staff, food, location, restaurant, history, wedding, bedrooms (but very hot)
beds a little to soft, and rooms ver hot and can only open windows a little. Walking into where rooms are bad smell of damp
shower needs attention.the address should read Ripley high st not Woking high st we spent almost an hour in Woking looking for the hotel before a gentleman told us it was in Ripley.
It was handy for next day business, the staff were friendly
There was a strong mould smell upstairs as if damp had been there a while. Shame as it took away from the ambience of a nice place.
Stay here lots when the price is right! Friendly stay and fantastic Restraunt .... A little price but you get what you pay for
Sometimes the room rate here is way to expensive and when it is I won't stay here
I found the experience good overall
wifi was not working, they were awaiting repairs.
Wifi not workin
The bedrooms are very quiet and comfortable and the restaurant is excellent. I stay frequently - as a solo female traveller it feels very safe.
The last few times I have visited the tea/ coffee supplies have not been replenished fully.
The eavming meal was poor. Chicken pie was full of chicken soup with lumps of tasteless chicken mixed in. The £140 deposit was 'ring fenced' for a week!
Cold no heating in room Water dripping into buckets Cold no heating in restaurant Tired hotel
Excellent Breakfast Nice bed
Too hot in the eaves of the hotel, I did not have a good night sleep. No upright shower Small towels
Location, close to Wisley.
There was a broken tile on the bathroom floor, the bathroom had that "not quite finished look" about it. The cups in the room were not washed when the room was serviced and there were cobwebs and dust on the top of the surfaces in the room. Drinks purchased from the bar were served in dirty glasses. We ate at other places in the village due to the dirty state of the accommodation. Some of the staff were ok, some were very "can't be arsed" and this shone through in their attitude to the customers. We would not recommend this place to people we wanted to remain friends with!
Room and staff polite.
Poor service and poor quality breakfast.
For a busy location it's very peaceful Comfortable bed Nice breakfast
Bathroom had peeling paint on ceiling and discoloured grouting There was no milk on the room
I'm guessing must people would stay at The Talbot for it's historical features and indeed the main hotel is quaint and with great character. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the hotel is verging on appalling including visible cobwebs at reception, the insidious smell of musty carpets in desperate need of being cleaned (particularly in the hallways sealed of by fire doors), layers of dust on the headboards and very dirty walls in the new rear and separate section of accommodation. The new rooms were without a hint if character and frankly depressing. The Travel Inns and Lodges are cheaper and of a far greater standard. I commend the receptionist who acknowledged our complaint about the standard and cleanliness of the room and moved us without argument she also cleaned the cobwebs away when we pointed out that it wasn't just the rooms that were dirty. It's a shame as the hotel has great potential yet the shabby paintwork and unpleasant odour in the hallways are either being ignored or overlooked.
Quiet and welcoming.
Poor choice of fruit and alternatives to a cooked breakfast. Service a little slow.
The place is interesting, well set out, convenient for my business use, no problem with booking in late.
The organisation of the breakfast in the morning, some instruction from the staff that cooked full breakfast is available needs to be clearer and that coffee or tea will be served at the table if you have this option or the Continental breakfast is available with the most horrendous coffee. This was further highlighted when staff member took my order for a full breakfast and stated can I get you a proper coffee rather than that rubbish. Breakfast was generally ok but not the best I have had, large undercooked mushroom, tasteless tomato, 1 hash brown and no toast to help deal with the rest of the breakfast.
Nice bar area
Food was poor
Everything!! What a lovely place and so much history to it as well
Next time we go there we will ask for a firmer bed it was nice but too soft!
The breakfast was outstanding and the service also. Great location, would not hesitate to book there again.
The mattress was a little on the soft side.
the fire alarm green light - too bright- stopped me sleeping
very friendly helpful staff very comfortable beds delicious breakfast- excellent value for money
Swift and friendly check in, beautifully clean and spacious room, bed super comfy, very dog friendly, loved the place
Nothing not to like.
The receptionist was welcoming, and the staff in the resturant were pleasant. The rooms were clean. The waiter was attentive and knowledgable Food was good , and quick service.
There was a musty smell as soon as you walk into the accommodation block, there was only one towel each, only One packet of biscuits ... the menu in the room is different from the one used in the restaurant , the room offers a two course for a set price with a free drink but when we went to the resturant it was £2.00 more expensive each and no free drink and different menu , when we asked we were told it was about 3 months out of date ... Were disappointed we were not offered the menu or cost that was advertised in the room ... With a free drink as it was just a pint ... Noisy in the morning with people leaving early as there sounded like cobbles outside that other customers were dragging their suitcases over at 6.30 am. There was not a veg option on the set menu.
Staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was good quality and good value for money. Breakfast was excellent
