Room very clean, staff very friendly

Front room of hotel is very noisy on bin-day but I guess that can't be helped. Breakfast was lacking in taste and portion size - is it still technically a FULL English without sausages?!

The location was great and the hotel easy to find. Its history was obvious, which added heaps of charm. Friendly, helpful staff. Food was fabulous and accomodation charming.

The room was extremely hot, having the windows open also meant having to put up with noise from the street. Only bottom half of sash windows opened, which was a safety issue with children in the room. Not a very restful night!

I liked the ambiance of the Swan Hotel...the welcome...polite service...the breakfast.

I wasn't too happy about being stuck in a 1st floor room which had absorbed a lot of warmth on a hot day. One small window gave insufficient ventilation.

The four poster bed was very comfortable Enough amenities in the room excellent staff, porter and breakfast staff excellent breakfast

we had requested a four poster room which was super . we appreciate this being a wonderful hotel that has been here for a long time, however air conditioning in the room would be welcomed. As we had our wooden windows wide open, during this very hot weather , and due to the location of the room over the main road, I unfortunately didn't get any sleep until about 5am. However my husband did sleep through the road traffic! It wouldn't put us off staying again, but we would carefully request a room away from the main road.

Comfortable room, clean facilities, reasonable tea/coffee tray.

A very warm evening and the room was exceptionally hot and would have benefitted from a fan to cool down.

The staff were exceptional; friendly, efficient and helpful. We really felt they meant it when they asked if everything was alright. The evening meal was superb and the breakfast equally good. We had a ground floor room in an annexe at the rear which was great, as we were travelling with a guide dog. Well kept local real ale served in an oak beemed bar.

The influx of "Cheshire Chavs" in 4 x4s in the evening.

old world atmosphere, good breakfast, Excellent dinner menu and generous portions.Level access from the car park and some ground floor rooms in the "annex" .

No Lift in the main building- probably not possible in such an old building but a warning on the website would be useful.
