We had a couple of days celebrating our Silver Wedding and thoroughly enjoyed our stay before travelling further to stay with relatives. My husband has played golf in the area and had always wanted to stay at Saunton Sands - we were not disappointed.

Lovely location, staff and old world charm. The bathroom and bedroom views were stunning The balcony, pool, facilities were great I have been to Saunton so many times and always dreamed of staying in the hotel. It was a big birthday for me so we stayed there for a real treat. There was party/function on the Saturday night with a disco. Not a problem and the volume of the music was not too high either. However our room was right over the disco which meant it was too loud to sleep. We needed to watch tv until the disco was over at 12pm but my complaint was that all the attendees at the disco attended the disco/function so why weren't they allocated a room closest to the function and non attending guests given rooms further away? I shared this with the deputy duty manager and would have expected some form of rebate from the £200 per night room but none was offered or given. Room allocation and /or some recompense would make the Saunton Sands more of a high class hotel.

I liked the comfort of my room, which did not face the sea but was still bright and cheerful, the fantastic view across the beach from the Restaurant and Lounges, the attentive but not obtrusive service in the dining room, the indoor swimming pool which was spotless and very well organised with plenty of towels provided and even bags for your wet costume. There was plenty of parking space and a bus stop on the doorstep as well. In fact well thought-out and well organised all round. I do hope I can stay there again

The hotel is in an excellent position with great views of the beach , dunes and sea . The large double bed in our room was very comfortable . The breakfast was very good . Scrambled eggs excellent ( difficult to do on a large scale . ) We booked at the last minute and the only available rooms were inland views . Unfortunately, the view was of the flat roof over parts of the hotel's facilities with another tall building ( part of the hotel ) directly opposite . This would have been acceptable ( though disappointing ) were it not for approximately eight air conditioning and extractor fans , just outside the window , which were on all the time . We did not get a very good night's sleep . The bathroom was very small with dated fittings . The shower was over the bath .

Superb clifftop position with a beautiful view, wonderful coastal walks and a lovely wide sandy beach. Not much wrong with the stay really although the breakfast staff were a little inflexible about your allocated table and we found the beds to be a little too firm.

An excellent hotel with every aspect to a high specification. The staff friendly and attentive without being over the top. Room very comfortable with lovely sea view. My reason for the visit was to pay golf at Saunton golf club which was also excellent. I will be returning to this hotel and golf club more than once. Thank you. Nothing could be complained about which is a very rare thing these days!

The view from delux room softened the £192 a night stay. Pleasant staff but jacuzzi would of been nice in pool area. Everything very clean and high standard. Maybe punching above my weight price wise suited for more affluent older couples/family's Price was a lot but can't put a price on the view I guess. No jacuzzi in pool area Surprisingly noisey as only a locked door seperated out room to the next, tv loud, loud conversations, thankfully not late at night.

1) Excellent staff - all very friendly and eager to help. 2) Fabulous pool and sauna but changing rooms basic. 1) Did not expect to have to pay for wifi access - given the prices charged for staying. (Don't most hotels offer free these days?) 2) Given the quality of the hotel and the prices charged it seems the bathrooms were designed for extremely slim / athletic guests. I'm sorry we did not fit your standard guest size - you may not be surprised to hear that most of the other golfers who stayed also commented the same. 3) No jacuzzi.

My self and my family have lived within ten miles of the hotel for many years, and it does have a very good reputation. So being christmas we thought we would spoil ourselves. It lived up to everything we had heard about it. In fact we are going to do it again. A final thought on the christmas decorations wonderful,

“Excellent staff, location and good facilities. The reception lady was brilliant and she really cared that we had a good night out. The view was first rate, the sea was mesmerising and we stayed up late just listening to the wind and surf. The bathroom (room 11) was shear indulgance, big enough for three even!! We would definately go back.” Ross, Taunton |
