*Shower pressure was terrible. *No sheets on the bed (only duvet cover) *The bed mattress was 'sinking' in the middle, making it uncomfortable to sleep on and woke up with shoulders aching
No parking available in car park
Excellent location, beautiful building.
Really naff decor. Breakfast omelette very overcooked.
The building was interesting and well decorated and furnished. The receptionist was very helpful and pleasant and even carried a replacment TV up to our room when she could not make the one we had work. Breakfasts were good but see what I didn't like!!!
First morning of our stay I ordered the Eggs Benedict. I was very disappointed to find that it was cold. I tried to eat it but gave up and told the waitress why. It was a beautifully cooked and presented meal spoiled by slow service. There was no apology.
The Location of the Hotel
Most helpful staff Amy in particular
The lift !!
Central postition right on the High Street. Good helpful staff. Meals very good. Lovely décor Clean. Were moved to another room immediately with no fuss.
Small room Nowhere to put anything such as sponge bag, clothes etc in the bathroom. Very cramped. Loo did not flush.
The welcome from the staff..nothing to much trouble. The food from breakfast to evening meal was excellent, the bedroom was first rate.
We got there early so able to park easily, might be a problem for late arrivals. No complaints from us.
Comfortable bed, plenty of tea and coffee in room. Good breakfast. Lovely architecture and very well positioned for theatre and town.
Nothing to dislike.
Easy walk to theatre, historical feel to the place, restaurant very good as was breakfast.
A little tired, some staff needed a bit of training.
after a hard day working at the festival theatre it was great just to be able to park my car, have a relaxing bath then a walk round the beautiful town and later enjoying a very well prepared and served dinner. then a very peaceful night in a lovely quiet hotel. ticked all the boxes.
Rooms are small and felt cluttered; breakfast was average quality and breakfast staff were slow/rude
Bar and Dining Room area and general ambience
Insufficient power in the bad side lights for reading.
Excellent food, very friendly and helpful staff.
Bedside light switch broken, of which they were aware, water pressure on basin taps too high, so splashed onto the floor, legs and feet, had to go to bed with wet nightwear. Mirrors not well positioned for a lady to use, and banged my head on the bathroom shelf every time I brushed my teeth, as I'm not very tall!
The staff at the hotel were amazing so helpful and friendly made our stay thoroughly enjoyable would recommend this hotel
Beautiful hotel Lovely and varied breakfast Nice staff Fantastic location
The refurbishment has been tastefully completed. Lunch was excellent.
The Room was quite small. The Bar closed, for Residents, at 11.45pm
Comfortable bed and good location for the theatre and city.
Very poor service at breakfast - the staff seemed disinterested. Bathroom OK but expected more for the price.
Location was excellent. Bar and Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Restaurant food good. Excellent Breakfast.
Room very hot. Mattress uncomfortable. Service at Dinner indifferent. Wine went astray and waitress sharp almost rude in resolving problem. Breakfast served coffee and tea in mugs. No cups.
hotel good Friendly staff Comfortable room Lots of character
restraunt poor Slow service Starters hopeless Cold breakfast (Supposed to be hot!)
+ Helpful staff + Great location + Comfortable bed
Bar and other communal areas.
Very old noisy lift.
This is in a delightful period building, skilfully updated to offer comfortable accommodation. Staff friendly ana attentive. Breakfast excellent, two dinners in Murrays Restaurant very good indeed.
Lack of air con would deter visits in high summer
This hotel was perfectly situated for our Theatre Trip as only 5 minutes walk to the Festival Theatre. Friendly welcome from the Receptionist. Free easy parking on site. The Room was excellent, large with period features. Loved the link to Chekov and script wall paper. Mini bar, tea and coffee making facilities and nice biscuits. Really big, yeh, bath. Really large bed with good pillows. Excellent restaurant with pre-theatre dinner option, reasonably priced. Our male waiter was very professional and personable.
The female waiters were rather surly. They seemed too busy to pay attention to the residents. At breakfast it would have been nice to have the arrangements explained. All we got was 'help yourself'. We were not told that you could order a hot breakfast, we had to work this out, by watching others. Eventually, after a considerable wait, our order was taken and it was delicious. The Staff all seemed to be so young. Lots of young male bar staff, but very slow. There didn't seem to be a 'grown-up' anywhere to oversee. The bath was very slippery to be standing in for a shower. Health and safety issue.
