Area information

Malton is a bustling market town, approximately 32 km (20 miles) from the historic city of York. There is a traditional market each Saturday in the square, and the town has a number of interesting shopping arcades.

Eden Camp Modern History Museum (2.5 miles / 4 km) - housed in a former Prisoner of War camp, this innovative museum uses moving figures and authentic sounds and smells to depict life in wartime Britain.

Castle Howard (7.5 miles / 12 km) - built between 1699 and 1712, this magnificent stately home is the largest country house in Yorkshire. Various events are staged in the extensive grounds throughout the year.

Flamingoland Theme Park and Zoo (8 miles / 13 km) - as well as a host of rides and attractions, Flamingoland is also home to over 1000 animals, offering something for visitors of all ages.

By Car (from York):
- Heading away from York, take the A64.
- Leave the A64 via the York Road exit (follow signs for York Road Business Park).
- Follow York Road until it becomes Yorkersgate.
- Look out for the hotel on your right.

By Rail (from Malton Railway Station, 500 metres):
- Exit the station and head across the river via Railway Street.
- Turn left at Yorkersgate, and watch out for the hotel on your left.
