The homely atmosphere and the personal touch
The location in centre of old market town and the atmosphere of very old coaching inn; the very welcoming landlord and staff; the excellent cooked brekfast
Bathroom needed upgrading Breakfast served in rather down-at- heel restaurant/pool room, gents toilet nearby a bit smelly - but we gathered refurbishment is planned.
Carpets threadbare Showers very poor The beds were rock hard Needs a general update throughout
The staff were friendly, helpful and made us aware that there would be music on Saturday night- there was! The room was clean, well appointed and the breakfast was also good. It suited what we wanted to do and I shall certainly stay again.
It's a (good) pub with rooms and we were made aware of potential noise issues when we booked. Didn't think the band were very good!
Good sized and comfortable room, pleasant staff, adequate parking and excellent cooked breakfast.
The welcome was good, the staff friendly, and the rooms were comfortable and clean with everything catered for. Especially good that we could take our dogs. Will definitely book again.
Nothing! Although we might have found the live music under the bedroom too much if we had been there all evening. Didn't go on late though and heard nothing more when they had finished.
Clean basic old hotel
No food available at 9.50 pm
The staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. There was a nice atmosphere in the bar and in the morning we discovered a lovly beer-garden. Some aspects of the breakfast were good. The salmon evening meal was good.
The carpet in the bedroom was very dirty. The bedroom furniture (apart from the bed) was cheap and marked with mug-rings. The breakfast was mostly good but the toast was burnt and the bacon was very overcooked. The burger was very poor quality and the green beans were raw.
Staff very friendly and polite. Room very clean. Evening meal very reasonable & tasty.
Noisy bed needed replacing. Heavy metal band playing in Bar beneath our room until after midnight. Everything shook! Could have been ideal if you liked heavy metal, which we don't.
Very helpful staff Super room Rm 3 Very good breakfast
Chipped and peeling wndow ledges Much of the furniture is dated & needs replacing Restaurant/Breakfast room - dark & depressing Manky old carpet enroute to stairs/breakfast - you really couldn't avoid seeing it.
The breakfasts were excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Room 100% clean and very comfortable.
The garden needed attention, too many fag butts laying about.
Free wifi. Breakfast included. Bathroom with window Fan provided for hot weather. Nice village location
Room 5 no plug in bath and toilet lid wouldn't stay up because lid opening restricted by handle on wall.
Friendly staff, Excellent breakfast, Coffee/tea making facilities in room. Mineral water and electric fan in room. Good pre visit communication re email
Very friendly welcome by girl behind bar. We did not arrive till 8pm and she warned us that food was only served till 8.30. Food was pub grub but good. Breakfast was really nice, all freshly cooked. Room was at rear. Very hot day but we had a fan in the room. Bed comfortable, bathroom large and clean. Hotel is old and furniture in room a little old but all essentials there. Recently painted. We did not use WiFi so cannot comment. They have live bands on Saturdays, which would suit us but maybe not everyone. Will go back.
Breakfast did not start till 8.30 and we would have liked to get away a little earlier.
The room was dirty, hair on the floor... No possibility to take a bath Difficult to communicate with the staff It seems that staff and management do not communicate with each other. I stayed one night (which was enough) and paid for 3 at the end!!! I would not recommend this hotel
Breakfast Room was nicely presented
No Wi Fi and no food after 8 o'clock even though we were told that food was served until 8:30
comfortable room very good breakfast lovely staff very enjoyable
there was nothing
Excellent Hotel and the staff were lovely and helpful. The rooms were very spacious indeed with a quirky character. The chef was super and most accommodating, fabulous breakfasts. We had family staying at a hotel over the Road who came to join us for breakfast as there's was very poor standard.
Although the hotel offered wi-if we were unable to connect to it even with passwords. Not the end of the world, but a little frustrating for teenagers and their gadgets! The traffic was a little noisy if on the front of the hotel. We had the window open as it was warm at night, but when it was closed the sound of traffic was reduced.
Friendly staff, fine location, good beer and food.
We overnight here on our way up to Glastonbury, and get going before breakfast starts... so an early breakfast would be nice
The staff were very helpful and the bed was very comfortable
The bathroom and general décor could do with a bit of TLC
Great welcome. Staff considerate and friendly. Food good. Nice atmosphere.
Poor Wi-Fi. The room I had was above the area that smokers used and was subject to the smell of cigarette smoke when the windows were open.
The food menu was small but what I had was well presented and tasted good.
When I asked for clean towels I was told there would be a £10 charge . It's state's that wifi is available all over this is not the case.
It was easy to find and was a good location for the next stage of our trip.
The car park was difficult to enter and exit. The noise from te bar below and the main road outside impacted resting time. Limited to a pub menu for meals. WiFi was not available and the hotel did not offer any type of compensation, even though they warned us that it was not reliable. We chose this hotel in part because it had free WiFi, this was important to us.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were excellent!
