only had a carvery available in restaurant which was poor, dried up, poor selection. Breakfast again was a poor selection of fruits. Staff were not very attentive especially when clearing plates etc. Breakfast was poor value for money as was carvery meal.

Every member of staff I encountered was so naturally pleasant, helpful and professional I was almost lost for words. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and my experience at The St Johns is up there with the best. Thank you

Big hotel with friendly staff. Nice decor inside. Rooms could do with a bit if an update furniture wise but bedding etc is good. Certainly not a bad room at all. Breakfact was a good spread with lots of non-fried food alternatives. Shower was powerful - which is one of my hotel pet hates made good here. I'd stay again.

Parking would normally cost £7 to exit. Not what I expect when I am paying £112 a night on a Saturday. Luckilly the barrier was up due to a function the night before ;) Breakfast was a good spread but eggs left under heat lamps and grilled tomatoes had only been cooked under the heat lamps not - grilled at all.

The bathroom was filthy. I had to ask for somebody to come and clean it. I took pictures of it as I was so disgusted by it all. Very poor standard that was obvious for all to see; it then makes you wonder what else isnt done properly.

Bathroom hot and grout between tiles really dirty, including bath matt. Hot rooms look run down. Night staff rude, had to use mobile to call externally as staff ignored calls from room, food really bad & over priced £5.75 for a cheese sandwich with no butter oh add another £5 for service charge. Would only stay for £30 a night.

Breakfast on the morning of 3rd April was a buffet and a much nicer experience

The breakfast on the morning of 2nd April was cooked by the kitchen and was really unpleasant - greasy bacon, mix of overcooked & undercooked mushrooms, scrambled egg which seemed to be from a packet. Also I was unable to get the passcode provided to connect to the internet and receptionist was unhelpful

Rooms small and very basic. Noisy weddings.firealarms during the night. Poor apology on not getting sleep due to disruption.. bottle if cheap house wine and I don't drink? Pool area is very very run down changing rooms were really damp and musty not a relaxing spa as advertised at all will never go back suggest the premier inn across the road same rooms and half the price

Clean, friendly, big rooms with tea and lovely TV. staff very friendly with a nice welcome, comfortable beds with nice bedding. Lovely private pool ,children very welcome

not understanding air con, music down stairs until 2am and then people shouting along the coridoor and banging doors. Then smashing sound from room a couple up then finding glass in corridor from broken bottle which grand daughter nearly trod on but this was not the hotels blame

Room did not have a view (overlooked roof and air cond units!) albeit requested room with a view. My wife gave up having a bath as after 5 mins running hot water still not hot enough - my shower 1 min later OK

The bed was very comfy

It was a very cold night and the bedroom was very cold and never warmed up even though I turned the thermostat to 24c Due to the cold I stayed in the hotel to eat dinner in the restaurant and was disappointed by the waiting times for everything despite only having about 15 people in the restaurant and plenty of staff. 10 minutes to wait for someone to take my order, another 10 minute wait for my glass of wine and another 20 minute wait for my main course to turn up, which wasn't anything special. One table next to me had to wait for 40 minutes for their starters to arrive and a total of 90 minutes for their mains to arrive. I don't understand what took so long.

Service on reception upon arrival was excellent - the staff were friendly and efficient and is possibly the best check-in experience of any hotel in the uk I have had. The hotel is well presented, parking ample, and the facilities, especially the gym are also very good.

The room while excellent value for money was slightly worse for wear, mainly in the bathroom - there was some mould at the base of the tiles in the corner of the bath (room 434), and the wall paper is pealing in places - the bathroom could just do with a light facelift - but a greater criticism is the bed - the mattress provided no support and it just felt very cheap and came as a disappointment given the quality feel of the rest of the hotel. I was also disappointed when eating in the bar on the first night - I was informed that there would be a 30 minute wait, but the waitress said that she would check and before I ordered informed me that she was previously mistaken and that food wouldn't be long - I ordered but needed to wait 45 minutes for my dinner to arrive, so this too came as a disappointment and as a result I ate out of the hotel on both of the two following nights stay. That said, the food was of excellent quality - first class.

I LOVE that we coud have our dogs (kids) with us. Thank you! And that you complained to the taxi company for us when we had problems with a couple of the drivers.

The decor of this hotel is good, and its reasonably well maintained. Great location for the nec, where I was working.

Staff so bad it was almost comical - Fawlty Towers! My early morning call was accompanied by shouting in the background of the 'Tell Fred to put the stuff in the van' type, not at all what I was expecting as my introduction to the morning! I was annoyed that no-one bothered to tell me that breakfast was being served from 6.30am on both days I was staying, as this was not in any of the information leaflets I was given (they said 7am/8am) and would have made a significant difference to my day. I waited for ages one morning to be seated for breakfast and a long time on both days to be offered tea/coffee at my table. The waitresses were like Acorn Antiques, there was water dripping through a light fitting, so someone put a champagne bucket to catch the drip. Predictably, the next guest tripped over the bucket!

Room was great, no complaints.

Noise from the people at the conference. They kept us awake until the early hours and then woke us up again in the morning. Banging on doors and talking loudly in the hallway.

Location

Dirty towels left from previous guest. The Bar was closed upon our return from an evening meal, we were told for over twenty minutes it would be open in 5 minutes after they cashed up. Top sheet on bed was stained.
