Friendly staff, nice room and fine breakfast. No complaints!
We were looked after beautifully . Staff were very helpful and friendly and always reacted cheerfully and quickly to all our requests.
The location is convenient for a range of leisure activities and tourist attractions in a beautiful rural setting. The popular Restaurant had a good menu selection of generous proportions at sensible prices with local produce a feature. The Staff were welcoming and helpful.
Some guidance for operation of the modern built-in shower functions would have been helpful. Hotel room access is by stairs so access could be a problem for the less able.
Excellent room, very clean. Staff very helpful when requesting early breakfast for my husband.
Couldn't get on the Internet!!! Breakfast was a bit luke warm - had to eat it fast before it went cold.
The inn does things well and without fuss. It looks well and it provides a high standard of hospitality in terms of sensible service from staff and reasonably priced food that over four yearly visits has been tasty and well presented. The rooms may not be dramatically decorated but everything works.
For some the beds may be a bit too firm but won't stop us returning.
Food was excellent and staff helpful
Bed was very hard for our liking
Lovely bathroom with large bath. Excellent dinner in the nice restaurant.
Bed too small for superior room. Only view out of a small window was a wall and skylight for restaurant!
The room was huge and spotlessly clean. The food was good, a wee bit unexciting perhaps but we had a nice meal. Staff were pleasant and helpful
No food at lunchtime in spite of sign outside saying 'food available now'! Restaurant is a bit 'tired'. and needs a facelift
the rooms and the facilities staff were very helpful nothing was a problem, the location was beautiful and the food was excellent would highly recomend it for a nice relaxing weekend or week
no need for this space !!!
Rooms are stylish and tasteful. The staff are friendly, welcoming and efficient. The atmosphere is comfortable and relaxing. Gatehouse of Fleet is a charming village, away from the madding crowd. Would like to have lingered a while. Will definitely return.
I am finding it difficult to think of anything negative to write.
Terrible quality of sleep
The overall experience was good. Dined twice and the food was very good.
It was August and the heating was off, but the bedroom was very cold. The ensuite bathroom was fully enclosed and fully tiled but no heated towel rail. The towels remained wet until staff were asked for clean ones. 'Superior' room was large but nil view.
Food wasn't very good !
Traffic noise at front of hotel early morning
The bathroom and the view of the roof from the bedroom window. Found the bed too narrow

The staff were friendly and helpful. There was no problem that we came back very late on both our nights stay, as we were at the Wickerman Festival The room was lovely and we really enjoyed the cooked breakfasts.
We liked everything about the Ship Inn. The food, the friendly staff, the excellent room and the excellent location. To be recommended without doubt. We will be back.
There was nothing about the Ship Inn not to like.
Traditional inn with a long history but effectively modernised and comfortable staff very friendly and helpful and seemed to always be enough of them Food was good traditional fare well presented and good portions
Wifi in restaurant and bar was fine but not great in the room
The staff were charming and efficient, the food extremely good, and it was a lovely place to come back to after a day's site-seeing.
