Good pub facilities, nice staff and very good service.
Friendly staff, excellent food, comfortable room.Staff who would go that extra mile for customers like going out and buying my husband a kipper for breakfast!! Helpful suggesting places to visit.
Nothing really, it could be noisy at dinner because they are so well payronised, not a complaint!
Great food Great location Exceptional service
So helpful, even organised a complimentary taxi for us to pick up our car the following morning.
Beautiful location, food was awesome.
A peaceful village setting only five minutes drive from Goodwood races. When we checked in early Saturday evening the staff were very helpful despite the pub being busy. Our room was clean and functionable with extremely comfortable beds. We had booked dinner in the pub restuarant, great atmosphere and the food was excellent. We very much enjoyed our stay and fully intend to revisit.
We booked to stay after an evening racing at Goodwood. Great location. Taxi organised. Great food for lunch and Dinner. Very friendly staff.
I liked the staff and owner I liked the size of the room I liked the cleanliness I loved the food
It's an inn. If I'd wanted to catch up on sleep my room was over the bar and it would have been difficult before closing time - but if you book an inn you either know that, or you are stupid. As it was, Hot Fuzz was on the TV. By the time it had finished all was quiet.
The meals were excellent The rooms were clean and comfortable
The peaceful village East Dean, with 98 houses, nearly all in flintstone from mid 1700. The friendly atmosphere in the pub and in the village. The beautiful surroundings on the Sussex countryside. Lots of attractions in the neigbourhood, Goodwood, openair museum, West Dean Gardens etc.
Nothing - I loved it all! But if you are looking for active nightlife, Mc Donalds, souvenir shops etc. East Dean is not the place for you!
Excellent food & great beer. Breakfast cooked to order & superb. Staff couldn't do enough to help
Rooms Food Setting Staff Pub and garden Ambience
Lovely pub, beautiful surroundings, good food and very helpful staff
Good atmosphere and great staff, thanks Adam & the guys.
Good pub, good grub!!
Very accommodating and friendly atmosphere. Will book again, best full English breakfast, and got to watch Arsenal win the FA cup!
There were no complementary toiletries in the room.
The room was comfortable, light and quiet with a beautiful view. The staff were very friendly and the food good.
Fabulous location, exceeded by the food on Saturday night (& the local beers) Very good place to stay for 1-2 nights & not only just for attending Goodwood.
staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful .really nice atmosphere. i stayed three nights and ate there each evening . food was exceptional for a village pub . would return if i'm in that area .
The staff were courteous and very helpful but my room was above the bar and this caused me problems sleeping despite going later to bed
Great staff-the whole team wanted to make sure you had a good stay and that every aspect of your visit was enjoyable. An excellent atmosphere in the bar area. Great food, well presented and very reasonably priced. Spacious, clean, tidy, comfortable room. Superb location. We are looking forward to going back.
There wasn't anything to dislike.
Staff, accommodation, food and drink were all great and set in a very quiet village location
No complaints, would return and stay again
problems with the room - door handle broken, window blind broken, shower remained tepid even after promise to rectify it.
Very friendly staff Best bacon and sausage
Duvets too short Shower lukewarm Scrambled egg pitiful
We arrived early at the Star & Garter but this was no problem at all for the staff they showed us to the room straight away so we could unload ours bags if we wanted to stay in the room no problem, but we came down into the bar for some lunch, again the staff were very friendly and welcoming. After my business meeting myself and my partner ate in the Star & Garter and were very surprised how good the food was and passed our comments to landlord how much we enjoyed our meals, the pub is very relaxing even if you dont stay in the pub over night very worth a visit just for the food and the atmosphere
Nothing would go back again
