Good size rooms
check out too early should be at least noon or 1pm
The hotel has a lovely period feel and the bar and restaurant were comfortable and pleasant. The room was great value and very comfortable. Parking was good. Dinner and breakfast were both nice. A problem we had with one dish was resolved swiftly and courteously by the staff, great customer service.
For the price of the room we cannot fault anything
Staff were friendly and facilities were fair
There is no lift to upper rooms and no-one offered to carry bags. Also the walls are very thin and you can hear everything
Reception staff very pleasant and helpful. Room warm with comfy bed. Location overlooking park very pleasant, and plenty of on-road parking. Would stay again if ever in Greenock.
Staff at bar were mostly pleasant when approached and at breakfast did not explain that it was buffet service, or where things were but left us to our own devices, once order had been taken for tea/coffee. A welcoming face would make all the difference.
Comfortable bed and good location for visiting relatives. Given extra coffee for room tray when we asked for it. A delicious make of yoghurt on breakfast table.
Was unable to adjust room temperature. Breakfast disappointing and basic. A good selection of fried food but tasted as though it had all been in a deep fat fryer hours before even though we were in dining room half an hour after the start of service. Only basic "value" tasting orange juice or water on offer. Only basic "value" sliced bread for toasting. Bread rolls on Christmas morning were solid and were removed when I commented. On Christmas morning being greeted by "yous want tea or coffee?" left me wondering what staff training there had ever been. A "Good morning" or "Merry Christmas" might have worked. I understand that breakfast was being served in the bar so that tables for Christmas lunch could be set up but expecting guests to eat from a low bar table at mid calf height was a convenience too far.
I found the staff very helpful as soon as we arrived we were made welcome I would certainly stay in this hotel again it was very homely and I felt relaxed
the rooms are very nice well appointed clean and comfortable.
the breakfast lets the hotel down badly ,they need to cook to order . Even the cheap chain are doing this.
Comfort , friendliness of staff, quality accommodation.
THE ROOM, FOOD, AND THE PRICE, FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT STAFF.
staff friendly and helpful.
There was not much not to like at the Tontine. I would certainly visit again.
Food was good and reasonably priced.Deluxe room was excellent
Bar and evening staff were first class.Others weren't rude but one or two were barely wecoming.
The friendliness and ambiance.
That you could hear conversations from surrounding rooms.
The Tontine was a wonderful place to stay. Especially in the main building. The staff were friendly and helpful Would recommend to friends and family
The new building was ok but not welcoming
Excellent choice of evening meals, note cheaper if bought in the bar area.
Noisy air-conditioning unit located at the back of the hotel. Warm milk for your breakfast cereal!
Friendly staff, no fuss, relaxed atmosphere, good value for money.
No room service after 20.45.
good rooms, good food
Very helpful and pleasant staff. The meals were very good and given the choice of a more formal meal in the dining room or another excellent menu for the more informal bar arwa
the decor, the comfort of the bedrooms, the individuality of the rooms and bedrooms. This family owned hotel, is small friendly, and has a helpful staff. The food was very good with plenty of choice, and well presented.
Friendly helpful staff parking available Clean throughout the hotel Comfortable room
Building with lots of wonderful character and history. Excellent service. Very good food at restaurant. Great location near Greenock Golf Club and town center. Very clean.
Would be good to add a few more sports stations on the cable tv (ESPN, SkySports).
easy access to airport
shower blocked with hair and flooded
Friendly staff, good breakfast. Rooms well decorated. Great shower.
Room was too hot.
Everything was good - the staff were very friendly and the food was well cooked
Menu in the main restaurant was the same very night - not as good as the bar menu. Room service was not available after 9:45pm
good parking great for the train into glasgow
Friendly staff, bedrooms are spotless and well maintained, an electric trouser press in the room would have been nice.
Poor menu, staff keen and friendly but not properly trained, the raw material is here train them properly! If you are a light sleeper do not take a room overlooking the garden a very large fan on the kitchen window runs all night and is very noisy.
