The location, the friendliness of the staff, the food was excellent at breakfast each morning. The food at dinner was also excellent but at special treat prices.

very conveniently situated in the town, the staff were friendly and the room (not the bathroom) was comfortable.

bathroom was rather poor, shower weak, floor had a dreadful look, you felt like you were in a public loo.

we were allocated a room not part of the main hotel (were not aware of this prior) and the room was more like a chalet with outdated decor and we were left very disappointed with standard of facilities including the bathroom which looked in need of a clean and update . would not recommend anyone to stay in the "Garden Rooms" but have no experience of standard of rooms in main hotel

Cleaning could have been better especially in the communal rooms/stairways.Television provided only limited channels and picture quality poor

The staff were, without exception, very smiley and helpful. The breakfasts were good, and the sister hotel, The Crown, had an excellent front bar/restaurant with very good food. The garden area was very pretty, and having your own table and chairs outside the room was a nice idea.

The room itself needs updating. The wallpaper was stained, and the bathroom floor was of a poor, cheap material with the wood rotting in the corner of the skirting board. If we had not had a reduction in the room rate, we would have been very upset!

I'd stayed at The Swan before and this time initially I was disappointed not to have a room in the old building, but the garden room turned out to be excellent with plenty of room and seats outside our door where we could have a picnic and read

Parking is always a problem in a town-centre hotel and we only had a problem on one evening. On our final morning there was a lot of noise coming from the brewery next door with a lorry revving up from 7.15 to 8.15 am.

too noisy you could hear everyone walking around, above you , down the corridor etc.. anmd there were some very early risers! Room also very hot despite window open - although that looked out onto a fire escape and i felt a little hessitant to leave it open all night - Room 3

We found the atmoshere welcoming and friendly. Very comfortable and relaxing. The food was good and the staff were extremely pleasant. Certainly a quiet location where you can forget the stress of a busy life.

We asked if we could upgrade our room as we did not have a DVD player in our room and the receptionist was not very helpful. I asked for an upgrade on any night as it would have been nice to have been able to watch a film but no joy.

very friendly hotel with excellent food. Upgraded to a superior room at little extra cost.

Lift is ancient and carpet on some of staircases is in need of replacement, perhaps adds to the charm of the place
