Very poor restaurant service. Unavailable items on the menu, had to settle for 3rd choice of wine, inexperienced young staff. Left the table after waiting 25 minutes to order sweet. Very loud disco music below the room till 1215 am. Then being told it was mentioned as 'live music' on the web site. A slight difference between live music and disco. Kept awake by noise in the street after end of music. Not mentioned when we checked in that there would be noise and no offer of another room away from the noise. Very poor experience overall. Spoilt my homecoming. Will not be returning. PS One compensation in that they didn't charge for the meal or drinks.

The Swan hotel was perfect for what I wanted (overnight stay whilst working locally), The single room I had was comfortable and had a double bed. The price was excellent in the fact that breakfast was included. The evening meal was good and very reasonable and the surroundings just like a good British pub. The surrounding area was lovely and I feel I'd like to come back to explore further when not working. So much nicer than a Travel lodge/Premier Inn type place.

I stay once a year at this hotel for a reunion so it holds personal memories. If it was not for that, I would not stay there. It is quite run down, for example, curtains hanging off the rails, windows rotting, bathroom mouldy, side of bath split, finishing very poor. This year, in my room, the toilet roll holder was on the opposite side of the bathroom and even if you were over 6 foot with long arms with the best will in the world you could never have reached it from the throne! This hotel is crap for the money, and I stay there only out of misplaced loyalty!

The hotel is member of the chain of old english inns. It is a typical English country pub. Great hospitality. Nice people. Breakfast was first class. Despite the fact that I probably got the smallest room of Britain I recommend the stay in this Hotel annex Pub. It is very close to the Stansted airport and you will find the true English atmosphere.

Take care,keep this old house as clean as possible.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good. Rooms had every convenience and were clean and well maintained. Would recommend and will be returning to this lovely part of the country.

Beautiful location, comfy bed.

Dirty, staff rude, breakfast disgusting.

Very nice staff, good location, comfortable bed and the room was very quiet considering there was a band playing downstairs in the bar - we couldn't hear it at all.

The bathroom was very outdated and could do with being completely renovated. Various things in the room weren't as expected either, such as the electrical socket hanging off the wall.
