Friendly helpful staff and a beautiful room above a traditional pub which was a surprise. Would definitely return
Menu with variety of items from which to choose. Freshly prepared; no buffet-hurrah!!
Staircase up to room a little challenging; however, staff assisted with luggage. Pleasant ambience in historical building.
Friendly atmosphere. Very good room. Pleasant location. Good restaurant.
brilliant staff, moved his own car to give us parking!!!
Very bright orange light shining into bedroom.
No parking but this can't be helped as on high street
Had a wonderful stay & would definitely return. Charming Inn on the market square in the town 10 mins walk from Bleinheim Palace. Had researched on other websites, and thought I knew what to expect ,however the Star Inn exceeded all my expectations. Best points were as follows: Staff - friendly & attentive Room - luxuriously furnished Food- excellent gastro-pub menu Location- beautiful & historic Atmosphere- relaxed but 'buzzing' Price- good value for money, considering adjacent hotel prices
Arrived around lunchtime , and as the Inn has no designated parking had to return later in the day to park near the venue. However once parked - no problem at all . Bar/Restaurant beautifully decorated with woodburners - very atmospheric, but a little too hot for diners ! Was still very warm when we returned for breakfast, however this is a minor complaint as in the event the weather was not great, this feature would be much appreciated (and expected!)
Good breakfast but limited choice lovely staff
Mould/flaking paint on bathroom ceiling Pillowcases without protective covers beneath pillowcases smelt musty carpet seemed grubby chipped paint on furniture (shabby chic? - just looked shabby) Breakfast served in pub's bar - felt chilly.
The staff, the room. Lovely food. Nice relaxing atmostphere
No cheaper by booking with booking.com than direct with the Star Inn
The location is fantastic. Woodstock is a beautiful small town and the pubs are beautiful! Perfect to make friends!
Everything, the friendly staff, the room with en suite, the menu choices, the meal in the evening and breakfast in the morning.
There was nothing we did not like!!
Excellent staff and accomodation and a great breakfast
Its our second stay there so we like it. We enjoy Woodstock.
Parking was a little difficult this year as we hit the 'tail end' of a horse trial weekend!
Difficult to fill kettle-a jug would be nice, as kettle does not fit under tap. Decafinated coffee and a selection of tea like many other places do, would be nice.
The location was very convenient. The standard of housekeeing was good and the bathroom was spacious and pleasant to use. The meal in the pub was tasty and the service good.
We were not informed until checking in that no twin beds were available as had been requested. We received no assistance in carrying our bags up a very steep flight of stairs. There was no facility to store our bags after check out as we were still planning th spend the day visiting. I had phoned prior to coming that there was such facility. There was no refreshment s in the room - no kettle, tea, coffee etc.
The bed & the breakfast were fantastic.
They didn't have a fan in the room and it could have done with one as it was warm. Tea cups too small.
Breakfast was amazing The "quirkiness" of our room, with sloping floors etc The staff were very helpful and friendly Room was clean and quiet considering we were above the bar
Good beer; good evening food, good friendly pub atmosphere
Breakfast: not very welcoming, tables not laid and a self-help breakfast bar would be so much nicer/easier for a continental breakfast
Food ,especially the breakfast was a delight. Staff were very good.
Stairway to bedroom was especially steep. Added to the character of the establishment but less able guests would most struggle. Access was possible via the outside fire escape which we did not use .
We had a great stay very a good
Big gap (3 in) under door (room 1) assume this is because floor slopes in an old building, but could piy a flexible draught excluder. Sure you could do something
it is just a lovely inn, I cannot stop to keep going there, you must tried their fried sweet potatoes just divine!!!
Staff and breakfast very good.
I arrived 2 hours prior to check in with no notice and my room was ready and the staff were incredibly accommodating, to the point of offering to collect my bags from the car, even though the member of staff had a broken arm. Room was an excellent size and bed comfortable. Breakfast was good.
Lack of parking at the pub, ended up parking my car on an adjacent road due to the lack of space. Luckily the parking restrictions were suspended. Shower was not very powerful and at a £150 for one night it was expensive. I have paid significantly less in New York for significantly more.
Friendly welcome and good food in a buzzy bar. I thought the rooms above would be noisy but the sound didn't carry.
The stairs up to the rooms were very steep and narrow and difficult to go up carrying a case. Quite a small bed and no tea or coffee in the room.
Excellent food. Lovely comfy bed. Very nice staff.
Parking. Staircase ok after practice. Shame the staff quite willing to cook our early breakfast but Manager said no. Not going back there then.
