Friendly & helpful staff....large room..........comfy bed........hot shower......great coffee !
Poor Wi Fi on 1st floor as this is run off a mobile network & is temperamental in seaside resorts.
No hot water ! Noisy location ! Not very clean !
Having to drive 5-10 mins to another hotel for breakfast was inconvienient. Also my room overlooked the High Street and I was woken by the street cleaned before 6 am both mornings
if you visit the pretty town of Hythe and the Salvation army and YMCA are full. consider sleeping in your car. if you book into the swan hotel, consider sleeping in your car again. lumpy bed, flat pillows, no proper shower, dusty, musty, missing light bulbs, run down. no car parking.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Handy to be above a pub and restaurant and surprisingly quiet considering. Liked the quirky property, full of character.
Trickling shower needed replacing. Couldn't open window as shash's were broken.
We have usually stayed in the chain hotels near the Channel Tunnel but this was just as convenient, only about 4 mile drive. Nice reception service from the Patels. The place is in the process of renovation. Nice room, big bathroom which was nice. And on site the restaurant is Mexican, we tried it and it was divine. Well located on the main Street, nice for a walk out around the town, very historic area. Small car park at rear, served us well enough.
cant fault it except that a group of young guests stayed outside chatting until late at night and disturbed our sleep. Guess that was just our hard luck on the day. Wouldn't prevent us staying again
you have to walk to another hotel in the morning to get breakfast. when I booked, it was advertised to be able to receive breakfast, I didn't plan my schedule to have to travel a fair walking distance to get breakfast, not on, and misleading.
See headline. Absolutely revolting that this can happen. New brushes across the street available at £1. Made us feel ill.
Very reasonable price. Room OK. Right in the middle of the town.
No breakfast service. They seemed to have the builders in during our stay, which used up some of the limited car park.
Very noisy Dated, neglected rooms damp smell
Good location in the centre of Hyde, plus free car parking which is a bonus. close to M20 and local tourist attractions. Staff were helpful and friendly. Values was ok compared to other local hotels at late notice
Main gripe was the shower temperature in my room was broken, so only had the option of scalding hot. Didn't get chance to inform the staff on leaving so can't comment what the response would be. Other wise room was clean and comfortable, but a little tatty around the edges and ready for a refurb. But overall for 1 night its plenty good enough.
I like where it was positioned in the street with lovely restaurant s nearby. It was ok as we only needed it for one night but I couldn't of stayed longer as bed was too soft and wouldnt of wanted a shower in bathroom. The staff were helpful and friendly and got spare pillows etc for me when asked no problems there. Overall nice but needs updating like yesterday.
It totally needs to ve modernised. Its so in the 90's with pine everyone like my childhood bedroom. The bathroom needs ripping out and total new ones put in. Theres so many chips and things missing. We had no plug for sink etc.
Value, central and friendly staff
rooms a bit dated
The hotel is away from the bar and so therefore no noise can be heard. Nice and clean with helpful staff.
The shower was poor.. Took an age to get hot and then it was a trickle at most. Someone else's clothes were still hanging on. The staff on payment did not know how to use the card payment machine..
Location - close enough for a short drive into Dover the next morning.
The room and all communal areas were very dirty. There were no sheets provided for the children's bed and the hotel is on a busy high street, therefore very noisey 'till late - maybe I should have checked out the location more closely. I would not stay here again.
tv didn't work wifi likewise, no breakfast unless you wanted to walk inpouring rain to the best western hotel down the road- so we gave it a miss!!
No hot water until the second afternoon. Water dripping through the ceiling. Exposed wires. Mould.
Initially the staff were very friendly and helpful
Room was damp with plaster coming off the wall and a leaking ceiling. Moved rooms, slightly better but bathroom dates and enamel chipped off the bath. General damp smell throughout. Very much in need of renovations.
I arrived at 17.00 to be told my room was not ready! I was asked to wait twenty minutes, I had to wait one, and a half hours with no real explanation. I paid for breakfast, but was informed that the hotel did not do breakfast, you had to walk to another establishment to have breakfast. On my first night at 23.30 a fight broke out in the bar below my room and then spilled out on to the street, so a broken nights sleep. The second night, a young couple had a 'domestic' below my window, so a second night broken sleep. Not a family hotel or one I would stay at again
It is old and very dirty. No tv, no breakfast, no service. It took us 4 hours to get a couple of towels; they finally gave us 2 small towels, for 2 persons. A horrible place with unfriendly people.
Comfortable beds and bright airy room.
Thin walls and only warm water at certain times.
The Location was good, That's it!
The room was not ready when we arrived. they made us wait while they did the room clearly showing no intentions to do so unless the room was let. The bed was clean the room acceptable for the money but the communal areas such as the stair well were filthy The Hotel played loud music til 11 pm which of itself is ok but they allowed several drunk locals to loiter outside and threaten each other in an aggressive way and continued to sell them alcohol which fuelled an hour or so long argument that ended in a brawl after a long and very loud arguement. The Hotel staff did nothing to try to disperse the clearly very drunk crowd either during the evening or until and after closing time. They never called the Police or an ambulance to assist one young man who had been knocked out When we complained they pretended to know nothing about it and in the morning stated that it was not their problem so did not get involved. the Manager Mr Patel refused to accept that he had a duty of care for his paying residents and was not prepared to offer any refund. He eventually offered a free breakfast which we had not had Eventually under pressure he offered 50% refund which we rejected. This is a highly unprofessionally run operation. BEWARE.
Central location Clean considering the age of the property and the sub standard rooms.
Room was less than standard. Damp patches on the ceiling. Plaster coming off the walls especially near the light fittings. No pressure on shower. No staff at check out, we left around 8.30am. Doors were all locked but we managed to get out!
Housekeeping, menu, lack of parking, no breakfast available on site, lighting/window& shower faults.web site doesn't reflect actual ie English menu& prices are not available.
Chaotic situation with no hot water and rubbish in the corridor. Extremely noisy due to a bar downstairs with people standing outside shouting, screaming and then vomiting. Staying there with children was a real nightmare. Will never go there again!
