Score from 335 reviews Very good
Location was ideal for what we wanted; not in the hustle and bustle of a large town or city. Breakfast and evening meal we had were excellent and can't be faulted in any way. All staff we had dealings with were very polite, helpful and friendly. Comfortable bed.
Did not supply enough tea bags and milk in the room. I should have asked and more would probably have been supplied.
Oak beams. Quirky building. Setting and bar area
Poor plumbing. Meagre toiletries
Bed was very comfortable, the room was a decent size and the shower had good pressure. The bar is very good and the food was perfectly cooked and of excellent quality. The girl on reception was particularly pleasant and friendly to all guests
Small Towels & Cheap Toilet Paper. Wifi did not work once you had handed over email address and mobile contact details. Fortunately reception is good so you can use your mobile internet.
Friendliness of staff, and comfortable room and facilities. Good to have an ironing board and iron in the room. Wake up call was personal and pleasant.
Noisy guests next room, in the earlier part of the night, but they were fine from 10pm onwards; so no issue with sleeping.
Overall a decent hotel
I booked a taxi through the hotel, the driver asked for directions to the location? Then got lost, then tried to charge me £18 for a five minute journey! Although this was not the hotels fault they should be careful what taxi companies they use/recommend
Booked 4 rooms for family with ages ranging from 17 to 76. All rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were really helpful, pleasant and fun! The restaurant was pricey but gorgeous food - no complaints from anyone. The history of the Talbot Inn is really interesting.
good location friendly staff
Our room clearly had not been hoovered for some time....hair, bits of tissue and food on the floor is not good enough for £100/night. We complained and were given another room which was just as bad. Whoever supervises the cleaning is not doing their job. At least a 25% discount was offered. Eggs benedict for breakfast was cold.
Nice quiet room away from the main hotel, bonus that the windows could be opened, I lcant sleep without fresh air, comfy bed, only problem was getting wet waking to and from. Had a couple of drinks in the bar, dining looked nice although did not use as eating elsewhere that night. Staff friendly.
There is no covered walkway to the main building so you get wet! Really would have liked to have had a bath as well as the shower and the in room fridge did not work.
As a regular visitor to this hotel I always find the beds really comfortable. The staff are always attentive and friendly and the food tasty.
The Wi-Fi was not operational on my last visit which was inconvenient and the room could have done with a good dust however this was not my experience on previous visits.
The usual excellent surroundings in main hotel and improvement in meal availability and standard in the bar. In the past have had to go out to eat as meals not available at certain times. Excellent improvement. Waiting staff very good - Thank you.
Nothing to dislike
Good bed and comfortable bedroom and good choice of food from both the bar menu and the restaurant. Not quite Woking but a very nice place to stay.
Not the best bathroom, a reasonable shower (no bath) and the lighting was not too good. The WiFi is free but can be very slow.
useful location; comfortable bed
bedroom wasn't clean; poor lighting; sense that the staff didn't really care; poor wifi.
The food was very good and reasonable Comfy bed - good nights sleep
I found the Wi-fi quite poor, it only appeared to be good in the bar area and the 2 nights I stayed there, the language in the bar area was quite colourful - maybe set up a swear box for a worthy charity
attractive and historical coaching inn, just a few minutes off the A3
accommodation was just starting to look tatty, despite newish bathroom, the walls had greasy marks. the mattress was soggy. wifi details were not availible
The staff were excellent very friendly and accommodating Very good for an overnight stay but wouldn't want to stay longer
Rooms too hot couldn't open windows due to traffic noise. Food could have been better.
Unique character. Excellent staff and good quality surroundings and food.
Great Staff Old coaching Inn but also has a modern side too. Food excellent
Food a little expensive Price fluctuates hugely even when you stay there lots
Rooms average size food ok.
Push button lock on entry to complex of Rooms Breakfast poor choice. expensive against other Hotels stayed at.
Good bed and shower. Bar and restaurant food was very good
Filthy room with layers of dust. The carpet looked as though it had not been vacuumed in years with caked in grime around the edges. Paint peeling off in the shower. Shower tray loose and without a front panel. The whole demeanour of the newly built annex at the rear of the hotel was shabby and dirty. There were two large fig plants in the entrance of the annex with less than a dozen leaves on them. Not welcoming at all.
The bedrooms were tired, bed uncomfortable & sheet had something stuck to it?! Towels were thin & worn. The restaurant food was dreadful & very expensive. We had to send one starter back as it was inedible the other was cold. Mains were dreadful & we left most of it. Breakfast was better. The bar was dated & uncomfortable. The staff on checkout were not interested in my complaint.
Bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet.
The block we were in smelt like damp. When e got to the block there was no lights on and door unlocked made it feel damp dark and unsafe.
Very comfortable bed and quiet room. Breakfast was excellent
Good value for the room
I was not warned that the restaurant does not open on a Sunday evening and there are no other eating places in the village,. This meant I had to drive to eat.
Restaurant very welcoming & food very good
We liked the fact that the hotel is so near to Wisley - the RHS gardens - and it now going to be our preferred place to stay when we visit Wisley. The staff were all very friendly and most helpful. Although we were the only people dining at night the staff made us feel most welcome.
We arrived down for breakfast at 9.00 a.m. having been told that breakfast was served until 9.30, but we were asked to sit to one side of the resturant where the tables weren't laid. We were shown the buffet style table, but weren't given cutlery straight away, and our cups were only filled with tepid water, rather than being given a pot of hot water. We asked for poached eggs, but both were brought to us on a cold plate, so by the time we ate them after cereals they were cold. We found this most unsatisfactory, though the quality of food was acceptable on the buffet table. The only other thing was that the light over one of the twin beds wouldn't work, and the TV was so placed on the wall that from lying on the bed the picture was very dark.
