Friendly family atmosphere; we had the sea view room; cleanliness and the overall flair which goes with the Ship Inn. It was just perfect.

The Ship in was just right for 8 ladies on a weekend away, although only doubles available, but after a few drinks no one minds. Clean, comfortable rooms and just a brilliant place to stay It's not a complaint, but we were out of hot water as something had gone wrong with boiler, manager was so apologetic and devastated to hear that his guests had not ben able to wash. The problem was sorted out after breakfast. Superb service and as customer service is usually poor, we were very grateful. He was just very sorry that we hadn't told him sooner

The welcome was warm, the bed comfortable, and we enjoyed the pub atmosphere. The location was pretty close to the Shuttle, our method of crossing the Channel, we liked the fact that although we left before breakfast we were able to have a breakfast tray in the room the evening of our stay. This was our second, and I hope not our last, stay at The Ship Inn. It was all good! We had rather hoped to be able to get something to eat that evening, as the hotel description said there was a restaurant, but we filled up with Cheeselets, Twiglets and peanuts, washed down with a G&T or some real ale, so it wasn't too bad.

Our room was superbly decorated and extremely comfortable. The sea view couldn't really have been better, as the sea was directly outside the window! The restaurant was just next door to the cottage and the food was delicious; I would say it is excellent value for money all round. In the morning, the breakfast was of similar, super quality. The Ship Inn is a bed and breakfast with a real personal touch whilst also being a quality experience. The parking was not readily available and the location does not allow for easily locating parking when you are new to the area.

Modern rooms next to an old pub, with sea view close to the Channel Tunnel loading area. Very friendly reception, if a bit unprofessional. Breakfast from 7:30, too late for our boarding

A traditional, corner, two bar pub selling real ales (and all the better for that) with a stylish, modern restaurant attached to the rear. Accommodation is in a cottage next door; one of our two bedrooms had its own lounge. The food was very good and of ample quantities; the service was excellent. The bedrooms were spotlessly clean and comfortable. We stayed for one night only: would we stay there again - a definite yes.

In our experience, the owners genuinely care about the guest's comfort, willingly finding solutions to requests. The core of the business is a proper pub, which is there if you want to use it but not at all intrusive from our accommodation. We were there on a busy match day and after a couple of drinks chose to slip off to our quarters and found it peaceful and quiet. One reason I booked was the reviews I'd read praising the food. We ate on a busy Saturday evening and both our meals were exceptionally good and really did exceed my expectations. We got the last but one table and realised why. With a view directly on to the beach too, nothing comes to mind to complain about.

First of all, I liked the staff and the welcome. The restaurant is very good, we had dinner there and it was delicious. Also the breakfeast was very good. The room was clean and was smelling nice, and we had the view to the seaside. For the parking is true that it was a little crowded, as it was Friday night and the restaurant and the bar were full, but we have found a place. The only thing which i did not like, is that they don't have a normal reception. We had to in the bar and ask for the room. I think is the owner who had show us the way to the room, and he was really helpful.

Room (suite) had uninterrupted sea view. Fully controllable heating (0 C outside), comfortable bed, quiet, fridge & tea making facilities, quality tasteful furnishings. Potential to rate this 5 star - just a shame about a couple of negatives below, which should have been remedied in advance. Well intentioned friendly owners. This was a really enjoyable stay (for a no-star hotel!) but qualified below. Extractor fan not working in windowless bathroom with WC. Unacceptable to be told "Sorry, nothing I can do". Could have offered the use of another bathroom (I think we were the only guests that night), deodorant spray, or token reduction on bill?). Several ceiling lights not working. Neutral verdict on breakfast: anaemic bacon, toasts cold and like biscuits. Check-in was via the bar counter - a bit unpleasant when carrying luggage and pub guests watching. This may have been a temporary arrangemet. Please note the above are all points for improvement, and apart from the extractor fan the positives far outweighed the negatives! I would recommend this hotel provided the extractor fan and lights all work.

The landlord and his family were very helpful and friendly. Food served in the resturant was of as very high standard. The Channel Tunnel was only 10 min drive so made our morning departure easy.
