Comfy beds, friendly service, yummy breakfast, nice and close to beach

The breakfast was brilliant...so much choice. The staff were friendly and proffesional. The parking vouchers were a great idea. Great to be so close to the seafront. There was very little noise from outside in the street. The rooms were comfortable and heated.

The number of stairs to some of the rooms... not ideal for older people. We were unaware of the existence of a bar. The booking was mixed up and the hotel was closed when we arrived due to booking.com getting the dates wrong.

Very warm welcome. Breakfast excellant. Would stay again. Plenty of room in the family suite. bath in ensuite.

The noise in the room from the pipes and water flow. The room was very small, in our opinion it did warrant 4stars after staying in many hotels I would give this a 2 /3 star accommodation

Clean & comfortable, great breakfast & ideal location, close to theatres & seafront.

I was staying in Eastbourne for the wonderful Beachy Head marathon. The hotel is ideally placed within 2 minutes from the shore, a few minutes from local theatres and around 8 minutes brisk walk to town centre and restaurants. There was plenty of street parking but you may need to park in an adjoining road, parking permits are issued by the hotel at no extra cost. Very friendly staff and nice touches in presentation throughout the hotel.

the friendly staff., the really great high quality breakfast. the location. the fact that couples and me - a grandma with my two young grandchildren - are all welcome and well catered for, the building has wonderful high ceilings and the rooms are fitted out with period furniture to match the building. lovely and clean.

Advertised as having free WiFi but unable to get a connection.

Our room was on the top floor and no lift! Really thick winter quilts in the summer made it diffecult to sleep.

The Sherwoods is at an excellent location,near to the sea,near to the countryside,near to theatres and restaurants and near to town centre and railway station. The staff were friendly and helpful but not intrusive.

Very accommodating hosts - even cooked another egg for my missus as it wasn't quite to her liking! Clean, simple accommodation which did the job very nicely at a good price. Would recommend to anyone.

The hotel is small and friendly so the absence of a lift is understandable. However, being in one of the higher rooms tested my stamina at times....

The position.

In our opinion The Sherwood is very dated and not good value for money.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The whole place was spotlessly clean. The room was well-equipped and an iron and ironing board were provided on request. Overall our stay was just about perfect and the breakfast was the best!

Superb attention to detail. The guest folder in the room included instructions on how to operate the remote for the TV. For a technophobe such as myself, a godsend. Also a tea towel provided to dry the ample sized mug .

Staff were excellent. Attentive and helpful. A very well run hotel that I would use again. Thanks!

Friendly greeting. I was offered assistance with suitcase (which was gratefully accepted) . My room and facilites were spotless. Good lounge facilities.Breakfast service included ample range of cereals and juice together with hot food (which included a bacon sarni!).

Its a long climb up to the top floor, so request a lower floor if stairs are a problem.

This is our 2nd stay there, and both times have been comfortable and clean. The rooms are nicely laid out and large, and have en suite shower cubicles. Its an old building but nicely refurbished and suitable for an overnight stay so that we can visit our friends nearby. Breakfast is EXCELLENT and plentiful. the Staff are mostly family and very pleasant and friendly.

Our only gripe is that there are a lot of stairs and no lift!
