No negative comments
The location is second to none in the area. The food is restaurant quality with handsome portions. The beers are well tended. The room is basic, comfortable and clean. The staff are all so friendly and efficient.
The pillows were not very supportive, my fault for not realising before we actually went to bed and therefore too late to get them changed or added to.
Excellent menu. The best breakfast ever. Staff and room superb.
The rain. No view from our twin room.
Good location, though very busy at the weekend as the weather was nice. They automatically reserve a table for guests which is needed as even off season the restaurant is busy. Excellent food, braised ox cheeks, yummy. We had a room at the rear, which was quiet and larger than the ones at the front. Room was oak with nicely tiled dark bathroom.
Needed a few more minutes spent cleaning the bathroom, toothpaste on the tiles etc
The view overlooking the river from our bedroom was very scenic. The staff and owners obviously enjoyed looking after us - nothing was to much trouble. Excellent packed lunch provided for the day out fishing and good real ale in the bar. Definately stay here again.
Parking close to hotel could be difficult during busy periods.
The friendliness of the staff, the food and accommodation and the perfect location.
We could not think of anything we did not like about the 16th Century Saracens Head Inn
Everything what a wonderful place to chill out and unwind from the everyday stresses of life ! wish I could disappear forever there!
BEING UPGRADED GOOD BEER
HAD NOT BEEN BOOKED IN PROPERLY
A lovely hotel set a beautiful location
Location and food were fantastic. Ask for room 11 (seperate accommodation) block for very large room
Stayed overnight after a very good meal with friends. Room was tastefully modernised with lovely bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, one of the best we've had!
Came here for an anniversary break - couldn't have chosen better. The location by the river Wye and the Yat rock is one of the most beautiful places on earth, the ancient inn so full of character, the food superb. And the staff - all of them - were absolutely marvellous; they did everything possible to make this a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable break, even giving us a complimetary bottle of winne on our departure
This is in a lovely sitting on the banks of the river on the edge of the Forest of Dean with lots of potential for walking, canoeing, cycling etc or just a long relaxing break in the gorge like countryside. Although the original building exterior is ancient the interior is completely modernized and comfortable, well up the description on the website. Food is excellent, beer is better etc but what made it for us was the friendly, helpful attitude of the owner and staff – made us feel welcome and wanting to return.
Having to leave!
Location; staff; room.
The evening meal was a little less 'haute cuisine' than we had enjoyed at the hotel in previous years. Not sure how the plating up of the chicken dish would have fared on Celebrity Masterchef. But this is a minor detail. We would certainly recommend and return!
amazing location, great lunch, great breakfast, helpful staff.
I stayed in a room next to the main building. It was right in front of the car park and small road to further hotels. Although I think the windows are double glazed the door was not and rattled every time someone slammed a door just outside in the car park!! Could also clearly hear every car and motor bike driving past. A pity as everything else was excellent.
Breakfast was lovely.
the food eat in for evening meal the breakfast was one of the best I have ever had
nothing, everything was exelent
Very helpful as I had just broken my wrist. could not have been more helpful when I tripped and cut myself. Excellent breakfast choice too.
brilliant place to stay with beautiful scenery - damn fine food - very friendly staff - would thoroughly recommend this hotel
the fact they were so busy they could only fit us in the one night - on arriving tried to book the week - most disappointing that
Automatic table reservation for evening dining for guests. Free parking in pay and display car park. Strong wifi throughout.
No a/c in room. Shower pressure weak. Wouldn't stop us returning though.
Being up-graded on our arrival was a real bonus! The room and views were tremendous. The food was of a high standard and thoroughly enjoyed.
