at first we thought that we were not going to be allowed in the hotel, she just went on and on insisting that she was right . Although the hotel is in lovely decor, and spotlessly clean, the attitude of Her Ladyship is not worth the visit. .
