The overwhelming strength of this accommodation is the warm welcome and general niceness to both us and to Lochie-dog by the lovely proprietor. The property is well located for trains, buses and the sea-front.
The street the property is on is possibly the least desirable one in town, so we were disturbed by late-night arguments and other street noises. Our room was over the kitchen so we were subject to the delicate smells of cooking oil as we awoke.
Staff very friendly. Shower was excellent, hot and powerful.
As you come into the hotel, there is a very unpleasant musky smell, I'm sure it's the carpets, needs a re-refurbishment in this area to get rid of smell. Room was basic.
Superb location. Easy walking distance to beach and evening eating establishments/entertainment. Very good breakfast. Fresh fruit available every day.Railway station just a short distance away.
Breakfasts were delicious, Jackie is lovely and can't fault the cleanliness and housekeeping
Free parking constitutes getting lucky enough to find a space somewhere in the surrounding streets where there are no double yellow lines. This is really hard in peak season and isn't exactly free when you spend 20 minutes driving round and round
Very friendly owner, and good breakfasts!
Had a lovely week at the Triton. Very friendly people there. Nice room. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Very dog friendly - even got a cooked sausage each day for the dogs. Short walk into Shaklin. Would stay there again.
Wifi connection not very good. Parking could be a problem, but we had no trouble finding a space right outside the Triton every time we parked and there is a car park very near with free overnight parking so not really a problem.
Jacqui made us very welcome especially the dogs who loved their breakfast treat
Convenient position for bus and rail station, Jackie the owner very helpful and friendly, Breakfasts very filling.
Jackie and her mum looked after us and made us feel at home, our two boys (dogs) where looked after very well as well. The breakfast was really good and filled us up for the day, the stay was very enjoyable. If we come back we would stay at The Triton
Nothing, everything was good.
Jackie made me feel at home and was very helpful. The cooked breakfast set me up beautifully for the day. Free cancellation is very useful for air travellers and is a short taxi ride from the airfield
Not double glazed so ear plugs recommended. I thought it a little expensive for the facilities but then I got caught on the IOW Festival Weekend.
Lovely and helping housekeeper. Very welcoming and made all our wishes come true. Absolutely worth its money!
Very enjoyable stay - Jackie the hostess looked after us very well, and made us feel right at home. We are planning to return on our next visit to the Isle of Wight.
Nothing - everything was top class.
The owner went out of her way to help The breakfast was amazing, cooked to order, no limitations Bedding, towels, bathroom and shower very clean Close to the beach & centre of village
On street parking.. Very awkward esp if returning late to the room however the council car park over the road was free overnight as long as you move your car by 8am! Decor a tiny bit dated, but I am being very picky...who cares really as long as it's clean and comfy - which it was
Spider webs in the room by curtains and windows
The owner was really lovely to chat to, she lives on the property with her dog and knows the area well. The guest house was located close to Shanklin station, bus stops, the town centre and is a short walk to the Esplanade.
I like staying somewhere with a optional lounge to sit in, but there wasn't one, only the room. The bed was not very comfortable and the wifi signal weak. Feel that the price was a little high for the accommodation, which was not so modern.
Really lovely place to stay and very welcoming, would definitely stay again, lovely breakfasts and lovely lady who's house it is.
Couldn't get any wifi or phone signal.. I did not need it per say.. But it would have bee nice to have during the stay
Jacky who ran it, Bedroom, Breakfast, facilities
Sometimes difficult to park the car
Our host made us feel so welcome and has such a warm personal touch without being intrusive. The room has been lovingly decorated and offered all the usual facilities (the biscuits were really nice!). Also, we were able to bring our dog and she was treated to her own special breakfast, which she very much appreciated. The guesthouse is located in a quiet neighbourhood within walking distance from the beach and the city centre.
Not so much a dislike just be aware, when bringing your car, that parking is in the street (free) or in a nearby parking lot (charges).
Jackie our host was very helpful and provided some lovely breakfasts with the help of her mum. Nothing was too much trouble for her.
The noisy traffic on the adjoining front road.
Very friendly hotel, made our stay very pleasant. Would not hesitate to stay there again or to recommend to anyone else. EXCELLENT !!!!
Everything was good for us. Nice house, nice room, nice breakfast, and very nice host. We enjoyed it very much.
We were impressed by the The owner Jackie who couldn't do enough for us. It was a small old fashioned but very friendly and we were able to park very close by
We missed having the air conditioning as it was very hot at night. And also a better shower but it would not put us off from staying again as these are really minor points compared with the good things
Nice and very helpful staff, good value for money, excellent breakfast
