breakfast was really nice
We use this hotel regularily when family visit from London. Our stay last year was very poor and we where reluctant to use hotel again. However there has been quiet an improvement throughout and they are now back to their high standards.
My only minor gripe was that despite trying many times the WI-FI did not work once the day I was there which can be frustrating as I often work when travelling.
The staff were friendly and very efficient the breakfast was awesome and the attention to detail was absolutely first class
We had a short overnight stay and found the hotel to be friendly and clean. The evening meal was excellent and good value. Breakfast was also good. Quiet location with off street parking. For the price paid we had no complaints. Good value.
Poor wifi in room.
Room and breakfast was great value.
Everything first class.
The accomodation was lovely. The food was really nice. The staff were friendly.
Central location as I was visiting my elderly mum who live 5min walk from hotel it was just perfect
No bad experience
My stay was very pleasant owing to the well mannered and kind staff. One minor disappointment was some items on the breakfast menu were slightly undercooked (pork sausage and poached egg) so I did not want to risk eating them. Otherwise menu was good and serving staff were very attentive.
Me and my girlfriend came from Glasgow for our first valentines can't fault the staff or hotel She was impressed so browny points to me
check out too early should be at least noon or 1pm
Good size rooms
For the price of the room we cannot fault anything
The hotel has a lovely period feel and the bar and restaurant were comfortable and pleasant. The room was great value and very comfortable. Parking was good. Dinner and breakfast were both nice. A problem we had with one dish was resolved swiftly and courteously by the staff, great customer service.
There is no lift to upper rooms and no-one offered to carry bags. Also the walls are very thin and you can hear everything
Staff were friendly and facilities were fair
Staff at bar were mostly pleasant when approached and at breakfast did not explain that it was buffet service, or where things were but left us to our own devices, once order had been taken for tea/coffee. A welcoming face would make all the difference.
Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Room warm with comfy bed. Location overlooking park very pleasant, and plenty of on-road parking. Would stay again if ever in Greenock.
Was unable to adjust room temperature. Breakfast disappointing and basic. A good selection of fried food but tasted as though it had all been in a deep fat fryer hours before even though we were in dining room half an hour after the start of service. Only basic "value" tasting orange juice or water on offer. Only basic "value" sliced bread for toasting. Bread rolls on Christmas morning were solid and were removed when I commented. On Christmas morning being greeted by "yous want tea or coffee?" left me wondering what staff training there had ever been. A "Good morning" or "Merry Christmas" might have worked. I understand that breakfast was being served in the bar so that tables for Christmas lunch could be set up but expecting guests to eat from a low bar table at mid calf height was a convenience too far.
Comfortable bed and good location for visiting relatives. Given extra coffee for room tray when we asked for it. A delicious make of yoghurt on breakfast table.
I found the staff very helpful as soon as we arrived we were made welcome I would certainly stay in this hotel again it was very homely and I felt relaxed
the breakfast lets the hotel down badly ,they need to cook to order . Even the cheap chain are doing this.
the rooms are very nice well appointed clean and comfortable.
Comfort , friendliness of staff, quality accommodation.
THE ROOM, FOOD, AND THE PRICE, FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT STAFF.
There was not much not to like at the Tontine. I would certainly visit again.
staff friendly and helpful.
Bar and evening staff were first class.Others weren't rude but one or two were barely wecoming.
Food was good and reasonably priced.Deluxe room was excellent
That you could hear conversations from surrounding rooms.
The friendliness and ambiance.
The new building was ok but not welcoming
The Tontine was a wonderful place to stay. Especially in the main building. The staff were friendly and helpful Would recommend to friends and family
