Out in the countryside - you could have been in any country. The bedroom has everything you could need and is really quirky. I absolutely loved the room, the view and the food and company in the bar. Dogs also can go in the bar area and I loved that too.
There was nothing I didn't like, but the single track road into the wilderness that you have to drive up to get to the hotel worried me a bit.
Chilling in the beer garden, pleasant company, nice food, comfy rooms. Matt and Lauren the owners really friendly and went out of there way to please.
Nothing really only that I had no phone signal. Probably a good thing ;)
No mobile signal, priceless these days. Great friendly staff, clean room, excellent breakfast, nice bar atmosphere.
No wifi. No milk in room. Sat nav took us down a very bumpy road. Prewarn guests alternative route.
Location, tranquillity, staff
The room was good just a small down side are the staircase and corridors to the room, they dont do the location any favours, they just seem a little dark and dismal.
Everyone was really accommodating but the service was quite slow. Luckily as we were staying we had nothing better to do but sit back, relax and wait. Rooms were lovely and cosy and great a nights sleep.
Location - information on the website and booking.com would be useful to advise people of the sat nav postcode issue (tomtom takes you down barely passable roads)
Friendly staff, excellent food, reasonable costs
Telephone style shower attachment on the bath, doesn't stretch enough to use whilst standing up, water runs colder when extended upwards, pressure problems. No shower curtain around bath, hence floor gets wet. Very limited parking, asked for a reserved space as per booking instructions, none provided, it's first come first served.
Room was comfortable and breakfast was good. Staff friendly. Very quiet...no disturbances at all. Reasonable price. Good beers.
Found confetti under the bed ..not cleaned thoroughly? Also in our wardrobe (Mallard room) my daughter found a cloth bag with an open bottle of aftershave and what appeared at just a glance to be men's underwear! Pre-booked an extra bed for our 7yr old. This was only put up once we arrived, while we were asked to wait in the bar downstairs.
Excellent. Would highly recommend as the venue exceeded our expectations. An oasis of calm in a beautiful occasion. Great food and beautifully presented. Spotlessly clean, staff could not have been more helpful. 10/10!!!!
Food, staff and Bedroom
Filthy stair carpet gives out wrong message on way to rooms.
Friendly staff. Breakfast served until 11.00. Provision of fresh milk on arrival for a cup of tea in the room.
No long mirror in room. Rather low bed for mature couple. Breakfast rather under cooked and a bit cold. Toast was like a rusk, dry and cold, sorry to say this but true. No we didn't say anything as we didn't feel we needed to as we were going. If we were staying more than one night we would have said something.
Great atmosphere in the evening and a great breakfast in the morning.
Beautiful location. Comfortable accommodation. Good food. Very nice waitress.
Poor mobile 'phone reception in that area. (Not the fault of the inn!) The dining area was not very clean, with stickiness on the table top and leather seat.
Lovely location, friendly staff. The highlight is the food which is excellent.
Small car park but adequate parking in nearby lane.
Amazing Food and Friendly Staff, bar area is lovely to sit at night.
Dust and Hair in room in various places, thick dust on radiator in bathroom and a general feel of being a bit unloved when cleaning.
The location of the establishment is between the Wayho and Enwistle reservoirs. We strolled around both reservoirs in the afternoon. The rustic charm of the building, especially the very old dining area, made for a very pleasant stay. All the staff were very friendly, but very professional. We arrived early but when the rooms became available we were invited to choose our bedroom. The rooms have 'Duck' names (not numbers). We chose 'Mandarin' because it had a shower and the best view of the surrounding countryside. The food was stunning both in quality and presentation - and we were offered a choice of the 4 dining areas. For starters we chose the mushrooms in White wine, cream and garlic sauce and the Goosnargh Potted Duck with plum chutney. Our main courses were the pan fried Goosnargh chicken breast with peppercorn sauce and the chicken burger with cheese and cajan mayo. For desserts we chose the white chocolate and orange cheesecake with raspberry coulis and the bread and butter pudding. The bedroom was a good size with a very comfortable bed and efficient shower.
Beware of the unadopted road off the B6391 - go the longer way round via Edgworth.
Great food. Lovely pub.
End of a bumpy single track road.
Breakfast was fine
The bed linen was not fresh , the room dirty, the door latch jammed and wifi non existent. I ended up sitting in the hallway to get connected. I actually slept fully clothed on the bed which was way past it's sell by date. Sorry
The location and relaxing atmosphere. Excellent food and service.
The staff were great, really helpful, friendly and inviting. The food was absolutely gorgeous and we loved the fact that the inn was dog friendly (although we didn't have our dog with us on this occasion). The views from the rooms were stunning and they felt like homely bedrooms rather than hotel rooms which we both loved. Everything was really clean and tidy and we would definitely stay again if we're in the area.
The only thing that lets the inn down is the approach roads, if you miss the initial turning down a small lane you could end up (like we did) travelling down an extremely badly pot holed country lane at about 2 mph. Saying that, this is no fault of the inn as they do not own the roads and if you can put up with that then you will be rewarded with an extremely pleasant experience.
Great location- lots of nice walks nearby and then a friendly bar serving good food to end the day before retiring to a nice room.
Bizarrely, only that the plug didn't fit the bath well! But it was a lovely bath!
The location right next to Entwistle Reservoir is excellent. The room was comfortable and the Full English Breakfast in the morning was clearly sourced from local suppliers.
The only problem was the Wi-Fi access had a poor signal and was intermittent.
The directions shown on the website should have been more detailed, using main roads - we had to ask a local the way to avoid a very poorly maintained road, which cost us a lot of time and petrol.
I will definitely be staying here again if I need to be in that area for any reason. Excellent staff, excellent food and excellent rooms.
I liked the whole stay
