I Found the Southcliff Hotel on Google Maps, The first attraction was the exterior, and it's Position, I had been trying to find the ' Leas Lift ' the last time I went on it was when I was 6 years young 48 years ago !!! with my Dear Mother and brothers, Many memorys came back,... My Wife, and our 4 year old son took the lift. To see his face was a total joy !! ... I had a little less fear this time !! and was thrilled it was still there, All your staff were very helpfull, esp, the cute Latvian waitress !!! My wife noticed the dust above the doors, and the carpets have seen better days, but all in all, I think your hotel deserves 3 Stars, One more than it has, we all had a great time, & will come again, Thank you.x If I was being picky... There was dust above the doors and central bedroom light, the hot tap in the sink was loose, and would drip when in use, and the Carpets could do with changing, Personally, I loved the squeaky floorboards throughout !! ... There is a Pub / nightclub downstairs next door, they kept our 4 year old awake with loud laughing and banter, till 23:30. but all in all, we had a great time. Would return.

The price and location.and the gentleman who works at reception was really friendly and helpful. The room wasnt to bad although the bedding had some stains and had no hot water pressure in the shower and the ensuite smelt of urine. So much so that we bought an air freshner for the loo.

Catering staff in the breakfast room were very pleasant. Breakfast was fine. Very basic. Shabby. Foul water fall pipe ran through the room and there was loud noise every time others in the hotel used their bathroom. This noise went on all through the night. Would be very surprised if that room meets building regulations. Also, no account taken of special requests on the form. Proprieter said they didn't see them.

We liked the price, and it truly was value for money and the location was excellent on the seafront and around the corner from the center of town. The bathroom was extremely small with no window and a broken extractor. This is a personal choice but I didnt like the reusable blanket on the bed, a modern duvet with fresh cover daily would have been better. On the information given for the hotel it said that parking was an additional £5 but when we arrived it was £6.50.

Views over to the sea. Although bed linen and towels very clean and white, bed old stained and plastic cover even stained with blood was not very inviting.

Excellent location - and cheap. Friendly staff, nice breakfast with not-so- smart staff, great location. Really great location at the famous Leas close to the nice harbour area. Did I mention the really nice location? The hotel itself is ... let's be honest, connected to the low price. But ... you are at The Leas! One of the elavators has an inner door with a very, very nervous, annoing alarm sound if not closed properly in five seconds. If you have a room close to this elevator, good luck for a good sleep!

The Hotel is what you pay for, clean tidy, friendly staff, good breakfast. Stairs a bit steep to breakfast room, the Hotel could do with a complete refurbish to upgrade the decor, but overall it was ok, the on-suite was new, the sheets clean, and breakfast good, bar drinks over priced, and yes a little noise from the club next door, but rooms are double glazed so not to bad, the sea veiw was great, and surrounding areas very nice clean well maintain flowers grass etc. would stay again, hopefully carpets may get changed by then. I have stayed at the SouthCliff Hotel before. I really like being near the beach the Lea's and the town centre which this hotel does all three. The hotel staff are really friendly and there is plenty to eat at breakfast. All in all a good over night stay at a good price. No hair dryer in the room and they use powdered milk.

Excellent price and location, and good breakfast. I also liked that I had a bath rather than a shower in my room. Old-fashioned bedding - would have preferred a duvet.

For the price, the hotel is great, if a little dated. We used it as a stopover before a channel tunnel crossing the next morning, and for this purpose it was excellent. Be wary of the bar next door - the late night saturday revellers don't leave until pretty late, so if its an early bedtime you want maybe you should reconsider!
