Score from 464 reviews Good
The closeness of the amenities, the free parking and the welcome received.
comfortable, good parking (Aberystwyth is awful to park in) good sized room
reception was in pub next door and not well sign posted , though bar staff were friendly and quick to help
Another great stay. As always a warm welcome and comfortable stay. The staff member at breakfast was a real asset to the Starling Cloud. Great service.
We stayed for an evening meal but service a bit lacking and was told this was due to staff change over, our table bill was lost and had to wait while they sorted this out and felt that we had to catch a member of staff to get any sort of service and felt we got very little customer service on this occasion.
Nice staff Excellent breakfast
Perfectly presentable guest annex with a good, clean room. Good facilities and free WiFi. Well situated for the Welsh Government and Ceredigion Council, which was why I stayed there primarily. I would recommend it.
I found the dinner service in the pub a bit brisk - no time to relax - but food was good. Marston's is a big brewer but still hasn't got the hang of not pouring southern beer through swan necks, so normally excellent Wychwood and Brakspear's ales were lacking in flavour.
Comfortable room Nice hard bed A good choice on pub menu for lunches/ dinner Friendly staff Breakfast avaerage
Torn quilt cover & black marks on quilt cover & pillow slips , would have liked more pillows or former ones Toilet flush very stiff to press, but effective
Good service at the pub and fantastic food and lovely comfortable room
Nothing fancy, but good, clean accommodation, very nice staff, and good bar food, all at a notably sensible price. Practical & pleasant location, with ample parking.
Nothing to fault at the price.
Warm, comfortable and quiet Tea/coffee/spring water and biscuits Excellent value c/w breakfast Staff responded to sofa bed issue promptly
Not clear where/how to check in. Sofa bed not made up despite booking family room.
The Staff's friendliness
Bed could have been bigger and softer
Easy booking both on line and at hotel, rooms very good, food in Marsden Pub was good as was breakfast.
On-site restaurant was very good providing excellent evening meals and full English breakfasts. There is ample parking for guests on arrival even on busy weekend evenings. Extra tea and coffee for the room was provided by the restaurant staff on request.
We were expecting the reception to be within the accommodation block rather than in the restaurant building. The controls on the shower in the bathroom were somewhat difficult to operate. I could only obtain lukewarm water from the unit. No daily papers available either to order or purchase on site. Staff suggested we have to walk to the nearest Morrisons supermarket about 5 to 10 minutes away. Another customer also mentioned about the lack of daily papers available on site. Surely newspapers can be ordered when you arrive at the reception desk to collect the room key.
The rooms were lovely and the gentleman on reception was really welcoming.
I went for dinner alone as I was on a business trio and the restaurant staff sat me within a foot of the table next to me despite the restaurant being empty. They then mixed up my order and gave me the wrong thing. Although they weren't rude or unpleasant they were not very competent! And this is from a person who rarely complains about anything.
- very clean and tidy rooms - comfy bed - bathtub (not just a shower) - Incredibly fast WiFi connection in rooms - nice choice of TV channels - hotel located in quiet area (business park, quite deserted at nights and on weekends) - close to city centre - Pub is what you expect from a Marston's franchise: comfy and the food is good value for money
- Charge incl. breakfast per room not per guest; this is entirely unfair towards single guests; there should be at least a £5,- reduction due to ths fact that only 1 breakfast needs to be prepared in the morning instead of 2 - No free choice of seating at breakfast table; I had to sit in a dark corner underneath loudspeakers (horrible music) while a table at the window in bright sunlight and away from the speakers would have been available! - Breakfast served as of 8 am on weekends. During the winter season, when days are short, I would have preferred to have breakfast and leave early to make as much use of the daylight as possible
Good size of bedroom and bathroom. Tea/coffee making well stocked. Plenty of parking. Excellent double glazing meant no traffic noise. Helpful staff. Good choice of cooked breakfast for those who like that.
Although I was on my own, my grandaughter came to visit me and had to sit on the bed. Could do with 2 chairs in a double room. Also would like choice of prepared fresh fruit at breakfast.
Décor (of the pub)
Standing at the bar waiting to be served whilst the staff busied themselves with end of night tasks such as emptying the bins, the drip trays and setting tables for breakfast. Clearly more interested in going home that serving the customers. When confronted, the manager walked off. I have never met such an arrogant person.
price, comfort of room, location, breakfast
Wonderful ambiance, excellent food great staff!
good new accommodation, similar to Premier Inn Travel Lodge. Food rather similar to Harvester chain. Separate accommodation block. Easy to find and to park outside.
had run out of some main meals, first weekend of half term. Breakfast in the pub next morning. Rather long round-a-bout vehicle exit route if you want to continue into town
Everything: new, comfortable rooms, delicious food, plenty of parking space, absolutely fantastic staff.
large bedroom, good breakfast, parking
Location was very good & evening staff service reasonable .
service & quality of food at breakfast very poor . Lived out of suitcase due to lack of storage in bedroom.
We were given aroom for disabled people on arrival neither of which we are and did not find this room friendly to able bodied people
Location, room decor, adjacent pub
Good value for money and very clean
Breakfast service was poor.
