Score from 51 reviews Superb
Excellent food using fresh seasonal produce. Boutique rooms, nice to get away from the sterile chains
The staff were very helpful and when we arrived the sunday roasts were excellent.
There was'nt much we did'nt like but the variety of the evening menu was not as good as our visit last sept
Large bathroom Real coffee and milk in room Gourmet food
Poor Wifi in rooms.
The hotel really catered for hikers and the room was lovely and big. The bathroom was really lovely with great toiletries. The food in the pub/restaurant was really great and breakfast was good too. Nice touch with books and dvds available just in case your rained in. The bed was super super comfy.
The breakfast was a bit too late for me as i went there for a business trip. Make sure you close the window at night as there were a lot of flies (might be time of year) and at 12 the church bells go off. Might be nice to put a little note in the room to let them know that. I had a bath and the water was incredibly hot. It woudl be better if there was a maximum heating temperature to protect children from being burnt
Pims with fresh fruit Dinner was fabulous
TV Remote was broken
Hotel was wonderful, really friendly helpful staff, room utterly beautiful! Restaurant was excellent too, and great breakfasts.
It was maybe a little more remote than we realised! We were visiting for a wedding, so be prepared and book taxis well ahead if you aren't going to be driving - but not the hotels fault, any other time it would have been a plus :)
Very friendly and helpful staff Nice coffee in room and a good selection of tea and other drinks, like bottle water which was nice as it was so hot. Use of fridge in hallway. Comfortable bed and pillows good quality bedding. Real ale and a good choice Good choice of breakfast and very well cooked. Owner/ manager very good when he found out my husband was not well, and did everything I asked for and this gave me the support I needed.
Being woken up at 6:45am every day by the delivery man under our room delivering to kitchen staff. Our bathroom was nice and large with a very deep bath, a huge shower head over bath with needed a de scale so water kept coming out when not in use. Also the toilet seat would not stay up, and generally it was not that clean around the skirting of the bathroom especially around the toilet, needed some attention. So many flies around the bar area especially at breakfast time. With fruit and bread totally open to them and landing on them. Toaster I found not very good and difficult to either get the toast just right usually burnt of not even slightly brown. We thought the food in the evening was good but portion size small and we would prefer to use plates and dishes not small bread boards or slates with our meal on. The night it was a plate with a chicken dish on the plates where stone cold and before we finished the dish it was cold. The place was in a village on what we would consider a country lane, but it was a busy country lane so as it was summer and our windows where open in the bedroom it was noisy.
helpful welcoming staff food was excellent
Friendly and welcoming staff. Lovely spacious bedroom with bathroom up a few stairs, everything spotlessly clean. We were visiting friends so did not have dinner but the breakfast was excellent. Thoughtful touches like good selection of DVDs, fresh milk for morning tea and willies in various sizes.
Beautiful location but VERY difficult to find
Excellent staff Excellent food Lovely setting Good location
Excellent breakfast. Superb evening meal and amazing ale! The bed linen was incredibly comfortable and the DVD player in the room with a huge range of complimentary DVDs available to watch was a great touch. Also cafetiere coffee in the room was a lovely change to sachets of Nescafe or worse. I would definitely return for a leisure trip if visiting the area again.
No table in the room to work at
A great evening and night. Fantastic in every way.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Bedrooms well appointed comfortable bed with good furnishings. Spacious bathroom with good facilities. Excellent breakfasts and sandwiches provided on late arrival.
The Manager and staff were lovely. Very helpful and friendly. The room and bed comfortable and clean. Lots of information, brochures and maps available. Only stayed one night on route to Cornwall. Lovely breakfast all included in price. Pub garden available if the weathers good.
Not being hikers there was nowhere in walking distance, not even a village shop, just the church, pub, and houses.
I was made to feel welcome as soon as I arrived. My room was quiet and very comfortable; in fact my stay was most enjoyable.
An easy chair would be a welcome addition to the room.
Great room, nice and quiet once the pub below emptied out. Not that late I will add. Food was excellent, dinner and breakfast. Beer was good. Very friendly helpful staff
Maybe food is a little pricey, especially the starters/desserts. Breakfast starting at 8 is difficult if you are on business and need to get away, I probably could have got cold earlier if I asked however.
Originality of dinner menu
Fabulous bedroom. Almost like a suite. Very comfortable bed. Great bathroom. Very good meals. Friendly and attentive staff. Hooray, at last, fresh milk was available in fridge close to bedrooms for you to help yourself! Why can't more places do this? I hate plastic milk!! Also good selection of magazines and DVDs. Will be back!
Everything! The room was lovely and very comfortable, stylish and spacious. Gorgeous food, lovely atmosphere, great staff, funky decor and nice furniture. Beautiful country spot with lovely walks all around.
Nothing! i would love to go back!
The premises are a delightfully restored Georgian House in a tiny hamlet
The bedroom was too hot despite the radiator being off. Couldn't work out how to cool down apart from opening window, which wouldn't stay open!
Location and staff
Food was too salty!
Welcoming, comfortable, excellent food, stayed twice now, consistently good.
Long wait for the cooked breakfast
