Light globes that had blown Non functional hairdryer
Liked the stable room, liked the bed, bathroom great. Food tipi le pub fare. Wonderful staff. Had great time.
*location good. *accommodation attached to nice village pub but separate from main building. *comfortable (if creaky) bed.
*Poor provision for hanging clothes. *Room layout could be improved to provide more room and accommodate wardrobe to solve above. *No mirror in bedroom. *Poor choice of beverages in room. *Bathroom in need of freshening up and not particularly clean. All the above could be easily and cheaply rectified to make the room far better.
Lovely building, nice distance outside of Oxford, cosy restaurant bar area, great food and comfortable room
I should have checked regarding check out as I needed to leave at 8am and they didn't open the front desk until 8:30am
The menu was varied and had a good range at all prices. The portions were generous and well presented. The breakfasts were huge and excellent. The service was helpful, especially when we had occasion to draw the attention of the lady of the house to a minor problem.
Neither bedside light worked on arrival. We couldn't get the taps to produce water when we wanted to have a bath late at night. We found the temperature in our room too warm. I opened a window, but there was o restriction to how wide it would open and being on the ground floor, I anticipated intruders for the rest of the night.
Beautiful old pub in a great location. Wonderful atmosphere. Lovely food and Ale

Great dinner. Close to Oxford. Room was small, but the house was charming. Parking was easy.
Very nice bedroom & bathroom in a beautiful location.
Arrived to discover that the last meal orders are taken at 5.30pm on Sundays. Nothing near by so had to drive to have dinner. Returned to discover that the pub actually closes at 6.00pm on Sundays which we were not told when enquiries about food. So no opportunity for any kind of drink ( water, soft or alcohol). Shame as been using the Talkhouse for 6 years & always had found it welcoming previously. Raised all this at the time, in a nice way, but received a curt & somewhat rude response!
Food was good,
Room I located near the kitchen and noises. Room was NOT cleaned or bed made after first nights stay.
The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Quiet location, so no night time disturbances. Ample parking and the pub itself is always nice for a quiet drink or something to eat.
We booked breakfast for 9am (breakfast is served between 8:30 and 10:30). We arrived 10 minutes early to find the doors locked. The cleaning lady let us in, but the chef hadn't arrived yet. We felt that with paying guests being expected that there could have been someone other than the cleaning lady there waiting to greet us - helpful though she was. We also thought that the breakfast at £10 each was a little expensive for what you get, especially since there is no specific menu. For the price of the room, breakfast could be included. I would stay again, but I think I would get breakfast elsewhere.
Location, close to Oxford. Pub Easy access to rooms. Good Value compared to other accommodation in the area
Attractive pub exterior and interior, pretty gardens, large car park, quietly situated. Evening meal was delicious and served quickly.
The bedroom had a strange smell, bed was uncomfortable, sparsely furnished, staff in bar surly and unhelpful, apart from an older man who was lovely. Breakfast not included.
Very comfortable beds. Good food in the restaurant. Big parking lot.
No breakfast included and breakfast costs a hefty 10£ and is only served from 8.30 which we find pretty late. WIFI did not function smoothly but would improve soon we were told. A bit pricey for a double room.
Location and staff
Smell in room and bathroom shower could do with an upgrade.
The rooms were beautiful and spacious, the pub wonderfully designed and laid out. There's a possibility to eat outside and the food's great. I would definitely recommend it.
The Talkhouse is located about 10-15 minutes outside of Oxford by car, which may be a bit inconvenient for some travellers. The rooms are worth it, though.
Peaceful location; pub itself is a nice space to have an informal meeting
The disinterested service; the overpriced very average food/room/bed
The pub, the restaurant and the breakfast
The shower was mouldy. The shower curtain needed replacement. Toilet slow in filling up. Bathroom in need of renovation!
Location is beautiful and very rural Nice patio with seating arrangement Nice but small rooms Nicely decorated old pub house.
Service. We arrived and got the key from the owner with finger pointing where the room was. No assistance with heavy luggage. Dinner on Sunday evening was not possible, and no clear directions were given to find an open restaurant in the vicinity. Ther next morning at 7 am we were woken up by terrible noise of the beer kegs being swapped with no excuse from the landlord at all. A small family could not get breakfast 10 minutes after 10 am, and that for only 4 guest rooms. We had to pay full price for a breakfast of only toast with marmelade....
The Inn was absolutely beautiful, perfectly well kept, tasteful and genuine. Staff quite nice, food excellent, surrounding countryside also beautiful. Very near Oxford but definitely small village countryside location. Good price.
The man who greeted us was very nice.
only window looked onto courtyard/alfresco restaurant. Smokers very close to my window and door. toilet cystern ran. bed squeaked.
Great name! Lovely old thatched village pub with a great restaurant, what's not to like? Romm was great.
Nothing to dislike at all
Fiendly welcome Quality of food Cleanliness
Rooms were basic but clean, bathroom decor was dated could do with refurbishment
The food is ok.
the staff is cold and unpolite. Location is bit far from Oxford city center. no wifi in the room.
