Llwynygog is a small, family-run, 3-star guest house in a lovely part of central Aberystwyth, just 2 minutes’ walk from the beach and the many amenities of the town centre.

The noise at night inside and outside the hotel. In a nutshell, you get what you pay for.
It needs a lift. I have breathing problems and had to climb six flights of stairs. A member of staff did take my bags up for me.
The sea views were stunning! The room was clean and well laid out.
Sparse room. Office desk with white cloth was coffee table. Grease marks on wall behind bed, as no headboard. No mirror or bedside lamp in room. Nowhere to hang towels in bathroom. Windows filthy. On arrival had to go to kitchen to find staff. We were then taken to next door premises but not told anything about where breakfast was served. TV didn't work. We skipped breakfast and went to local Wetherspoons instead. This is a B&B to avoid,
Location on promenade with sea view.
The blind in the reoom was broken and could not ope or shut from the half open position so I coudl not ope it to see the lovely sea view properly or shut it at night to keep out the brilliant lamps in the street to make the room dard.
Clean and basic, right on the seafront; friendly staff
Thin doors and walls meant that doors slamming and voices in the corridor were readily heard from inside the room, interrupting sleep. Pillows were also very thin.
Being charged twice on my credit card for my stay & despite several telephone calls the matter is still not resolved as the manager has "gone away". Reminiscent of Matt Allwright's Rogue Traders. Booking a sea view room & when I arrived there was no record of my booking. I was then allocated a room at the rear of the guest house.
Good location on the Promenade. Staff friendly and helpful.
A little on the expensive side for what you get, but otherwise enjoyed my stay.
It was very peaceful. It was clean.
the room was too small The door was very stiff to open as the top of the door needed plaining. Not enough tea & coffee etc no bath
Cheap, clean, wonderful sea view.
Bit tired but good value.

Tiny but pleasant and clean single room Comfortable bed Sea view Staff tried their best to please
I'm sorry, but this hotel was a real catalogue of disasters!! >Basically a hostel, not a hotel, but charging hotel prices. >Very pleasant but very young and inexperienced staff were left to cope with everything by themselves with no management support, then blamed when things went wrong. >Short staffed, help not always available, one staff member (not a manager) gave out his personal mobile number in case of problems. >I booked in by credit card, booking was confirmed, but arrived to find notice "sorry no card payments today" -- same notice still up 3 days later. >Continental breakfast only, no other meals available. >My room door was warped and sticking, to the point of blocking escape -- had to throw whole weight against door to open or close it. >Behind the room door there was a tiny unlit vestibule and a second door -- it was pitch dark and I had to keep the inner door propped open with a chair in order to see my way in and out! >Door lock was faulty on room next door so guests could not get in -- nobody available to help. >Young couple arrived late evening having booked in, booking lost, had to find somewhere else. >Fire alarm system faulty, triggered when there was no fire, what if there really was one? >No access to lounge as shown on website. >Bare walls, no decoration. >Appalling management attitude -- no intention of fixing any of the more serious problems listed above because building is on short term lease! >Conclusion: Please don't book people in to this or the other Shelley hotels unless management improves attitude and service!!
The staff - the only one there - was very nice and helpful. It was also very close to the front and therefore easy to find.
There are many things which made this stay poor; when I saw that the 'reception' was literally a hallway where the keys were hung with a print out of the word 'reception' blue-tacked to the wall I became immediately suspicious but as we had no-where else to go we had to make do. The room was tiny and had damp on the wall next to our heads (which may be a health risk) which made the (ugly) wallpaper wrinkle. There was no shower in the 'en-suite bathroom' and the 'community showers' had so much mould around the shower tray that we couldn't face using it. The 'flat screen tv' that was a part of the package wasn't even able to receive any channels. In the morning when I tried to make a complaint the manager wasn't actually around as, it turns out, the only member of staff around was a student at the local university and where we stayed was actually poorly-kept student accommodation. Although I felt sorry for the kid, who was evidently embarrassed about being left to control the awful situation, I had to ask for a refund; he was happy to let me have it for £20 as the idea of spending the aforementioned hotel price of £59 on that room was ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend this 'hotel' to anyone; it should be advertised only as a hostel and charged for at hostel prices.
location at the seaside incl. sea view
room was dirty, window was not to close, strip curtains were defect and not to close, entrance key was left, and and and - sorry this was on eof the worst hotels I've ever had
Basicc but ideal for our needs
TV didn't work Shower didn't work properly Bed too soft
The location was right where we wanted to be. We stayed at the Glengower Hotel/Pub previously, and they were all booked up for our dates. This accommodation was a few houses away.
The young man who helped us check in did not offer any information about breakfast; we later read on the back of the door that we needed to book and pay the night before, and it was after 8 pm at that point. We had difficultly finding the accommodation, as it has up to 3 names 'Cardigan Bay Guest House’/’Celtic Bay Guest House’/’Shelley Guest House' and the same gentleman told us it was past the Glengower coming from PD's Diner, and this was inaccurate. The accommodation is bare bones, not much more than a hostel (particularly if you don't have a 'seafront room'), but you still pay Aberystwyth seaside prices. But other than these minor things, we had no problems. It's not a great value for money, but they were able to accommodate all 5 of us and breakfast (3.50) had plenty of fresh fruit and toast.
Simple with friendly staff
Close location to beach and town and the helpful staff
Shower was cold and the door the room didn't lock
Location on the seaside
Check had to be before 8pm
Fantastic location on the seafront and offered budget accommodation. Was a very handy base - near the shops, beach and lots of roadside places to park nearby.
It was confusing where the reception was! Quite old fashioned but comfortable.
The location was great. The beautiful seascape and the picturesque little town.
As I use a walking stick and the hotel was not booked out, I found it very difficult being given a room on the top floor. There were hardly any guests at breakfast time which indicated to me that there weren't many guests at all. The bathrooms had no hooks or handrails to put anything on.
