Very good,
Score from 166 reviews
“The staff were all extremely pleasant from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The full English breakfast was unbelievable! - there was a really good range of cooked dishes but the 'full English' (including the huge teapot of tea) was enough to keep us going all day and was exceptionally tasty. The range of bar and a la carte food in the evening was very good and saved us the need to look elsewhere.”

The food was lovely and the bar reasonably priced. Friendly staff and comfortable The room had not seen a hoover for some time and the bathroom was not cleaned to a 4 star standard. Extremely noisy road but can't be helped.

The Swan Inn is welcoming and informal, our room was well decorated and comfortable. It is very accessible from Salisbury and for visiting Stonehenge. The food was very good, the desert was fabulous. Breakfast was equally as good. Parking and internet is free. Can't fault The Swan Inn and will definately stay there again.

The Swan is ideally located for a visit to Salisbury. The river, which is just across the road, is an ideal place to sit and watch the swans (excuse that) glide by. However as it was bitterly cold we could not take advantage. The staff were, on the whole, most obliging and friendly. The room was clean, if small, likewise the ensuite. The food was very good and reasonably priced and the breakfast (included) was extremely good with an abundance of coffee. The manager stayed on his mobile when we arrived, thus keeping us waiting a while. Not a good thing! The room was advertised as being a 'Superior' double but was most certainly not. It was extremely small - you had to squeeze between the foot of the bed and the wall one at a time. Also although it was supposed to be a kingsize bed - the mattress was most definitely not. The bed base might have been but as the mattress was inserted inside the frame that made it smaller. Because of the above my sleep suffered!

The room was spacious, modern, clean and comfortable. The breakfast menu was extensive with a number of choices. The room was quiet even though it was above a pub.A Lovely historic building very close to Stonehenge.Free parking. The room I booked was not the room I received and I was initially billed for a more expensive room until I questioned what was going on. I was then told that the original room was already taken and they suddenly offered the upgrade for free. I would have been charged extra if I was not vigilant. The breakfast waitress was very unfriendly. I asked for a cocoa/hot chocolate for my young son who does not drink tea/coffee. I was told that this was not possible. The only hotel on our entire trip not to offer a hot drink suitable for children!

We chose the Swan as we were to stay for only one night to visit Stonehenge. The food was great for pub food, the staff more than accommodating, and the final bill was far below what I was expecting to pay. Cannot recommend this hotel enough... We loved our stay.

The room was very nice, if a little chilly on a cold winter's night. But the best thing about the stay was the food that we had in the bar downstairs, which was excellent. I would highly recommend a stay here just for the pork belly! The inn is right next to a busy main road, although the rooms are well insulated from the sound of the traffic.

The rooms were standard, however the staff were considerably rude and I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone. The owners were rude, all because I went without paying for some drinks, which I paid for in the end, the wife left a rude message on my phone and called me some very rude names, to rude to put on here, they are not doing well as a business, so they told me

The friendliness of the staff. The main diasadvantage for us was the absence of a separate area for sitting - receiving a visitor, or just sitting in the evening.

The Swan over-all is very good, being in a good position for touring the area and has excellant Staff. Disappointed that there was very little on the evening menu that we would call "Good English Food" and that the menu was the same for all the time we stayed there.

Very typical English establishment. Rooms are pleasant and held well. They are correctly soundproofed on the street side Very very far from the center, about 15 km (6 miles). It is not practical at all. The card menu of the restaurant of the hotel is expensive

Individual rooms - we stayed in the Grovely done out in black and red which was lovely. Meals we had were very good. Husband enjoyed the real ales. Pretty location. Used the park and ride for Salisbury which was very convenient. Convenient to visiting historical sites. Friendly and professional staff. Good selection of hot drinks in the room. We liked the layout of the bar which included comfortable sofas, bar stools raised dais with tables for eating and a real fire which was lit even at breakfast time. Complimentary newspapers - an excuse to linger over breakfast! Not really dislikes or even a problem but on a very busy road [noise didn't bother us]. Car park the other side of road. No reasonably priced house red on offer.

The fact that it was it was in a small village gave it a warm and nostalgic feeling of an old country inn. Too bad the major road ran right next to it, but there is nothing one can do about that, and with good windows the sound was not obvious. The excellent, included Full English Breakfast, was a real plus. We loved and were impressed that the inn focuses on all natural foods, (free range eggs, whole wheat bread, etc.) and their concern for the environment and recycling. The staff were very helpful in trying to figure out our transportation by train to London, and called the station for us to get the schedule. Carl, the owner as well as being the bartender, registrar, waiter and bell boy, was very friendly as well. Enjoyable stay, out of a major city, and is ideal for slow-pace travelers who do not need a bowling alley, movie theater, shopping mall, or night-life. 1) Beds mattresses were too soft (for us), unlike most of Europe that are much firmer. 2) Public transport does have some drawbacks. Taxi prices are high for budget travelers. The nearest larger town is Salisbury, and the bus is the only way to get to the inn. Although it is not hard to get from the busy bus station to the Swan in about 25 minutes, the return is much more difficult. We waited at the bus stop down the street from the inn for over an hour, and the bus never came. Ended up hitch-hiking, and got a ride in time to catch our train to London and airport for our flight home. Swan Inn must work more closely with the "local" public transport to know when the buses stop near their establishment for future travelers like us. Missing a flight home, would have put a real damper on a otherwise very enjoyable stay at this fine hotel.

Good atmosphere, comfortable and good food. Very convenient for Salsibury. Just a pity about the proximity of the road which is used by heavy vehicles. However, rooms are double glazed which helps a little - provided you don't mind closed windows at night.

Extremely polite and helpful staff. Some confusion with the booking but this was speedily resolved prior to arrival to our complete satisfaction; namely we were unable to have the Hemingway as booked but we were offered a discounted alternative. Very hearty breakfast and the room was very comfortable. Ate in the bar on the first night - this was very good too. The busy main road which separates the hotel from the car park. This did not cause a noise nuisance to us but it wasn't pleasant to cross and the walk to the bus stop for Salisbury wasn't great when HGVs thundered past in what is meant to be a 30 zone.
