The proprietor and his wife were very friendly and accommodating, and we warmed to them. We had one evening meal and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. The provision of beverages, bottled water, towels and toiletries in our room was very good, and the room was comfortable though small (which we knew about when we booked). The breakfasts were excellent with a lot of choice (ie cereals, full English, toast, filter coffee, fruit juices) in the relaxed surrounding of the dining room. In my opinion this inn serves a very useful purpose as a stopover - we stayed for two nights en route to/from Swanage. Couldn't get hot water from shower on the second morning. The mounting of the TV (in room 5) was a bit of a hazard, at head height.) Busy, noisy road but we knew about this before we booked. (The lady proprietor did, in fact, offer us earplugs, but we didn't find them necessary.)

Very friendly staff, really warm people. Went to a wedding in the area and our one night stay was great, especially with a free breakfast thrown in. Highly recommended Situated on a busy road. Sadly the location makes it a place that is ideal for a night and no more.

Convenient for New Forest and on route to south coast. On main Salisbury to Southampton road (A36) and therefore subject to high volume of traffic particularly during day and evening. Rooms at the rear of the Inn are less affected by traffic noise.

We had a lovely weekend in the New Forest and the Shoe Inn was a great place for a last minute booking. Positives: tidy, comfortable room, great breakfast, nice pub with friendly staff. Negatives: on a main road so a bit noisy, floor boards very creaky so can hear footsteps from other rooms. I don't think its good value for money, but it was very pleasant and I would recommend.

We had a lovely one night stay, room was exactly as advertised. We were able to ride into the forest from the door, and the staff were very accommodating. We had dinner and breakfast there both of which were good, and great portion sizes. The live music on Sat night was fantastic too.

The whole experience was outstanding from the warm welcome to the first class dining. Very friendly staff. Special diets are catered for, large portions of home cooked food. The room was the cleanest that we have stayed at for a long time. A well stocked hospitality tray was provided, as well as a small selection of toiletries. The rooms at the front can be noisy. We were made aware of this prior to booking and so this is not a complaint.

Excellent breakfast. Reasonable location. Easy to find. Value for money and rating entirely dependent on which room occupied. Room 2 Good value, 9/10 Room 3 Poor value, 6/10 Both rear facing. The other rooms facing the main road would make sleeping almost impossible.

The room was comfortable. Excellent staff. Stayed in room No 5. I would not recommend this room for more than one person, it was small but comfortable. The location spoils the Shoe Inn, it is a very nice Pub, but is located next to the a36 and this is a very noisy road. The shower in my room did not warm up in the morning.

Fantastic weekend had staying at the Shoe Inn. Staff were brilliant, great food and atmosphere. Perfect location for exploring the New Forest. Will definitely be staying again. There's no hiding it's proximity to a busy road, but the owners and staff more than make up for this with their warm hospitality, great accomodation and fantastic food - especially the breakfast!

We were made to feel very welcome by the landlord and landlady who were lovely people. The bar is great, the locals were good fun and the breakfast was amazing. We were upgraded to a room at the back which cut down on the noise from the road. The room was a very good size and like the bathroom was immaculately clean. We were told about the n oise from the road before booking and what can I say? Yes there were rumblings from the trucks and lorries from the road but this is an old coaching inn and was there before the vehicles! The reviews were excellent and this is why I chose the pub. I will happily stay here again. Plenty of parking and a pelican crossing to get over the busy road...no problems at all.

The family who run The Shoe Inn were very hospitable, on arrival we were warmly greeted by Shirley who could not do enought for us, the room spotless and comfortable. The food very good quality and plenty of it. We loved our stay with Kevin & Kerry and would stay with them again. Thank for all of your service.

Excellent staff and great facilities and games room. Ideal location for walking and hiking. Good food and drinks. I would stay again for sure! As we booked so late we were allocated the front facing room so had a fair bit of traffic noise! But that's it otherwise an excellent stay!
