Very clean room, not 4 star but value for money. Owners were very obliging and friendly. Room 12 but did not experience what other comment was. Food very good value.
We where flying from East Midland early so booked in here for the night. Car parked for free and hotel clean, food wonderful. Night porter gave us a call in the morning and our pre booked taxi arrived, all good.
Great to be at the pub and simply head upstairs to sleep after a couple of beers :-)
Don't go here if you want a good nights sleep. Doors slamming from about 4am. Toilets and showers very noisy. I think an investment in some good quality soft closing hinges would go a long way. Breakfast overprice. Overall not a fan.
Staff extremely polite and helpful, Bar meal was of extremely good quality. Breakfast was worth the extra paid on arrival.
Location was convenient for East Midlands Airport
TV would not work Wi-Fi would not work Traffic outside window was terrible all night No food available on arrival, admittedly very late. Room was very small. Bathroom was very small and shower poor.
Great food in restaurant, very helpful and friendly staff, nice "old style" atmosphere
The location isn't the best, but you stay here either for the airport or Donington Park racing track, you know the place isn't a great tourist hotspot
Lovely old quirky building, but in need of a re-vamp here and there. Room was fine, ate in the bar and it was very good, home cooked food.
The fans from the kitchen were outside our bedroom window, which we had to keep open as it was very warm, but they were very noisy. The mattress was hard and lumpy and I had a sore back in the morning :(
Friendly staff Helpful really nice Hotel. Really enjoyed our breakfast value for money and would stay again. Very clean Hotel and our room was great everything we needed
Food was excellent with friendly and helpful staff. We had a thoroughly enjoyable last evening in the UK and would certainly stay again.
Couldn't work the shower but that might have been because we had to leave at 4am to catch an aeroplane and showers at 3.30am after a late night are probably not a good idea!!!!!
Upon arrival hotel has an odour of cheap cooking oil and stale food. A professional deep clean is necessary to remove this unpleasant aroma. Reception was un-manned and had to locate the receptionist. The tariff clearly states £70 double or twin, we were charged £80 - this did not include breakfast this was extra £8.50pp Room 12 (as we were led to believe was a superior room) was shabby and rather in need of a refurb. Plaster was on the walls chipped and cracked The shower had signs of microbial growth and mould, requires re-sealing and a thorough cleaning or replacment shower unit. Soft furnishings were grubby and stained. A dirty stained hand towel was amongst the inadequate towel bale being cheap and very well worn. This was replaced, but we were only permitted the replacement hand towel. This clearly was not a superior room and the tariff was not at the correct rate for this standard of room (£50 would be a fair reflection) We noted there was a rock band on as evening entertainment which did rather disturb our sleep (we did want an early night due to attending a race meeting the following day) We were greeted with a surly morning salutation upon our departure and a demand for the room key before we could even put down our cases when coming downstairs to the lobby. Upon departure we were observed by a member of staff rather beadily whilst we were packing our vehicle ready for our journey. This must be one of the most horrendous stays in an English town we have had the misfortune to experience. If we were tourists from abroad on holiday what a dismal picture dipicted to the tourist of how the English run a hotel or how not to run a hotel - this would be a good scenario for the HCITB or the Hotel Inspector. We would not reccommend this hotel to anyone Caveat Emptor.
As we were going to the British Super Bikes, it was an ideal location for what we wanted.
Nice feel, nice room and in a good area, nice pub downstairs
Party downstairs, lots of noise, poor shower and room service number didnt work
really friendly staff ,,good food ,,easy access to donnington race track..
could do with new beds,,apart from that nice place
only 10mins from motorway and 10mins from airport
on a busy main road, quite a lot of traffic noise
Large room and bathroom. Friendly host and staff.
The girl greeted us was lovely showed us to our room showed us fire exits and was pleasant and knowledgeable the room was basic but clean what you may expect for £55
Nothing to moan about it was what we expected
Room furnished well. Bedding excellent and room spotless. Food good. Staff extremely pleasant. Comfortable and well looked after hotel.
Room 12 had the extractor fan from the kitchen outside the bathroom window. Very noisy. Bathroom door did not shut. Toilet made peculiar noise after flushing.
Friendly Staff and excelent value.
This is a friendly comfortable hotel and the food is very good.
Floor boards creaked (sorry), and there was some noise in the early hours.
Were not in good condition.
One of the beds was in very poor condition. I asked as special request at booking for early breakfast but none was available before 9am. No discount offered for this. Cask ales
Location to East Midlands airport and the staff were friendly. We had an evening meal in the pub and it was reasonable value for money.
It was a little expensive for bed without breakfast and to take breakfast would have made it expensive. The Hotel could do with freshening up eg the carpets were worn etc.
Thorough staff who showed us to the room & how everything worked
cannot get breakfast till 9 am on Sunday , no good if you want an early start
The nice rooms and the country-side atmosphere with a good touch of English pub culture and charm.
Can be loud on weekends due to the bar downstairs.
