The proprietor, his wife and parents- in- law were very friendly and did their best to make my stay comfortable and to feel welcome. Good simple English country food and excellent cooked English breakfast. Comfortable bed. Picturesque location. The shower was totally inadequate. The stall was tiny. The water was either boiling hot or freezing cold.

On holiday from the usa we wanted to experience a rural british inn. The Trout Inn was just what we wanted. The accomodations were as expected and the food was very good. I had a sirloin steak that was as good as I have gotten in the us. Staff was attentive and interested in what we were doing for our holiday.

Close to the venue we went to and ideal for a family who want it to be easy. Very nice breakfast. The place was tired, everything needs updating. The bathroom was particularly dirty - general neglect over time. They were closed when we arrived with no note left on the door so we had to go to the wedding without showering and get changed in a loo - not ideal. Fine for a night but wouln't want to stay longer than that.

Countryside pub and restaurant with rooms upstairs. A little out of the way but worth the distance. Very good food and helpful staff. If back in that area again I would go there again.

The owner and staff were very friendly and given that my arrival was quite late (I'd alerted them earlier in the day) took the trouble of preparing a delicious fresh sandwich for me as the restaurant had closed. The room was simple, basic even, but clean, warm and comfortable. There was nothing I didn't like about The Trout Inn but unfortunately its pleasant rural setting was rather too far from my work/business base: Winchester.

The owners and their parents were very hospitable and charming. My evening meal was excellent. I enjoyed my breakfast which arrived on time and as ordered. The bed was very comfortable. I would recommend this establishment to others. I will be staying there again if I need to be in Winchester on business.

The total approach by the staff to assist and make our short stay a pleasure - the pack lunch was very good - cheese and pickle sandwich was for the inner ploughman and the ham sandwich for the farmer - ( all sandwiches should be made this way - excellent !!! )

Friendly owners and family atmosphere. Felt very "at home" and relaxed. Would definitely go back. Shower didn't work well, water was either scalding or cold, battled to find right setting. Other than that no complaints

The Trout inn is a great basic b&b a little tired in places but the hospitality is second to none. The overall impression of the Trout inn is a little jaded and belies the warm hospitality that is guaranteed by the hosts.

Friendly staff, welcoming bar area, good evening meal and clean room Checking in time not flexible ie mid day or 18.00 (not good if you finished work at16.00) Breakfast was well cooked but small and nothing was offered to start with except orange juice No mobile phone signal (not good for a solo traveler with a family at home)

The food was excellent and the owners and their parents treated us as friends although we had never stayed in the area before. We were able to choose what time we would like breakfast, and exactly what we wanted to eat. The evening meals were excellent and the other customers were friendly and made us feel welcome. The Inn is a few minutes from Winchester, which has plenty of parking spaces as well as a very good park and ride. We were also able to visit the New Forest and Bucklars Hard. The Inn is well worth staying at and with the updating which is in progress should be even better in future.
