Felt safe & comfortable
Road noise a slight nuisance
Don't normally do reviews, but we really enjoyed our stay. I don't think the Spinney pictures do it credit. Its simply but well decorated, our room was extremely pleasant and comfortable, just felt that ah, relaxed feeling the moment we stepped in. Felt right at home. You have everything you need, everything is done well and i think we will go back. For the place, I think it is extremely good value for money.
Not much. The location is only ok (though good pubs very close), but I think that's why its not more expensive.
Clean and tidy good breakfasts
main road traffic noise
An easy distance from Lymington & the salt marshes. Fantastic day's walking to Key Haven. Nice breakfast, quaint being served in the bedrooms.
Nothing in walking distance. Good as a base to drive from.
Good location if you are willing to walk 15 min to village. Very clean and comfortable with good service and breakfast delivered to your bedroom. Highly recommend.
I loved the little extras, fresh milk, and kitkats instead of biscuits, and where possible everything was fair trade or made in Britain
everything we agree with everything written by Darren. we did not try the Filly Inn but other Inns in the area also had great food.
The room was incredibly comfortable and the owner helpful and accommodating! Wonderful walks from right outside the door. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Other than one pub just down the road there isn't anywhere for a coffee or meal within short walking distance. Nearest town is only a couple of minutes drive but do need a car to get there.
John was a great host and was always on hand to provide any extra things we needed. He really went the extra mile to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. We also appreciated the small extra touches such as fresh flowers that made the place feel more homely.
TV.Modern look to the room. More importantly very clean.
Hot water would stop. A bit cramped in the bathroom. Can be noisy with passing traffic on main road. Owner abit condascending. Forgot to order coffee for breakfast. Owner had to double check his documentation to prove I didn't. A bit creepy if you ask me but the B+B is super.
every thing was catered for
room was a bit too hot, that my only complaint
We were very comfortable and felt most welcome. There was a good pub within walking distance and a common for star gazing nearby.
We prefer to eat breakfast in a dining room as the reason we stay in a B&B rather than a hotel is so that we can chat to the owners and also any other guests if appropriate.
Location, friendly hosts, full breakfast served in bedroom, clean and modern.
Shower was poor, either cold or hot near on impossible to get just warm.
Not really clear on website that the location was mid-villlage "inn within walking distance" hence not as accessible as a longer stay might require
Friendliness, food and service
Easy access to woods and port
Loose the teddy
Friendly welcome, owner very informative. Enjoyed our 2 night stay here. Had dinner in the pub up the road (to the left as you leave the guest house) lovely meal. Went for a long walk the next day ended up in Red Lion where we had dinner. Very friendly place. Had a restful weekend and spent time at highcliff beach on the way home as only a short drive. Would recommend guest house, very clean and a good range of breakfast choice.
Guest house is on a busyish road, more so early morning . Double glazing very good at blocking out noise. This road has no path or street lights but guest house provides you torches to walk to the local pubs which you will need.
Our night at The Spinney started our holiday off on a relaxing note. John Ruddy was a first class landlord intent on giving the best service possible. Our room was very comfortable and our breakfast was was also very good. The Spinney was ideal for us to catch the mid-morning ferry to the Isle of Wight from Lymington.
Right from the very warm and helpful welcome we had a wonderful stay. The recommendation of the pub just down the road to eat at very good as was the insight to the immediate local area for walks etc. Lots of small touches that make all the difference such as torches for the walk back from the pub, The table in the room where the lovely breakfast is served was nice and all in all a lovely place to stay.
The only down side if you can call it that, is the very busy road outside although with the double glazing, it certainly did not disturb our sleep.
Very clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the breakfast.
Location due to the busy road noise. Felt a little isolated as only had the use of bedroom with no outlook. Not able to mix with other guests, which allows visitors to the area to chat and converse about surrounding attractions. Did not feel the walk to the close pub was in any way safe.
Warmly welcomed Landlord very polite and very helpful Room was very clean and it was a nice tocuh to see maps, torches, hair drier, tea and coffee making facilities, Wifi, even a kitkat!, table and chairs inside the room etc...I wish all B&Bs were like this.
Everything was perfect!
Really good B&B in the New Forest National Park. We felt very warm welcome. Rooms are very clean and lovely furnished. We got all information and little helpers to have a comfortable stay and breakfast of our choice. Despite the street is much frequented daytime, the room is quite due to good windows. Good value for the money.
frequented street, noisy if you have the windows opened
Breakfast in the bedroom was excellent
Parking a little tight
We enjoyed our stay at the Spinney. The owners were very friendly and the staff excellent. The accommodation was comfortable and very peaceful.
