The Eskdale is a purpose built YHA hostel set in its own extensive grounds. Ideally located to explore the Lake District, this affordable accommodation is nestled in a picturesque setting.
Score from 29 reviews Fabulous
This Lakeland slate house is 0.5 miles above Buttermere village, and ideal for the famous Haystacks walk. YHA Buttermere has a bar/restaurant with views of the Red Pike and High Stile mountains.
Score from 82 reviews Very good
It is difficult to find fault. The accommodation was a small double (not a single) with wifi. The food is better-than-average pub food in the evenings with a good buffet breakfast. For £42 b and b this was an absolute bargain. Stay here if you are planning to walk in Wasdale; I would come again.
TV in room didnt work
The size of the room, friendly staff age great location
The room was cold
The staff were really friendly and helpful. The location was beautiful. The bar was cosy and the food good and big portions! The room was warm and comfortable.
The shower cubicle was a bit grubby and there was no bath.
Peace and quiet
No Vodaphone signal - not the hotel's fault of course!
The location was superb. The staff were friendly and relaxed and let you get on with it. Brillant breakfast.
Lovely decor. Beautiful situation. Nice staff.
Very cold room. Heating not timed to come on enough. Badly cooked breakfast. One tiny mirror in bathroom, none in bedroom.
Excellent food and beer
Nice cosy pub in quiet village. Food was good. Good selection of beers and wines. Great location for the Lakes and eg Scafell Pike.
Bed was not the best, and service in the restaurant was eratic (but to be fair, it was very busy) Early check out breakfast (ie before 8.00 when cooked breakfasts are served) was slightly disappointing.
Very friendly staff and excellent food in a beautiful village location
Very small bathroom for a triple room Breakfast cook didn't know how to boil an egg!
Lovely room. Good comfortable bed. New decor. Live music on Saturday night. Good breakfast. Good beer.
Room was above the bar and front door of the pub so it was quite noisy although to be fair the pub opening times did say the bar was open till late so I had been warned. Floodlights which illuminated the front of the pub were shining into the bedroom and were not turned off till around 1 am.
Building, location, staff
made to feel very welcome by the staff. food excellent
shower room was in need of attention ,redecorating and tiles cleaned up
Very friendly staff, spotlessly clean, good range of beers, breakfast excellent
Interior rather dark could do with brightning up a touch.
The Inn is very well located to visit Wasdale and the Screes which are magnificent. The Inn is VFM and our room number 7 had a really comfy bed.
A short drive from Scafell Pike which is what we needed.
