Good food drink and clean
Woken up by rodents in loft.very noises not a good nights sleep. Needs updating on whole of room.
Bar and restaurant area very nice and a friendly welcome by the gentleman on duty.
The room was not very clean. A mop and bucket with dirty water was found in the WC. Mattress was uncomfortable. Bathroom door did not fit properly. Shower head could not be adjusted properly. Quality of breakfast very poor.
The staff welcome was warm & positive, though hard to find an available member of staff on arriva which left me standing by the bar for 5 minutes or so & what vaguely looked like staff there just walking by me,despite my clearly looking lostl!
The room was adequate I guess, just though.Dirty marks on the walls around the room which needed decorating & brightening up.The heating for the whole room relied on a small electric wall heater just inside the entrance door so by not sufficiently placed to warm the whole room at all.The windows are old/dated & didn't appear to be double glazed either.Overnight the room became very cold, even with the electric heater left on all night,& over breakfast I could clearly hear other guests discussing this with one another saying they had hardly slept as the room was so cold, which sadly was true & really not on! The breakfast was poor too,so called 'Continental' so barely adequate to start your day off or to warm you up,especially in Winter, for the price per person for rooms of this very average standard I'd have expected at least a full English cooked breakfast, not a mixed bag table of basic standard fayre that you're expected to prepare yourself fully! So the whole stay, particularly hearing so many other guests complaining about the cold rooms so not having slept at all,was not a good one at all & the totally different standards to the exclusive looking plush bar/restaurant et al which greets you downstairs in the main body of the Inn really is like chalk & cheese suggesting that the sleep-in accommodation is nothing more than a last minute add-on to make a fast buck for the owners! On the corridors of the mazelike layout upstairs too, where your rooms are situated, there were mops & buckets just left standing by the wall, not a cleaner in sight,Health & Safety? Plus,as I entered for breakfast in the morning,it's not good at all to be greeted by a length of cable running across the floor as the morning cleaner was doing the hoovering, despite this being breakfast time for the paying guests,as if we were simply invisible!
Evening food and service excellent...
Not enough basic food at breakfast...bread for toast, marmalade...etc.....but worse of all was the pillows on bed, very hard and uncomfortable...this view was shared by the people we were with
small room, noisy, breakfast poor, ensuite a joke
Our first visit, and liked it so much we definitely will return. Food and service was excellent.
Good wholesome food available in the very friendly restaurant
Bedroom a bit small & bathroom both small & dated
Good value for money and food good. Breakfast fresh and good choice.
Good prices. Good location near to Nottingham but in countryside. Good quality television in bedroom. Separate key fob to allow access to rooms so felt secure.
Very musty bathroom. Very slow service in restaurant - 40 minute wait for two meals.
The restaurant and bar staff very good but can't say the same about cleaning of rooms.
Room not serviced on one of the nights we stopped - had to ask for towels. Buffett breakfast very poor choice - juice and coffee not replaced - if down after 9.00 am nothing much left to choose from. On last morning had an early start - no hot water and the breakfast Tray they said would be provided didn't appear.
Really quiet location in the countryside. The staff were absolutely lovely; very warm and welcoming. The room was basic and small but adequate for a single night.
It's a little out of the way, so after an evenings pint, you have to stay where you are. The restaurant kitchen for the evening was a little disorganised. The bathroom was outdated and in desperate need of renewal.
Food was good.
Uncomfortable bed Cleanliness of room very poor
Staff very helpful about early check in for a wedding.
No staff around at breakfast to refresh coffee and bread which ran out.
Bed ok. Food good value.
Stayed in same room 3 months ago, still have to use magic to get hot water, distance from boiler is excuse. Shower riser fell apart, had to fix it. Door handle falling off bathroom door. Wifi changes with the weather.
The staff were absolutely excellent and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant food is excellent. It is innovative without being pretentious.
The pillows were a bit hard for our tastes, but we had a peaceful nights sleep. The bathrooms and especially the showers could do with a bit of TLC.
Staff were very polite, well trained, helpful and attentive. Real fires and armchairs made this a comfortable place to relax. Restaurant obviously popular on a Saturday night.
My single room No.3 Was located over the staff door which continually banged up to late hours. The buffet breakfast was really COLD. Ice blocks of butter, chilled fresh fruit, everything so cold. Should have been taken out of the fridges earlier.
Excellent staff service Room clean Real Ale in bar Price included continental breakfast
Could have had a better selection of breakfast items.
Staff were very friendly and helpful and the stay was excellent value for money.
Bathroom was fine and clean but not the Ritz.
The Staff were friendly and helpful
The location was bad, no affordable taxi from Nottingham or from Lowndham itself, a 40 minute walk to nearest bus stop, breakfast starts too late and was promised a breakfast pack would be left outside my room as i left at 7.30am this was not there
popular venue for eating which was reasonably priced
noisy cooker vents
Staff - welcoming, courteous, very helpfulvery . Evening meals. Room
Half a cup of coffee and only white bread at breakfast. Clearly other guests had drunk the coffee and consumed the bread before we came down. No one there to 'top up' supplies
Food was fantastic, staff couldnt do enough so helpful all round a good hotel. Made so welcome.
Need to improve the showers apart from that it was a brilliant stay.
the staff were excellent the food good the atmosphere in the bar and restaurant superb.
the bedrooms are far to small/tatty. and in desperate need of of upgrading. the single room charge is at least £10.00 overpriced
the setting and staff were great
no veggie option in restaurant heater in my room did not work
Loved the Inn. Staff welcoming and attentive even with us arriving quite late. The food was fantastic. The atmosphere was cosy and with a real fire on the go i felt really relaxed. Pleasant grounds too.
Room basic but more than sufficient for our one stay. The little niggles, the mattress dipped in the middle and the tiling in the shower could do with attention. It was quite noisy as we were facing the generators but hey ho they have to go somewhere. However, these are only observations not complaints. I'd definitely stop there again. It was well worth the money.
