THE STAFF WAS WONDERFUL, THE ROOMS WAS CLEAN, GOOD FOOD, BATHROOM WAS CLEAN AND THE TOWELS WAS LOVELY BIG AND SOFT REASONABLE PRICE GREAT STAY
THE SHOWER IN ROOM 2 WAS TOO LOW TO STAND UP IN OVER THE BATH, ALTHOUGH I MANAGED AFTER A FASHION
The staff were all very helpful, friendly and efficient
Good food and very friendly staff
the room was very basic and I didn't like a babies cot being in the room. More suitable for family traveling NOT business traveling.
Bathroom and tv etc
Bit cramped and very hot
A nice venue with excellent friendly staff.
staff very friendly, comfortable room, clean, everything you needed for a short stay
Staff very good with curry night and quiz on Wednesday brilliant
Bathroom ceiling too low when taking shower so cannot stand under it. Early mining train noise wakes you up too early
The whole package.location,service,food & comfort.
Food served in the pub was good, service in the evening was good
I stayed here for four nights and had breakfast on four mornings, only one of the mornings was acceptable. Breakfast is 7 - 9. First two mornings 5 - 10 mins late. Third morning open on time. Fourth morning 50 mins late, staff on the three mornings that was late smelt heavily of smoking, things weren't ready etc. I have cancelled my second stay.
The Swan represents excellent value for money in an ideal location - literally minutes walk from Thatcham railway station. The accommodation is cosy and the breakfast is well-cooked. The most outstanding feature of my stay, however, was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble! The Swan gets "five stars" from me!!!
Nothing - no complaints at all!
Stables conversion was fun
Some litter around the gardens at the front
-Good choice for a one night stopover for a wedding that we attended -Other reviews note that the rooms are right in front of the car park and off the garden which is true but think that the rooms are priced appropriately with this in mind. -On the plus side it was a 15 second walk to a beer in the sun! -Rooms are small but have character and we had a good comfy bed -Staff very helpful -Breakfast ample and good quality
-I imagine if you wanted an early night the noise from the car park and pub ma be an issue
room was oke.
a very poor shower. we had to kneel under the shower in a bath. far too small. Did not give information about evening'dinner. It was on a sunday and kitchen was closed at 20.00. staff did not mentioned that. coming down at 20.05 nothing to eat.
Very convenient for us walking the K&A canal. Good value, good breakfast (always important)
Staff very friendly and helpful. Good service in pub - staff reserved a table for dinner as they were expecting it to be busy as Weds is 'Quiz & Curry' night.
Room was rather small and you could hear the railway crossing so earplugs may be a good idea if a light sleeper.
Just a few miles from Highclere Castle aka Downton Abbey. Early check-in was arranged which was very welcomed. Hot powerful shower. Room very comfortable & nicely decorated. Had a wonderful dinner in the pub, food exceptional & staff very pleasant. Took a walk along the canal next to pub, learnt how to open a lock should we decide on a barge holiday in the future ! Came back for dessert to boost our calorie intake ! Railway line crossing barrier stopped beeping after 10pm to ensure we got a great nights sleep. Full English breakfast cooked to perfection to set us up for the day ahead. Would definitely recommend & would return ourselves if in the area.
Nothing, we had everything we needed !
food helpful stsff
nice rooms, very good staff - very friendly and helpful
fire alarm at 3 in the morning, heater in the bathroom jammed on full when it was already a very warm night. These were probably one-offs, so if you're looking for somewhere cheap and comfortable in the area, I'd give it a go.
Nice helpful and friendly Staff.
Room was very small, cobwebs and dust on bedhead. Due to the nature of the room little sleep could hear people moving around in other rooms
Clean, comfortable (although small) double rooms, with modern bathroom facilities. Staff courteous and helpful, excellent cooked breakfast. Would stay here again.
Low ceiling = height of shower tricky for 6' male.
Very conveniently situated across from the railway stain. Also close to family I was visiting.
Very small room, tended to be quite hot in the summer evenings. As I was not spending a lot of time in the room this was not a major problem for me.
Friendly staff and clean and comfortable accomodation
Menu not very extensive.
Where do I begin? This property is "off the beaten path." That is probably a good thing. How this place got a 3-star rating is a mystery to me. Upon check-in, we discovered the light wasn't working in the bathroom. That should have tipped us to the fact that maintenence was non-existent. The room was tiny, even by English standards. The whole place was old, not just in years. I understand quaint. This was just tired. The corners of the bathroom have not been cleaned in years. Since the water for the shower was cold in the morning, our decision to wait to see if it would warm up (it never did, so we got cold showers) resulted in our arriving for our "included" breakfast at 9:05. We were abruptly informed that we were too late...breakfast ends at 9:00.
Bottom bed sheet had a hole in it There was no hot water after 22.00pm and was not hot again till 08.00am next morning.
Good location for the purpose of my visit. Good price (limited budget) Lively pub, good food choices. Reasonable food prices
Room a little small Cold shower one morning
