lovely comfortable room, excellent location, good food
quite noisy from pub customers until closing time
Excellent breakfast, lovely staff, stunning views.
Noisy generator. Also, people were smoking right outside our window late at night and smoke came in to our room.
The warm welcome received from the staff on duty when we arrived late in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble to make our stay a good experience
Location (better than the beach side pub in Lulworth Cove as the beach is too frenetic), beer choice and quality, and the beer garden at the back. Nice bedrooms, though a bit tatty.
A bit tatty round the edges in the bar and eating areas and the bedrooms - but that in itself adds a bit of charm as it's an old-fashioned pub.
Location Food great breakfast Comfy iron bed
food excellent, special board, amazing great range of beers! great old fashioned inn
Friendly, clean, good atmosphere in the bar, excellent food and beer.
the smugglers is situated a short walk to a pebble beach, perfect for an after dinner wonder to. the bed we had was super comfy and the room was light and airy with wooden floors. We had an evening meal and it was very tasty. massive piece of fish with chips, and giant sausage with creamy mash. the staff are very friendly and recommended other sights to see nearby. a very relaxing stay.
Great location, lovely building with stream running through the grounds, great surroundings. Very friendly, helpful staff. Food good. Busy pub but not over noisy.
Bedroom very hot as window only opened a few inches but was a fan in the room.
-lovely location -fantastic breakfast -size of the room was great -when there is no banging doors, the room is actually very quite.
-doors banging in the night -the room needs a fan as it got very hot. -the view was not very nice.
How approachable and helpful the staff were with any issues/problems that arose. The location was brilliant as it offered lots of attractions and places to visit.
Room was superb and breakfast was fantastic, location perfect for relaxing break with great country walks
Restaurant menu caters for all occasions and food is nice but choices a bit limited for a special dinner. Specials were the same both nights, specials or just a bit more of the menu?
The position, the service and the food.
A very dark bedroom
The bar was nice but much of the 13th century is gone. The the people serving were very friendly and attentive. The food was OK but standard fare for that type of establishment. The room was very nice and was cleaned and changed daily. It's location is fantastic and is right on the South Coastal Route so ideal for walkers. Their breakfast is exceptional good.
The menu is unexciting if you like more that standard pub food. I find it remarkable that a restaurant so close to many fishing harbors did not offer any fresh fish or shellfish dishes as a main course other than fish pie. At £100 a night it is overpriced.
food was excellent, bed was soft and comfortable and room size was perfect
Fabulous location, and a very nice welcoming establishment. The food was excellent, as we're the selection of real ales. My 11 year old has a good palette and rated his food as the best he's had. (He had a lasagne for dinner and smoked salmon and eggs for breakfast). Definately going again!
it was brilliant
Brilliant package.Very good value
Parking was difficult as the pub can be very busy
The atmosphere The beers The view
No sun when we came but it has nothing to deal with the smugglers inn
Enjoyed evening meal, especially small portion option
Very slow service at dinner. Excessive size of full breakfast - one of each is sufficient
Just a lovely setting!!!!!!!
Big old skip out front and drainage problem outside kitchen.
Location. Great for walks. Comfy bed Lady who served breakfast was very pleasant.
Unhelpful staff Poor facilities. ( ie no bedside cabinet nowhere to put shampoo etc in shower, no way to control heating, quite noisy in morning Very shabby sheets neec replacing. Towels frayed and well past sell by date. the room was very dirty and very poorly maintained. The wires from tv and kettle not concealed very ugly just hanging down wall and quite dangerous. Shower temperature difficult to controls gets to a very hot temperature and there was mold and cobwebs in bathroom. The windows were not cleaned, walls cracked, paint peeling, floor was filthy (wood floorboards not sealed and trapped dirt in cracks...it was disgusting and urgently need attention Wifi advertised in all areas but when I complained told that it was tough and but Not available in bed room outside their control ....I suggest they purchase a cheap range extender to rectify this problem I think this could be a really good hotel but very poor standards make this hotel one i wouldnt want to return to in its current state. If you are disabled you have to go up a very steep path to the car park.
Great location, sad not to spend more time there, they were very helpful leaving our room for very late check in and very early check out, many thanks
Stunning location. Couldn't be more picturesque Comfortable bed. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The dog was allowed which is great.
Food was disappointing. Staff shifted furniture and sprayed disinfectant around while we were still eating at 9.00 p.m. ..not necessary and didn't help the appetite! Menu choice was limited.
food served on cold plates evening meals require more staff to serve out meals at busy times
