Staff are genuine and friendly but maybe need to pay a bit more attention to guests so that they feel less of an adjunct to the main business of bar/restaurant.
Very well designed room where you can control the temperature yourself, even open the sash window. This is a lovely old inn modernised as a restaurant with rooms, rather than a hotel, so don't expect a reception desk or room service (personally I prefer to be independent). Despite the smart dining room below, the rooms are very quiet, as is the pretty village green. A jar of home baked biscuits and brownies was a nice touch. Breakfast nice and simple (help yourself to ham, cheese, croissant, make own toast).
