The location, the friendliness of the staff, the food was excellent at breakfast each morning. The food at dinner was also excellent but at special treat prices. |

The ambiance of the hotel, its decor and the staff made us very welcome in an informal way. Southwold is a delightful place to stay, and The Swan is at its centre. Breakfast was great but the chef went overboard at dinner. There were too many flavours in the main course competing with my delicious pork. |

very conveniently situated in the town, the staff were friendly and the room (not the bathroom) was comfortable. bathroom was rather poor, shower weak, floor had a dreadful look, you felt like you were in a public loo. |

The breakfast was one of the best we have had in a hotel. Lack of staff in the bar area. On the second evening in particular there was a queue for drinks, as the bar person seemed to be also taking food orders for the restaurant. Where was the maitre'd? |

food was excellent and service was also good we were allocated a room not part of the main hotel (were not aware of this prior) and the room was more like a chalet with outdated decor and we were left very disappointed with standard of facilities including the bathroom which looked in need of a clean and update . would not recommend anyone to stay in the "Garden Rooms" but have no experience of standard of rooms in main hotel |

Friendly,helpful staff.Excellent location.Restful ambiance.Always good to be in Southwold Cleaning could have been better especially in the communal rooms/stairways.Television provided only limited channels and picture quality poor |

The staff were, without exception, very smiley and helpful. The breakfasts were good, and the sister hotel, The Crown, had an excellent front bar/restaurant with very good food. The garden area was very pretty, and having your own table and chairs outside the room was a nice idea. The room itself needs updating. The wallpaper was stained, and the bathroom floor was of a poor, cheap material with the wood rotting in the corner of the skirting board. If we had not had a reduction in the room rate, we would have been very upset! |

I'd stayed at The Swan before and this time initially I was disappointed not to have a room in the old building, but the garden room turned out to be excellent with plenty of room and seats outside our door where we could have a picnic and read Parking is always a problem in a town-centre hotel and we only had a problem on one evening. On our final morning there was a lot of noise coming from the brewery next door with a lorry revving up from 7.15 to 8.15 am. |
