Central location easy to access main roads in any direction. Room was large and comfortable plenty of storage space
Our bedroom appeared to be above the kitchens which you got some noise from until about 10.30. The bed was ok but we didn't have a great night but that could be just us. The floor was uneven so everything slipped off the tables which was a bit irritating
spacious room, comfy bed, lovely big bath.... welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, nice coffee, yummy desserts
disappointed with the dinner - cod was too salty and not cooked enough. at breakfast my crumpets were ages coming so the coffee went cold while I waited, and when I asked for more it never came... shame there were no tea/coffee making facilities in our room.
Asked for a room overlooking the garden and that was what we got. Staff were friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough for you but were never over the top or in your face. Food was delicious, breakfast ,lunch in the bar and dinner in the restaurant.
We could not get any food in the hotel! Surely an hotel should cater for its guests first and foremost. Although we had not booked dinner the first night we could not even have any food in the bar!. The same thing happened on the second night May I have a response?
Food is both interesting and excellent, would recommend a Bed, Breakfast and Dinner package. Lovely public areas inside and out. Central location in Malton which is a lovely market town to explore and good place to make for the Yorkshire Wolds for walking.
Our room was uncomfortably warm, we think because it is located above the kitchen. We did have to wait quite a while after the stated time to check in, staff very apologetic, but we would have preferred the room to be ready.
The staff were helpful and welcoming. The food was exceptional and the hotel was beautiful. They made us and our 2 dogs so welcome.
Loved the general atmosphere of the place, the food was an experience that we both enjoyed very much. Comfortable nights sleep.
Unfortunatly the bed spread was dirty we noticed on arrival and asked for it to be change, which happened very promptly.
We were impressed with the courtesy and prompt attention of the staff, the ambience of the building and the quality of the food both at breakfast and dinner. We would be happy to recommend this hotel.
We have no adverse comments to make from our visit.
Will definitely be staying again!
good accommodation excellent food
The bathroom was designed for wheel chair access
The hotel is not ideal for visiting if you have mobility issues
Good bed linen Comfy bed Room on the ground floor Dining room laid out nicely Lovely views from the front of the hotel Nice kept gardens Disabled parking at the entrance to the hotel Nice girl who helped with our luggage via the outside pavement on the main road into Malton
No one on reception when we arrived Surley staff No receipt given when I paid in cash No flexibility on the menu arranged for myself No hospitality tray in the room had to ask for one Although the wet room had a hand held shower it was the size of a small round frying pan and heavy to manoeuvre. Usually this is the size of a fixed shower head and there is a smaller hand held device. To sit on the toilet you had to sit side saddle then swing your legs round till they fit under the sink which you could then rest your arms on. The sash window, when the handle was moved in the middle, fell down at the top and when I struggled to push the bottom window up it wouldn't stay so I ended up putting a solid glass there to keep it up. We eventually got a tray with coffee etc but no biscuits. Going through for dinner we were shown to our table by a very dour young person I ordered a large wine and a glass of lemonade( as it was my birthday I did think they may offer me a drink)my friend has water. Our starters were ok crab and corn risotto and tomato and basil soup(not very imaginative from my point of view as I had asked for a nice 3 course meal about two months previously when I booked). My friend had lamb with a sweetbread, broad beans, three small mushrooms and gravy(being a diabetic she needs carbs with her food and there were no potatoes of any description on offer)and the food was not hot enough. I had asked for chicken breast and that is what I got with a nice peppercorn sauce supposedly with rice!! no and well cooked peas and carrots the peas were ok but the carrots and whatever other veg I was given were rock hard so did not get eaten. No one came to ask if everything was ok when we had the main course . My friend asked for a fresh fruit salad and I was getting an eggy bread brioche with caramelised bananas, some sort of sauce and ice cream,we asked for them to be brought to the room.
Relaxed atmosphere. Lush breakfast -especially bacon sandwich yum! Friendly staff. Great location. Lots of fan places to eat nearby when your all James's out.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. The food was top class - breakfast and dinner. The location and setting is perfect
Breakfast service was poor as you were obviously short staffed for the number of guests. However the staff were doing their best Very late room change which meant we couldn't take a rest late afternoon without being disturbed.
The location was perfect and easy to find, very close to Castle Howard. The food was fantastic and the ambience of the hotel was peaceful and the staff were all very friendly.
On arrival, the Receptionist was clearly on a long telephone call to a prospective guest who was asking a huge amount of questions, which were being answered courteously, but this all took a very long time (at least 10 minutes) whilst we stood around waiting. It may have been a better option for her to have asked for a telephone number and offer to call them back. We were also a bit taken aback that this same lady offered to carry our luggage to the room, perhaps the hotel should employ a porter, as while she is answering the phone and carrying luggage, other guests are kept waiting.
good breakfast nice room
no air conditioning on a hot day table unavailable in restaurant , had to eat in bar my wife had food poisoning ,with no feedback after complaint
Our stay was a very enjoyable occasion from start to finish and would visit again without any hesitation.
Arrived and had a warm welcome, the room was huge and the bathroom was large. Shower was excellent and the little touches nice. Included dinner in the stay and that was fantastic too.
Room was very warm with no way of cooling it down. A fan would've been useful.
Restaurant serves top food. Very polite Staff. Nice and spacious rooms. Very central and close to rail station.
No air-conditioning. It was really very hot as at the time Britain there was an out of usual heat wave.
Bed and the breakfast
Rooms vary in quality but all are the same price - not cheap!
The receptionist and waiting staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, the food was amazing.
it was very quiet in the evening but as we stayed on a Monday that is probably to be expected.
The food was excellent though our first evening the restaurant was fully booked so we had to find somewhere else to eat. Room was very comfortable and there was a very nice lounge to relax
A few more stairs to our room than I would have liked
Fantastic location great sense of history in hotel bedroom well refurbished
No bathrobes in en suite bathroom no welcoming package
everything. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Food was fabulous
No tea and coffee in rooms
